Master Cleanse Weight Loss

by Raylen on July 14, 2007

A reader asked about gaining back the weight you lose on the master cleanse…

in your story you said you staved yourself and in return it “lowered my metabolism, so when I starting eating a “normal” diet I still ended up gaining weight” will i am doing the MC now and from my reading the MC does this to and you will gain atleast half the weight back is this true?

I think you’re talking about my experience with going on a long term starvation diet which I did gain the weight back when I started eating a normal diet. As long as you don’t plan on doing the master cleanse for a very long time (30+ days) your metabolisism shouldn’t be an issue.

As far as the wegiht you lose on the master cleanse as I’ve mentioned a few times on this blog and in my book the master cleanse is not a wegiht loss diet, it’s an all purpose health enhancer. While you can lose a lot of weight on the cleanse much of it will be water and internal waste. It’s simply not possiible to lose a large amount of fat in a short period of time.

If, and how much weight you gain back depends on what you do after you finish the cleanse. If you follow a light and healthy diet you can keep off most of the weight you lose. I’ve written a detailed post about diets to follow after the master cleanse.

That doesn’t mean you won’t lose weight on the master cleanse because you will, but the real weight loss beneifts come after the cleasne, and from the new healthy habits you’re likely to adopt after you finish the master cleanse.

I like the way the lemon diet aka master cleanse makes me feel. More energetic etc. Does anyone know, if its healthy to drink it on a regular basis instead of diet coke and other drinks? Is it okay to drink w/ healthy foods? Will I gain weight if I drink it along w/food? I really like the taste also, but just want to be sure I’m not making things worse.

I’m about to start a colon cleanse using this product called oxy-Powder. I’ve read online that colon cleansers promote weight loss, however, it is not loss of fat but rather loss of impacted fecal matter within your digestive system.

Have you tried using a colon cleanser in conjunction with your master cleanse?

I did the Master Lemon Cleanser (the original from Stanley Burrough’s book). I did it for 40 days, I lost 35 pounds. I have been off it for 6 months, and no weight gain! After reading Burrough’s book, and with my own experience, I have concluded that just because one may not eat solid food for a prolonged period, as long as the body is getting all the vitamins/minerals it needs, it has no reason to go to starvation mode; thus my energy level throughout the 40 days was astonishing! And I had the motivation to work out! My metabolism was reset w/ the cleanse. Now, I drink the lemonade daily from morning until my late afternoon/eve meal. I feel better and have far less need for supplementation.

MY HUSBAND AND I DID THE MASTER CLEANSE FOR 10 DAYS. WE HAD JUICE AND LITE VEGGIE SOUP FOR THE NEXT 2 DAYS THEN BEGAN EATING LITE MEALS FOR A WEEK. WE EACH LOST 12 POUNDS. I LOST 6 INCHES IN MY WAIST. WE HAVE BEEN TAKING RAW PSYLLIUM FOR THE PAST 22 YEARS. WE DID NOT EXPERIENCE A VAST AMOUNT OF FECAL DEBRIE DURING THE CLEANSE. WE FELT GREAT. WE’VE BEEN OFF NOW FOR 8 WEEKS. NO WEIGHT GAIN.WE STILL FEEL GREAT. I WILL REPEAT THE CLEANSE FOR 5-10 DAYS SOON FOR FURTHER WEIGHT LOSS. MY HUSBAND DOES NOT NEED MORE LOSS.
THE TASTE OF THE LEMONADE CLEANSE IS GREAT.
THANKS FOR GETTING THIS INFO TO ME.

I’m doing the master cleanse but I’ve only done it for about 2 days. Haven’t really lost any fecal matter. I strongly believe I have about 16 pounds of fecal matter encrusted in my small intestine. What I would
like to know is how many days do you suppose till I begin losing a few pounds of fecal matter? Also, after how many days do you think I should stop the master cleanse?

just fyi.. i ordered the neera drink available online and it was absolutley awful!!! it made me very sick and have serious stomach pains. its some sort of knockoff of the master cleanse and i strongly suggest that NO ONE uses it.

I WANTED TO KNOW IS THE JUICE SUPPOSED TO TASTE SWEET. WHILE DRINKING IT I HAD A SWEET TASTE AND AFTER I FINISHED IT I HAD A SPICY TASTE. IS THAT RIGHT?

Yes thats normal cause the cayenne pepper tends to sit at the bottom. The longer it sits they hotter it will be

I would like some posts of how many pounds in 21 days and beyond you lost within the 40 days. Burroughs.. original book said this can be a reduction diet.. and the body can and will reset its natural weight. As a matter of fact.. it says to lose weight.. cut back on the Maple Syrup. Hope this helps.. Please post…about the weight loss totals of the 21-40 days .. Thanks

The master cleanse is a healthy diet but all my friends think that I am anorexic. How should I show them that I am not anorexic? This is my 10th day on the cleanse and I am planning to do it for 40.

