While on Master Cleanse You Should Avoid Taking Vitamins
A question that often comes up from people who want to go on the Master Cleanse is - "Should I keep taking a mult-vitamin while on the cleanse?"
Unless you are taking vitamins for a specific health reason it's best to not take a multi-vitamin while on the cleanse.
For most people a multivitamin is not necessary as vitamins and minerals are provided in the diet. Trying to add things on your own can interfere with the detoxification process and lower the effectiveness of the diet. However, there are certain small variations that can be used, some of which you've already learned in past issues of this newsletter.
The Lemonade Diet helps to flush the body of toxins, including toxins in the skin, and despite the small amount of ingredients already contains a healthy range of vitamins, especially the all important B and C vitamins. These vitamins, in particular have been shown to be incredibly useful in keeping the skin clear and eliminating harmful free radicals.
A general rule you should keep it simple, and not ingest anything unnecessary.
A few thoughts on Vitamins
I know people who spend more on vitamins then they do on groceries. At the other end of the spectrum are those who take discount vitamins which because of the shortcuts in the manufacturing process are almost impossible for your body to breakdown and absorb.
A story about undigested vitamins had this to say - "Each month in Tacoma, Washington 165 thousand pounds of undigested vitamin and mineral pills are pulled out of the sewers".
Now 165 thousand pounds a month seems like a lot to me, but I think it proves a point.
Getting the right amount of vitamins from a multi-vitamin pill can also be a problem because to much of a certain vitamin can have negative effects. Many vitamins sold today contain excessive amounts of vitamins and minerals. This is something you should be aware of.
You can get vitamins online that are custom formulated just for you at Lifescript Vitamins, which is better than most of the shelf vitamins because they're made based on questions you fill out about your height, weight, age, gender, ect.
If you can, you should try to get your daily intake of vitamins and minerals through food. Juicing is the fastest way to get your daily intake of vitamins and minerals. I like green leafy vegetables myself because they're packed with nutrients, and they help keep your body alkaline which along with detoxing is the best way I know to fight disease and stay healthy.
