The Master Cleanse and Weight Loss

The most common questions I get on this blog are about the master cleanse and weight loss so I thought I would take a minute and answer some of those today. I was going through these blogs. Suddenly a question came in my mind…I want to try MC specifically for the weight loss..but one of the blogs says that it is temporary.we really need to work out to loose weight.is it a reality that the weight loss is temporary in this case as i am not fatty i just want to loose weight from hip and the waist line as i have developed flabs….so please help.

While you can lose a significant amount of weight on the master cleanse, and keep most of it off (you’ll gain back some water weight) the real weight loss benefits come after you finish the master cleanse. Most people will find that they no longer consume as much food as they did prior to the master cleanse, and the food they do crave is usually much healthier.

I am interested in the cleanse for removal of toxins and NOT for weight. loss. I have always been thin with a high metabolism. I don’t want to lose wt. is the master cleanse still for me? I am worried about doing it for 10 days straight, not only for convenience factors but because my metabolism is unusual and i don’t want to lose weight or wind up feeling faint, etc., especially when I’m working.

denise, I think it is water retention. I weigh myself in the morning and as soon as I do the SWF I gain everyting back until the next morning so maybe that is what your going through. 45 days…wow! I couldn’t do it…I miss a glass of wine:)

I’ve been on the MC for 6 days and feel wonderful! I lost 8 pound but gained 2 back :-/ I think its the salt flush and retaining water or something. Has anyone experienced this and have any advise. But I feel great! And would like to 45 days!

Hi Everyone-

My name is Kat and me and my Fiance Case are on Day#2 of the MC…Day#1 didn’t get hard until the evening…I was hungry and of course had the headache….headache is very minimul today but am a little weak today…We are going to try our best….taking one day at a time. Good luck everybody!

Leairia-I haven’t done the tea yet (I’m starting on day 2) but I did the SWF last night. It made me go to the restroom A LOT! I woke up this morning and I’ve lost 2 ibs.

I wasnt able to stick w/just liquid side due to physical job demands. I sem -fainted @ 3 days in.
I added a block of firm tofu in the am. (I eat it uncooked)

Ive lost @ 10 and the fat free/low carb/pure protein of the tofu has carried me at work.

I am looking to lose about 15 pounds in the long run. I believe this will be a great start. Are we not allowed to eat AT ALL while doing the MC?

I realize a lot of you are doing the master cleanse to lose weight and that is fine but you know that the true way to lose weight is to eat healthy and set reasonable goals. I suggest if you are doing this for the purpose of losing weight then you need to go speak to a GI doctor because you can make your self bulimic in such a way. The picture of doing this for the wrong reason could lead to intestinal lymphoma.

It is good to occasionally purge ourselves from built up bile and waste for the detoxification purposes but put your thought in your true purpose of doing this cleanse. Someone who commits bulimia eventually they have thrown up so much that the acid has eaten away at their throat and causes cancer this too is similar to your colon. I am speaking from experience I have intestinal lymphoma. I did the salt water flush this morning because my body doesn’t want to purge the waste anymore because of this I get sick and I am not ready for a colostomy bag yet.

Using grade A does not give you the nutrients you need. I am on day 8 and ran out and tried grade A for half a day. I starved all day.

@Ms. Jackson, I know it says over and over you have to use organic maple grade B syrup and purified water , but can this be substituted with grade A syrup ?

Im on day 3 & this is the third time ive done TMC.
Ruby- no chewing gum whilst doing TMC.
Chrystal- the filtered water, lemon, cayenne & maple syrup is all you can consume while doing TMC. The laxative tea & salt water flush are the only exceptions. Period. If you feel like eating “regular food” and you want to be committed to doing this cleanse, perhaps ask yourself when you feel the urge to eat if indeed you are hungry? Or is it just boredom, stress or some other trigger compelling you? If you do a body/feeling check on yourself you will probably find that you arent really hungry at all! The cleanse does give you the nutrients you need for the duration of the 10 days at least. You want to feel better, healthier, more energetic and indeed lose some weight? Stick to the ingredients listed here. You will feel so proud of yourself after each day! Keep in mind- its not like you will never eat again!! Just in a few days from now…Good luck!

Hey everyone,
This is my second time doing TMC. I was skeptical and discouraged at first, but I got over it. I only did it for 10 days since it was my first time, my started out weight was 232, by the 10th day I was 209. No lie…I excerise alittle(home workouts) nothing to serious, but u dont have to workout. I kept it off for a while, but I have been tempted by so many and failed back into bad eating habits. So now, im currently 220 and looking to come down to 185-190 on a 21-30 day fast. Wish me luck…

Hello Everyone.. :) I’m a newbie on this diet. I’m starting by today,and I hope will lose approximately 20 lbs before the chinese new year is coming. Honestly I am feeling a lil bit afraid that I will expriencing the same condition like Chrissy. I’m not doing SWF , and not added maple syrup cause those things are hard to find in here,so I added some lime into it. Can it works ? Wish me luck on my diet,cause I feel depressed that my weight is stuck and afraid it will begin to gain. I’m not feeling hunger or craving on my first day,when i drink my first cups, after minutes I end up in bathroom. That’s normal or not? Thankss. :)

Hi I’m starting the MC tomorrow and I weigh 168lbs I’m looking to lose hopefully 15 lbs at least get back into the 150′s. I’m planning on doing 7 days..and then on the 7th day keep going for the 10! I have a couple of questions..What is ” senna” and do you have to drink laxative tea? or can you just do the lemonade and water? Also do you get “the runs”? and I see alot of “SWF” what does that mean? I’m pretty sure I can last on the not eating part..I’ve done it before (not healthy i know) but I’m confident going into this..any help would be awesome! :)

Oops, I wrote on the wrong conversation. I’m on day 3. When you want to slow life down a bit, start a detox bc 7 more days seem like a long time to me now!

