Introduction

by Raylen on December 5, 2006

My name is Raylen Sterling,

Growing up I was not in the best of health. I was raised by a single mom who did the best she could, but often was so busy that at least one meal a day was take out or fast food. For snacks I would eat chips and soda.

As a result I was overweight as a kid. Actually I was obese. I remember my pediatrician telling my mom that if I kept gaining weight at my current pace I would likely not live to see 35 years old. As a result I was put on a diet, but after a few weeks of trying to keep me on a healthy diet eating in our house went back normal.

I was about 100 pounds overweight by the time I was 19 when I decided to take massive action, and finally lose weight. You might be wondering what was it that would drive a 19 year old to finally go on a diet. Was it good health? No, it was girls. It might not be the most noble reason, but for a teenager it was a powerful motivator.

I did the thing everyone tells you not to do to lose weight. I slashed my food intake to about 600 calories a day, and boy did I lose a lot of weight. 11 pounds in the first week. Close to 70 pounds after 3 months. But it was taking it’s toll.

I was famished, sleeping about 11 hours a day, and I was light headed.

My current 600 calorie a day diet was not good for me so I decided to eat a healthy 2,500 calorie a day diet, which for a guy like me who likes to workout, and lift weights should be perfect. But the only problem was the 3 months spent starving myself had lowered my metabolism, so when I starting eating a “normal” diet I still ended up gaining weight (about 35 pounds).

That weight loss attempt taught me a valuable lesson. I learned to never jeopardize my health in pursuit of good health. It sounds like common sense, but every day I see people taking drastic, even dangerous measures to achieve good health. Even with the Master Cleanse there are people who stay on this restrictive diet for longer than a month!

Today, I’m proud to say that I have lost weight, and I am healthy. By using the Master Cleanse for what it’s intended for – to purge unhealthy waste from my body, and help break my junk food addiction I was able to get my weight under control and finally feel good about myself.

The Master Cleanse is not easy, and if you want lasting results you’ll need to eat healthy after the cleanse, but the beauty of the Master Cleanse is how much improvement you will see in a short period of time.

If you’re curious about the Master Cleanse take a minute and read some of the comments below which are left by people from all walks of life, and feel free to add your own comments – I would love to hear from you.

This is my Fourth try at the master cleanse, and I must say that everything that I learned from the past three failures has led to success with this one. I guess the only thing I’ve dealt with is the craving, it seems everything from fried chicken to pizza I want, but it like being in recovery you just have to take it one day at a time, and when I do feel a headache coming on, the tea takes its away. Today I’m on day Six with Fourteen more to go, I’ve had pain in my knees that has all but gone away so I can REALLY feel the detox working for me…..Good Luck to All and above all remember this cleanse is a process, the first time you may fail, but give up trying……

My husband and I are planning on starting our Master Cleanse in 2 days but today I came across a snag, the only Maple syrup available in our town has added sugar and is the syrup you would use on those pancakes. I found it in a alternative health shop and the sales girl assured me that this is the syrup they use for this type of cleanse. It certainly is not labeled group B and has 65g of sugar per 100g though it is organic and nothing added, what should we do, there is nowhere else I can get the syrup. Is there a substitute so we can go ahead with the cleanse? She said it was used purely to level out the blood sugars? Need your help asap, thankyou

I am looking to start this cleanse in a few weeks (have some other challenges and I finishing first) and was wondering if I can chew gum on this cleanse??? I found for me that when I chew gum, it helps curb my hunger. The gum I normally chew is Trident or Elicipse. What do you think??

Mary April 8, 2011 at 4:51 pm

Molasses instead of syrup is what I hear is a good idea!

I am finishing DAY 10! Yaaaa! I did not cheat once. I drank 70 or 80 oz of “Lemonade” everyday with all the ingredients. 100 oz of water and 20 oz of warm sea salt water all mornings but one. That day (day 5) I did not poop so I made sure I did it the rest of the time. Day 2 I had a headache but not to bad. Im sure it was a lack of caffeine headache because of no coffee. But I felt good all in all. I was very surprised how much energy I had. I was only shaky on day 7, and I think it was because I did the sea salt the night before and went to the bathroom til 4 am and did not replenish my water. Tomorrow I guess Im only having the Lemonade and some Orange Juice. Thats what the book says to do on day 11 to come off the cleanse slowly. Thats seems pretty slow but Im determined to do it right. Why waste 1o days. Then on day 12 I will have OJ and Veggie Broth and Lemonade. I cant believe I was not even hungry (past day 3 – was hungry day 1 and 2). I lost 12 pounds. My very watery poop was not near as bad as what was described in the book. Hope I did it all right! I will do it again in 4 or 5 months because it feels good, like I am really cleansed. I so hope I can maintain a better “diet” now. It sucks that I just love food so much.

