I’ve been doing the master cleanse diet for five days now. And I had a couple of concerns.
First of all, I decided not to do the laxatives or the salt water flush. What kind of effect will this have on my weight? What use does this have while on the diet?
Also, today I was having a really tough day and I was really hungry. I’ve been chewing gum to keep me away from food, but today my co-worker gave me some of her hot and sour soup.. I didn’t have a lot, but will this affect my process at all?

The salt water flush won’t have any effect on your weight other then the water weight you lose on the master cleanse. It will however effect the detoxing process because it does help flush out the waste. As far as eating is concerned it will hinder the cleansing process. Now the question is should you eat? Ideally no, but my advice (which many Master Cleanse purest attack me over) is this – if it comes down to having some soup, or quitting the Master Cleanse all together by all means have some soup. My thoughts are doing the Master Cleanse almost perfect is better then not doing the Master Cleanse at all.
Hi i was wondering if i could eat a small salad if i get too hungry?
The advice I gave about eating soup on the Master Cleanse applies to salad as well. I would suggest you avoid any meat, croutons, and use a vinegar dressing.
I want to start on the lemonade diet tomorrow ,but noy sure i completely understand it. ok i think is it straight water,lemonade,cayenne pepper. do you have to use the maple syrup? and what about this salt water (salt flush) do you have to use it also, someone please help me out. i really need to lose so weight just like all of you feel you need to. I’m 4?11 and weight 201 not healthy and hate being in my own skin. PLEASE HELP ME TO LEARN THIS DIET AND UNDERSTAND IT.
Losing weight with the Master Cleanse is the most asked question I get on this blog. I’ve outlined a method for weight loss in my master cleanse book, but you need to be careful if you’re thinking about cutting the maple syrup out of the diet because that’s the biggest source of calories, and without that the master cleanse basically becomes a fast which can be dangerous.

In my part of town, Norhthern NJ, I could not find the grade B of maple syrup. There is only grade A. That is what I used and I did the cleanse for a precautionary 3 day period. I did not notice a change of the way I felt at all. Is that normal? I’m not worried, just thought I’d feel different somehow. Could this be because I only cleansed for 3 days?
Grade A is not the best choice because it goes through a different refinement process, and it does not contain as many minerals as grade B maple syrup.
You can find grade B maple syrup online if you can’t find any locally.
The Master Cleanse effects everyone different, and it’s possible that using Grade A syrup was to blame. One thing I’ve noticed is that if your current lifestyle habits are bad (fast food, no exercise, etc.) then doing the Master Cleanse will have a bigger impact on how you feel.
This does not mean healthy people shouldn’t do the Master Cleanse, it’s just that your body will go through less of a change.
I am extremely hungry? Why? I have read that many people do not feel hunger.I just had a baby about 8 weeks ago? Would this make a difference?
It’s normal to be hungry for the first few days. Most of the time the hunger goes away after the 3rd day, but don’t be surprised if you have hunger all the way through the cleanse. If you’re still recuperating from your pregnancy, or nursing you should hold off on doing the Master Cleanse.
Thank for all the information regarding master cleanse,however I have a couple of questions, I have been on the cleanse 5 days and haven’t lost any weight and I was wondering is it because I’m warming my lemonade up in the microwave, dose that do something to it,and 2 my bowl movements are really really watery is that normal? like diarrhea.
Microwaving the lemonade shouldn’t make a difference as long as you’re not boiling it. If you’re concerned you can always use a tea kettle to warm it up, that’s what I do.
As far as weight loss, like I mention in my master cleanse guide most of the weight you lose is waste and water. For some people this could be 20 or more pounds, but the real benefit of doing the master cleanse is to purify your body. Fat loss usually comes after you finish the cleanse because you’ll have a natural tendency to eat healthier, and your body will be running more efficiently.
Yes, liquid eliminations are normal.
I’m looking forward to begin my first attempt of the Master Cleanse. But before I begin, I have a question. I plan to do a cleanse 2-3 days a month, every month while I on my period (because my appetite is decreased during that time). Is that a good idea? I’m using the cleanse as both a detoxifier and a weight loss method.
I’m a big fan of doing a “mini cleanse” so yes it will help with weight loss and detoxing, but to really get the hardened waste out of your body you’ll need to do the 10 days.
hi Raylen i have not yet started using the product but i will i just had a few questions. after the weight start coming off will i have a lot of flabby skin hanging? is extensive exercise possible for the weight loss? if i just did a full body cleanse for a month with another product how long should i wait to start your cleanse. by the way i weight 178lbs I don’t know how much body fat i have but it is more than 30%. please help.
Hello, when you say you did a full body cleanse was it similar to the master cleanse, or did you use a colon cleansing product and stay on your regular diet? If you did something similar to the master cleanse I would let my body rest for 60 days.
When you say “is extensive exercise possible for the weight loss?” do you mean while doing the master cleanse? You should take it easy while doing the master cleanse, but while on your regular diet exercise is a great way to lose weight.
Flabby skin can be an issue for anyone who loses a lot of weight. It depends on your age, genetics, and how much weight you lose. The only people I’ve seen flabby skin be an issue with are people who’ve lost 200+ pounds. I think you’ll be fine.
I started the fast and lasted 54 hours but blew it by being near the refrigerator full of food. I will try it again tomorrow. I am 57 years old and I run a few times a week, does anyone know if this could be dangerous to over exercise while on the cleansing fast?