Chrissy, have you been “eliminating”? Maybe you should consider lax tea in the morning. Are you drinking senna? I drink about 3 cups a day, though I’m not doing the SWF. Anyway, don’t get discouraged. Add another cup of tea and see what happens.

So I am on Day 5 and have not lost any weight nor any inches off my waist, starting to get discouraged :( . I am 5’4 weigh 130 and trying to lose 10-15lbs. I am following the Diet as striclty as possible by consuming 6 cups of lemonade juice a day plus SWF in the morning and smooth move laxative tea before bed. Anyone else experiencing the same? Please help with any advice of what I might be doing wrong. Thanks.

I have been on the MC 7 days and am loving it! No cheating needed or would even consider it. I am strongly considering drinking the lemonade as a meal or two a day or two a week afterwards. I love the energy and lost 3 lbs by the 3rd day. Debating on continuting for 14 days instead of 10. I love it and will most definitely do it again.

I am 19 years old and I am over weight. I am hoping to get many things from the master cleanse. My main goal is to come out of this eating healthier and just being happier and more confident. I am 19 and weigh 173 pounds. Not only do i want to do this for weight loss, but also for the detoxification and to help me with eating habits. I have a 2 year old little girl, i gained alot of weight after having her. I was 135 before pregnancy. Is the Master Cleanse for me? I’ve read alot, i’ve learned alot and i’m motivated to start within the next week. But i just need some advice, can i go longer than the 10 days? Say the 30 day mark? I’ve heard alot of stories about people never using Master Cleanse before and going a full 40 days. Anything helps, thank you!

Feel like I have no energy today, keep on getting pains in my stomach area. I’ve lost 6lbs already which I’m delighted with. I’m going all the way hopefully I reach my goal weight. So desparate to chew something lol madness!!!

I’m finishing day 4 and its working, but I’ve got to tell you, I hate the taste of the cayenne pepper and the pure maple syrup doesn’t taste very good with lemons either! Frankly the entire recipe tastes awful. Also the sea salt flushes almost gag me to get it down. I have had bowel movements for 3 days, but nothing on day 4. But, I’m sticking with it and looking forward to day 10 so I can start eating on day 11. I will start with fresh fruit and maybe egg whites.

Today is my very first day, very excited!! SWF dislike it but I know it works, because I have friends that have done this cleanse and worked out well.
My main purpose is to lose weight, I weight 165 lbs and I’m 5’2 so my ideal weight should be 130 pnds… Im planning to do it for at least 20-30 days… Wish me luck every one!!

I’m in day two of the master clense. I cab not stop thinking about eating somthing… Anything at all. Dizziness comes and goes.. I hope it gets better after my body adjusts. But I’m so hungry

I’m on day 7 of TMC. Down 16 lbs. Feeling good, not a lot of energy, but I found that I’m sleeping better, not to mention that for some reasons my sinuses are better. Not sure if there is a correalation or not, LOL. Don’t have the hunger pains now that I thought I would.

My question is once I go back on to food, is it okay to use the lemonade for a substitute during the day for a meal, say lunch or breakfast?

Also, if you watch the movie “Food Matters” it has interesting insight on what we eat overall. They mentioned something about eating at least 51% raw food in every single meal to keep your body free of toxins. Anything over that and you’re not doing your body any good.

My husband and are on our first day of the cleanse today. We started off three days ago with a vegetable juicing cleanse. So far so good. So it’s technically day 4 of the overall detox process and we’re just now starting to get over the completely miserable hump to happiness and a bit more energy.

Hi,

I am on day 5 of master cleanse and feeling great! Food cravings and hunger have gone and my energy is steadily high.

My question is, I have been weighing myself daily, the first day I lost 4lbs, 2nd gained two, third, lost a couple, fourth lost 1lb but today on day five I weigh 2lbs more than yesterday?

I have stuck to the cleanse without any hiccups, reduced my maple syrup to one tablespoon. I ultimately want this to detox but I do have a lot of weight to loose and can’t understand why it is going up and down so much?

This is my 2nd day on the cleanse and its by far the most challenging thing I have done. All I keep seeing and thinking about is food im hoping to stick it out though to day 10. Wish me luck!

It really doesn’t matter what it is called, the whole point is to get started, complete it and feel good about yourself. Share your success without sugar coding it so others can learn from what you have accomplished. My husband and I are starting it today and I will keep you all posted. Thanks to the person who has safe food list in case it gets crazy. I plan on trying not to resort to the safe food. All in all, I think who ever tried and succeeded…..Excellent job! For those who started and couldn’t make it thru, just set a new goal and try again. By the way, how many times should we do this? I did not see that question asked. Until, zoeyslim….I’ll keep you posted on my success.

Is it okay to workout while doing this cleanse? I plan on doing it in two days and was just curious as to whether working out will, I guess, “hurt me” while I’m doing the MC.