Success with the Master Cleanse; drank about four litres a day of mix; Felt great; no pain; however, did the salt flush twice; first time – no reaction; second time – it worked (got a better brand and it worked); experienced a great deal of stress, however, during the cleanse time of 10 days, but kept to program
The positive side: no inflammation; no pain; energetic most times
The ‘Down’ side: only lost 2 pounds!!! was a bit devastated (I do have low thyroid so I don’t know if that kept me from losing more weight); also, started feeling really hungry the last two days — so glad I am coming off !! Will try again in the Fall.

i was wondering how old do you have to be to actually use this cleanse? is is safe to use it if you’re young and weigh 120 lbs?

Manaley April 12, 2011 at 9:59 pm

Hey, My name is Manaley and when i told to pple about master clean they told me ” oh no you’re insane ! it’s dangerous” but i guess it’s not ’cause i’m used to fast for a month without water (until the sunset) ! here we can drink water so it’s not dangerous at least for me i’m used to it ! so when i’ll start the master clean ,it’ll be easy, i guess !
so don’t stop listen pple who say ” oh no it’s dangerous ” ’cause it’s not ! and believe me or it’s the best thing to fast ’cause you feel really empty and healthy !! =)

NETTA April 18, 2011 at 11:40 am

I’M BOUT TO START MC I NEED TO KNOW HOW MANY OZ OF THE LEMONADE A DAY, HOW MUCH WATER, AND HOW MUCH TEA AND SALT WATER. OR DO U DRINK THE TEA INSTEAD OF THE SALT WATER. DOES THE RESULTS MEAN ANYTHING BY HOW MUCH SALT WATER OR TEA U DRINK.

Maggie G April 20, 2011 at 8:45 am

I have completed the 10 days Master Cleanse and I am feeling GREAT. I read about the Master Cleanse and other users comments before starting, so I would have prepared myself both mentally and spiritually. I had no problems and I actually restarted walking whilst using the drink and really feel energised. I never really felt that hungry, I do not know if probably because I had made up my mind to go all the way with it.
My advice for anyone wanting to try the Master Cleanse is to read the literature, other users comments and most importantly prepare your mind and body, knowing that there are benefits.

Tracey April 22, 2011 at 5:33 am

I am on day 2 of the master cleanse, i have done it twice before the first time lasting 9 days the second time lasting 8 days this time I would like to last the full 10 days, its so hard to not eat as I love eating, I have put on so much weight in the last 2 years and I am finally ready to loose it once and for all, this is an emotional thing for me as I find I get a whole lot of love and comfort from eating and WOW do i love eating out, its not that I eat unhealthy food its that I eat to much and i love drinking wine.

Marnie April 22, 2011 at 8:28 pm

Question: I just finished 10 days on the master cleanse and I never felt better! The instructions say to only drink OJ for 2-3 days after exiting the cleanse, but am I suppose to continue the sea salt flush during those 2-3 days after the first 10?? Thanks in advance to anyone who can offer me some direction.

Sterling April 25, 2011 at 4:57 pm

Is this safe to do if you are 16? I want to do it but my parents are worried it won’t be good for me because I’m still young and growing.

jess April 26, 2011 at 11:41 pm

hello my cleanser friends!
i am watching the sunset on day 2 and feeling pretty good about it all.
this is not my first master cleanse but it has been over a year since my last one, which was a lousy 5 day attempt. i have done for up to 16 days in the past and ten days a few other times. i am 34 and did my first one when i was 24… so ten years of MC! i have also done other fasting/cleansing over the years… but it has been awhile since i have had a really good one. it is a glorious experience and i look forward to at least 10 days and sharing.
oh… and to answer the above question about gum.
chewing gum makes your body think that you are eating and wastes your valuable enzyme stores. so gum is never a good idea, especially when cleansing as it is usually loaded with the toxic poison aspartame.

Stan April 27, 2011 at 12:51 pm

Hello there. Day three, actually…day six with one day break for easter. The only issue I’ve been having within the past day is heart burn. I’m guessing the lemons are doing it. Anyone have a solution for me? It is makin it very challenging to swallow! Hellllp!

laurel April 30, 2011 at 3:01 pm

Day 12 with the master cleanse and feeling great. My only problem has been fixing meals for my family which includes toddlers and small children. I find myself taking a taste here and there every single day. I wish I could leave while I’m on the cleanse. I haven’t been hungry since day 3. It’s just the temptation. I’ve been able to do some sort of exercise every single day. I’ve lost about 10 lbs. I don’t know how long I’m planning on staying on the cleanse. I feel really good right now so I don’t want to quit just yet.