When you do the Master Cleanse a lot of waste that was previously trapped inside your body will be circulating around as the cleansing process starts to work.
This takes a toll on your body, and is a big reason you get aches and feel fatigued while doing the master cleanse. Doing vigorous exercise will only put more stress on your body.
I would avoid intense cardio workouts and weight lifting while doing the cleanse, especially if you’re doing it for 10+ days.
This doesn’t mean you should stay welded to the couch. It’s good to move around, just don’t push yourself too hard. I like to go for a walk or a light jog, do yoga, and ride my bike when I’m on the master cleanse.
Keep in mind that what one person considers an intense workout might be effortless to another. So if you’re a experienced runner going for a jog while you’re on the cleanse should be fine, but if you’re out of shape jogging might be too much for you to handle.
There is no one rule that fits every person when it comes to exercising and the master cleanse. Just remember to pay attention to your body, and don’t push yourself too hard.

I have one question; can I take Tylenol pm at night as I have a hard time sleeping? I am on day three and holding up. I am glad I purchased your book as I have been using lemon juice not freshly squeezed and grade A maple syrup as I could not find Grade B. When it comes to taking aspirin, or any type of nutritional supplement on the master cleanse my thoughts are if you can, avoid it, but if it’s going to make a difference between you not quitting the cleanse or not, then take it.
This question is about a lack of bowel movements while on the Master Cleanse…
Today’s my fourth day on the master cleanse, but I don’t seem to be making any bowel movements, it’s really frustrating, I don’t think I’m doing anything wrong, I read your book many times to figure out why am I constipated but it didn’t mention anything about that, I know it’s one of the side effects, but I still will appreciate it if you have any suggestions, thank you.
Not everyone eliminates pounds and pounds of solid waste on the Master Cleanse. For many people their bowel movements are mostly liquid so do feel like Master Cleanse cleanse isn’t working because your body is still cleansing itself.

I have completed the MC multiple times and have never had an issue. My record is 27 days. My most recent(March 2023) 20 days. Today(May 2023) I am on my 10th day. Will cut short, headed to the beach!!!
I premix the solution, drink plenty of water and teas, occassionally have a coke or coffee. I do it to lose weight quickly and I workout, 5-6 days a week. Love the weight loss and the effect!!!! It's all about will power....if you have zero will power....you will have zero chance to succeed!
I'm on prescription for high blood pressure Acid reflux and tyroids medications do I take these meds during the cleansing or should I stop it for the duration?
What is the ratio of lemon juice, cayenne pepper and maple syrup for an 80oz water jug? I'm having a hard time figuring out how much I should be using of each.

Hi. I have two questions. I'm on day 2 of the master cleanse, and well I had more than enough bowel movement. I'm wondering if I should cut out the nightime laxative tea or alternate mornings on the swf? my movements of bowel 'liquid' slowed down a couple hours after the swf, but continued with urgency throughout the day. Not that much coming out, but it still makes it difficult to um, leave the house.
Secondly, my accupuncturist recommended I take a little vegetable broth while on the cleanse. In this way I would still only consume liquids, but give my body some nourishment. As she feels my body needs it, and it is very cold where I live now. Is this ok, or will it ruin the cleanse?

I never write on these things, however... The person who wants to know if microwaving her master concoction is allowed, the answer is absolutely, unequivocally NO. Do not microwave anything. You have just killed all the nutrients in your cleansing drink.

Ok , I seee alot of questions in which are answered in the original master cleanse book... and if you read that book from start to finish alot of your questions would be answered. I'm on day 7 of the cleanse and yes its tough but .... Im im doing it to jump start my healty life style change.... if your planned on only doing the cleanse to lose a few pounds ... well be prepaired to do another cleanse when those pounds come back once your done with the cleanse.... Its not a diet and I really hope ppl stop referring it as one .... smh u only setting yourself up for failure . Yes granted I have lost about 13.4 pounds since I been on the cleanse and that for 7 days so far , however I am active as well....doing light cardo and drinking lots and lots of water. Im preparing my self for my actual weightloss journey after the cleanse ... kinda like I'm starting off fresh.... my advice to everyone who is starting or thinking about starting..... if you can't do the full cleanse as it was designed ... then don't do it all it... its not even worth it . If you have health issues u need to consult an doctor before starting before u hurt yourself... also this is not a quick fix....because once u go back to eating regularly those pounds are going to come back.... also u don't have to do the swf its optional u can do the laxative tea as well.. i was not able to do the swf the first day i tried it ... i puked it back up ... my body could not take it... but i do the laxative tea in which work just find for me .

I just finished my 11th day of the master cleanse and want to continue but my question is, do I need to continue with the maple syrup. Also when I am done probably 7 more days I would like to transition into a juice cleanse. Any advice on both topics?

I am preparing to start the Master Cleanse. Getting body and mind prepared so i am taking my time getting both body & mind prepared and the book really is so very encouraging and answers alot of questions,concerns etc. I am on page 57 and one day away from starting the cleanse.First,thank you for this informative book.
My only question is that my blood sugar tends to go very low when i don't eat....What do you suggest?I am determined to follow the cleanse the right way with no cheating...and i have already claimed that i can do it.I will be checking my blood sugar constantly...also thinking that alot of water and the mixture should serve the stomach good when hungry..Am i correct or just wishing? lol..Well, i will post once i get started on sunday..my two daughter are alo so we will each encourage one another.Good Luck to all..Stay Positive!!!
quick question(S) i m on a mil base in japan and they don't have grade B maple syrup we only have grade A so i substituted all natural molasses wasn't sure which would be more recommended. i guess im just wondering if grade A is ok or what an appropriate alternative would be.
Oh and another question since i am doing only 5 days do i have to do a 3 day ease out?