I am on day 6… I read all your materials Raylen. My husband decided to do this with me, but he was out of town and came back when I was on day three and had already had breakfast, but decided to start that evening, so he’s doing the 8 days and I am going for 10.

So far I feel great! I think day 3 & 4 were the hardest because it was Saturday and Sunday… Monday I was home too, but by then, it wasn’t too bad. Today on day 6, I’m back to work and I even went walking for a couple of miles, and felt pretty good. Will go back excercising tomorrow as well. I usually work out, but have slacked for about two or three weeks and didn’t want to overdo it while on the cleanse.

Good luck to everyone out there doing this and keep it up for clean, healthy bodies!!!

By the way, weight loss was not my reason for doing this, although I do need to lose weight, I wanted to do this as a fresh start for my body. I lost 5 lbs by day 3, but ever since day 3, I’ve weighed the same. Maybe I only had five lbs of junk in my intestines… lol.

Im 17 years old, 5’2 and weight almost 180lbs. I look forward to doing the master cleanse process but im a little scared that once its over I will gain all the weight back. My ideal goal is lose at least 30lbs in 30 days, but it would be great to lose more.. Will someone please help me?! Will I gain the weight back? Is it possible to lose that much weight in that little time? Will I lose my curves? Is it healthy? Does it really work?

Desiree July 25, 2011 at 3:35 pm

Tiffany, as the initial blog stated this really shouldn’t be used for weight loss alone. When you start eating again, you will gain back some of what you’ve lost. The weight loss is a great side effect, but the true goal of the cleanse is to expel internal waste. Because of your age, make sure you talk to your parents before you do start. If you really want to get the weight off and keep it off, you gotta do it the old fashioned way. Change your eating habits, and commit to working out. Good luck to you, and have faith! You can do it!

I just finished 25 days of the cleanse. I feel amazing and have lost 25.2 pounds. My bad eating habits were not eating anything all day, and then coming home and cooking a large meal, then sitting on it for the night. Maybe having a snack or two in the evening as well. I have decided to keep drinking the juice for most of the day, eating a small meal near the middle of the day and finishing up with lemonade at night. If I feel a need to snack, I make myself some herbal tea. I have still been doing the SWF in the mornings to clean out any junk. This is probably the best thing I have ever done for myself, and I will do it again in January. I was smart to do it on Nov. because now I will not overindulge in food and alchohol over the holidays. I don’t want that junk in my body!!

sandy April 5, 2012 at 2:41 pm

im starting day 1 tomorrow and hoping to go the full 40. Im quite experienced with fasting so i think thats fine. Im hoping to lose 40 pounds in 40 days so im gunna do cardio exercises and use less maple syrup and have about 4 servings of the drink a day. Any thoughts on this? Also, can you drink as much water as you want? And which is better, warm or cold?

Anyways, good luck everyone on your journey to a healthy body!

amanda April 12, 2012 at 3:21 pm

i am Amanda and i am 15 years old have been doing this diet for about 2 years on and off and i have drank both cold and warm but warm is better cause it goes through ur metabolism faster than cold

This is my first time doing the cleanse I feel amazing. I am on day 10 and I plan on going to to day 40. I am taking 5 days at a time to decide. I have lost 13lbs and I look great. Most of my weight came from my stomach area where I wanted to. I am determine to keep it off. I already work out a healthy plan and I exercise 6 days a week. I was not losing any weight after I platau so I figured it had to be the waste buildup. Thats when I came across the Master Cleanse and I am so happy I did. One thing I learned about losing weight and this cleanse is your mind has to be right. You must want to do it for it to work. Yes, day 2 and 3 were heard but I had a picture of how I don’t want to look anymore up on my mirror and the refrigerater. I got tired of wearing size 16. Overall, I feel great, I have lots of energy and I am not moody any more as my daughter told me. That’s the best thing of it all. Thank you to the writers of this book and I am thank to the health food clerk who told me about it. I will post again to tell you how the rest of my days go. Good luck to all of you!

Hi, I am 17 years old, and I am on day 6 of the master cleanse! I feel amazing!! I have lost 12 pounds. I started at 172.5, and today I am 160.5! I want to continue the cleanse util I reach 145… I think that would be about another ten to fifteen days so maybe I will do the cleanse for twenty one days! My only fear is that I will gain all the weight back… I really want to the keep te weight off… I am going to be so careful when I go off the cleanse… I think that for the first two weeks after I will only have fruits and vegetables, and then maybe I will begin to reintroduce real food, but my diet will be a sugar gluten free diet , I really hope I don’t gain any weight back!