Eileen May 5, 2011 at 10:37 am

This is my third day in this cleansing diet and I feel fine. decided to stay home so I can get rid of the waste you talked about. Though you encourage to get rid of food that can derail me off course, I can’t do that with my growing kids. I still have not cheated and I loss a pound/day so far. While my intention is to detoxify my body, I liked the idea of losing weight too. A lot of my coworkers wanted to know about it so I just directed them to your site. Let see how the next days will be.

Jeremy May 7, 2011 at 7:54 pm

I did it! It is my tenth day of the master cleanse. I am excited to eat food again. Here was my daily ritual. I woke up and did the salt water cleanse. Which was 1 tablespoon of sea salt that is not iodized with 1 liter of filtered water. Then I would make a half gallon of my juice. I used 6 cups of freshly squeezed lemon and lime juice, 4 cups maple syrup and 1/2 ts of cayenne pepper. The rest of the 1/2 gallon was filtered water. I would usually drink about 1 to 1.25 of these half gallons per day. On day 10 I drank 2 to increase my caloric intake. Before I went to bed I drank a cup of laxative tea and went to bed. It was surprisingly easy to stop eating. I think what made it so easy was sipping the lemonade every 10-15 minutes, I would also take a sip if I felt hungry. I did not bother to keep track of weight loss, because that had nothing to do with my reason for doing the cleanse. That being said I have noticed that I have lost fat around my stomach.
I would like some advice on how to come off the diet. I spent the past 10 days essentially fasting and don’t want to ruin it by coming off it in a unsafe/ unhealthy way. What do yall think is the best way to transition back into a food based diet?

ashlee May 12, 2011 at 2:30 pm

Can I use grade A maple syrup

Anonymous May 13, 2011 at 10:37 am

I just finished the MC, yesterday was my last day, I only lost just short of 5 lbs., whats up with that? Anyways, I would suggest to anyone doing this that they go and get their hair done or a manicure or pedicure or something on like day 2, 3, or 4. I just happened to have a hair appt. on day 3 and it was very helpful in getting me through. I really want to start eating again but am a little scared, i know the book says to do oj for the first 3 days and then have vegetable soup the 3rd night but I don’t want to, will I be ok if I eat at a party tonight, my first day off of it. I have only had water and oj so far, but I want to eat something else and don’t know what, I am out of oj and oranges.

Amy Penny May 15, 2011 at 10:09 am

My question before I start the MC is that I had back surgery and I’m on pain meds. Can’t I still take them while doing the MC? Please let me know asap? I’d like to start this soon.;) Thank You!

amtOK May 18, 2011 at 7:17 pm

Hello! I’m on day 8 of the cleanse….I’ve lost over 12 lbs so far….My biggest motivation for doing this was to detox and pass the “imacted fecal matter”….I have been following all instructions to perfection….Laxative tea every night and SWF every morning….And, while I’ve considered moving my office to the bathroom since that is where I spend most of my morning hours, no solids seem to be passing :-( ….Has anyone passed this stuff and how long did it take? Sorry for the TMI but I really would like to know…Thanks!

Dimples May 22, 2011 at 7:05 pm

It’s day 5 lost 9 lbs !!!!!!!!!!!!

cheryl May 26, 2011 at 4:53 am

I’m starting today (I’m a first timer)…already drank 2 glasses this morning. I’m going to the health store today to see if I can find hoodia (as I read on this website it curbs hunger) for the hunger pains I’m sure are in my near future.

I’ve found this blog to be very helpful and encouraging….wish me luck!!!!

Tiffany May 30, 2011 at 1:16 pm

http://WWW.AMAZON.COM has the Sea Salt, Coombs Family Farms 100% Pure Organic Maple Syrup Grade B, and the Organic Cayenne Pepper.

http://WWW.SWANSONVITAMINS.COM has the Hoodia, that curbs the hunger pains.

Tiffany May 30, 2011 at 1:28 pm

I have not actually started yet. I ordered everything online and awaiting for shipment this week. I am looking forward to the Master Cleanse and taking off the weight (50-60 pounds). I have started cleaning out the refrigerator and eating miracle noodles twice a day to start cutting back on the calories (www.miraclenoodle.com). It does what is says keeps me fill, and helps me cut back on the pasta and rice. I use the miracle noodles as a substitute, does not taste like much, so I search out great sauces to make and put on top of noodles or add to soups ;-) .

