A reader wanted to know about losing weight, and dealing with cravings while doing the master cleanse…

Hi all,

I’m wanting to start this diet ASAP. I’m at an all time high (5’6 and weigh 193 lbs…WAY TOO MUCH!) and for the past 5 years or so, I can’t stop eating junk with my 65 – 70 hour work week schedule. It’s like I live to eat that way! I’ll be 30 in November & really want to change my life & the way I treat my body. I hope to start Thursday or Friday so that my worst “detox” symptoms fall on the weekend.

My hope is not only some weight loss, but to be RID of the cravings for junk & caffeine so that I can get to my goal weight of 140-150 by the end of November. Does anyone have any tips on what I can do to maximize my results? Should I do 2 cleanses a few weeks apart???

Thanks so much & God bless!

Hello,

I understand what you’re going through with junk food cravings, and wanting to lose some weight.

If you use the search box on the left hand side of this blog, you’ll find lots of posts that deal with losing weight. Also make sure to read the comments because 1000’s of readers in your exact situation have shared some magnificent tips over the years.

About junk food cravings:

A big advantage that the Master Cleanse has over other cleanses, is that it satisfies both sweet and salty cravings thanks to the salt water flush and the maple syrup used in the lemonade.

Will you still feel a little craving pang when you walk by the break room vending machine? Probably, but it’s not as bad as most people think.

You also mentioned that you’re trying to kick caffeine cravings.

If you’re used to getting your caffeine fix from a hot beverage like coffee, switch to caffeine free herbal tea.

If you’re used to getting your caffeine fix from a cold beverage like soda, switch to plain carbonated water. This way you can enjoy a fizzy beverage without caffeine, or any other unhealthy ingredients.

Good luck, and please use the comment section to keep us posted!

  1. Hi!

My friend told me about the Master cleanse and all the wonders it did for her. I was so excited and motivated to start it myself. So I took a trip to Whole Foods and got every indigent I needed and started the cleanse the next day. I made sure to subscribe to your news letter because I knew I would need the encouragement.

I’m 4 days into it now. What prompted me to contact you was what I just did…I ate junk food! Which aroused a few questions. Does this ruin the whole cleanse, or can I go back on it tomorrow as if nothing happened? Should I start all over again?
Another thing I’ve been struggling with is drinking the full 60oz. Since the beginning of the first day I’ve tried my best to drink 60oz, but I’m always falling short. I drink an average of 320z a day with no problem of feeling hungry or even weak. Is it bad for me to drink half of the required amount? will the cleanse not work properly if I don’t drink at least 60oz?
Also, I’m getting extremely nauseated when I even so much as think about drinking another ounce of the lemonade. The first day was fine, I actually thought it tasted amazing! But come the second day that wasn’t the case. I read about how you said drinking organic herbal teas will aid that redundancy, so I took a trip to the health food store. The tea helps A LOT but I can’t get past the hidden cayenne pepper and maple syrup taste. I found diluting the lemonade with water helped it go down without a gag. Will this affect the effectiveness of the cleanse?

Thank you for all your help!

  2. Luckily for me in Jamaica I have natural spring water coming straight from d woods far from chemicals and humans running through my tap so I dont get toxins like chlorine and my dads a farmer who uses natural stuff on his produce so its manure instead of fertilizers my master clense worked wonderfully compared to back when I first did it in college where I was eating junk less toxins in your body the better it works and the weight went faster for me