Tiffany May 31, 2011 at 7:18 am

Dear Jeremy, according to the Master Cleanse the steps to take the day after your Master Cleanse.

DAY 1 – Drink Orange Juice and lots of water

DAY 2 – Drink Orange Juice, lots of Water, and light soups (Vegetable Soup is recommended with Rye Wafers)

DAY 3 – Drink Plenty of water, Fruits, Vegetables, and Salad.

DAY 5 – Light eating, avoid meats and milk for a while.

Tiffany May 31, 2011 at 7:25 am

Dear Amy Penny,

According to the Master Cleanse, you should STOP ALL MEDICATIONS and VITAMINS. If you are on any medications prescribed by the Doctor, it is IMPORTANT that you speak with your doctor first before starting the Master Cleanse.

Tiffany May 31, 2011 at 7:36 am

Dear amtOK,

Per your question, the Master Cleanse is detoxing the body with liquids. At first when you start the Master Cleanse you may pass solids, after that your “imacted fecal matter” may be like a water substance.

peaches June 2, 2011 at 12:28 pm

I am on day three and i feel okay, saltwater cleanse is not bad tasting to me but its hard to drink prob cause my body is not use to it or am not mixing it right lol. Oh btw am 5’4 and I weigh 168 or so by now as i was loosing weight before the clease but I have not dun any weigh in since the cleanse my tarketed weight is 140 or less lol

Kiera June 4, 2011 at 5:22 pm

Yaay! It’s my day 10! This has been a very difficult, but prosperous journey for me. I have never did a cleanse in my entire life. Food has been my biggest issue, which is why I have struggled with weight for most of my life. I recently gained over 100 lbs. in the past 3 years due to depression and this was definitely a great boast of confidence in showing that I have power and control over my cravings. It really did show me that food will not defeat me and I can take control over my life again. I mean come on, if I can go over a week without food, I feel like I could accomplish ANYTHING!!! :) Can’t wait to start my new nutrition and exercise program. I wish everybody luck and plenty of success. If I can do it, I know that all of you definitely has what it takes to make it through. Believe me it will be hard.
Day 2-3 I wanted to give up so bad, definitely find other ways of spoiling yourself without food, like a nice hot bubble bath, a pedicure, or even a nice relaxing massage.

Emma June 6, 2011 at 9:22 pm

hi everyone,

i’m thinking of starting the master cleanse this week. i read somewhere that if it is the first time for doing this detox you can do it for just 3-5 days to start, and then next time up it to 10 days? is this right? if anyone has any tips of getting through the detox i would love to hear from you, thanks,

Panda June 10, 2011 at 4:52 pm

This is my first time doing a master cleanse. It’s only day two and I’m in agony. I can hardly lift my head up and I feel so dizzy I have spent half the day in bed. all this with drinking more the recommended amount of lemonade. I have a lot of other stress going on in my life and was thinking about doing a shorter stint of 3-5 days; However my friend who is an old pro at this claims that if I don’t do the full 10 days at least I will have no benefits and all of my suffering will be for nothing. I am generally a healthy person and I have been expelling a lot of stuff out of my body the past couple of days, so I can’t believe this to be true. what’s the deal?

Lois June 13, 2011 at 5:52 pm

Hello all. Today is day 2 of the MC for me.I started the cleanse because at the end of the month I will be having knee surgery repair. Since I will be under anesthesia for the surgery and afterward not as active as I would like to be, I thought getting rid of as much gunk in my system now before the anesthesia/surgery/recovery would be the best thing to do. Doing the MC after my surgery would not be a good thing because I don’t think trying to run to the bathroom after taking the SWF with a bum knee if a really pretty picture. So, I am dedicating thise 10 days before the surgery to detox and get rid of all the build up of many years. I have never done a cleanse before so I was a little nervous. My hubby is supportive though; he cheers me on yesterday while he sat eating a large bowl of Blue Bell vanilla icecream! Chicken! Anyway, I am motivating myself with the thought of how much good for myself reasons I have to gain by doing this. I’m looking forward to the results over my next 8 days. I do hope to lose weight, or really the junk that’s in my system, but I also hope to gain a better handle of the things I put in my body. I want to end the cleanse as healthy as I started it. I hope to transition to eating foods that are good for me. I want, no I need, the confidence a healthy body will give me- just to know I am treating myself well motivates me to continue even though I’ve read there may be bad days ahead while on the cleanse. So far, the only bad that I’m experiencing is not having a good bm like I was expecting. But I’m sure it’s coming. I can feel the rumbles now as I write this. Otherwise, I’m doing okay. The best of health to all!

Lois June 14, 2011 at 11:59 pm

This is the start of Day 4 for me and I feel really well. I finally had my bout in the “throne room” on day 3. I was a bit relieved that I was having some results after taking the SWF. I did notice a slight headache but it wasn’t too bad. I am not craving foods at all, thank God! On day 3, I volunteered at my church for 4 hours and then went to the health food store for some more grade B maple syrup and lemons. The maple syrup was really expensive, but I bought it anyway and picked up a few limes as well to add to my lemons. I also bought Smooth Move herbal tea laxative. I’ve decided to drink this before bed at night. I’ll do the SWF in the mornings. I have a hard time drinking water so I decided to flavor my water with fresh lemon juice or lime juice. My goal is to drink at least 110 ounces of water daily, which is half my body weight. I also plan to drink 60-100 ounces of the MC lemonade daily. I am running to the bathroom pretty frequently which is good. Since starting the cleanse, I have not taken my pain medicines for my right knee. I figured while I was on the cleanse it would just wash out of me and wouldn’t really do any good. Well, would you believe, I have not had very much pain in my right knee and leg since I started the MC? Usually, I toss and turn in bed at night trying to get comfortable due to the pain in my right knee despite the pain meds I was on. But since starting the cleanse on Sunday, June 12th, I’ve noticed that I have no throbbing or heaviness in my leg and knee! I have slept pain free for the first time in many weeks! I’ve also noticed the swelling around my knees have also gone down and I was able to tolerate wearing a pair of sandals that has a slight heel instead of wearing flats like I had to do before. I’m amazed at my energy level also. I was able to do a bit of house cleaning and I rearranged my son’s bedroom. I also helped my hubby set up my new queen sized bed. I thought I was going to be knocked out with weakness and the jitters and going crazy with hunger pains and cravings. But, so far this has not happened. I’m thinking perhaps as I go further into the diet that may occur but so far, thank God, it has not occurred. I’m still only going to do this for 10 days and not extend it any further. It’s not a quick fix or a diet plan. I don’t want to become hooked to laxatives or heavy cleansings as this could be dangerous in depleting my body of healthy balances that are needed and that occur naturally in my body. I do have 60-80 pounds that I would like to lose, but I don’t plan to lose that weight doing this cleanse. It’s just a starting point to help me launch myself into my goal toward healthy lifestyle habits. I’m thankful that so far, I’m 4 pounds lighter! I’m looking forward to the knee surgery on June 30th, actually, and I hope to be able to resume my walks around Stone Mountain as my knee gets better.Right now, the cleanse is my pre-operative preparation to get rid of toxins and built up gunk in my system before I go under anesthesia for my surgery. After surgery and during recovery, I will eat my new healthy foods and do the exercises my therapist will put me through. When that process is over and I’m back on my feet, I’ll do the 10 day cleanse again to get rid myself of any other toxins from pain medications, etc. and continue on to healthy eating and exercise. I plan to use the cleanse every 3 or 4 months. I’m excited and I hope I do well! This is the start of day 4 for me. Good luck and good health to all!

gail June 16, 2011 at 6:59 am

Hi
I am on day 4 of the master cleanse and following it by the book the only thing is I only manage to drink 4 glasses of the lemonade a day. Is the okay?

Lois June 16, 2011 at 8:59 pm

This is the end of day 5 for me. Yes, I am half way through!! Today, I must admit was a little harder. I was starting to feel a bit tired and grouchy and hungry. I had to do a lot of counting to ten to keep from blowing my cool. To get rid of the tired and hungry feeling, I just drank the tea and felt better. I did try to keep my water intake up to half my weight. And to drink at least 6 glasses of the lemonade like it says to do. Actually, I do drink about 7 or 8. I did not weigh myself today, but my hubby did give me a compliment stating that I looked smaller!! In just 5 days he can see a difference!! Wow! Well that’s it for now. I ran a lot of errands today and I’m now drinking my herbal tea laxative as I write this. It will be nighty-night for me soon. Take care and good luck all.

Lois June 17, 2011 at 4:07 pm

Day 6 is a bit hard! I am really hungry and feeling the growls in my stomach. I have to keep myself really busy with my to do list so as not to think about food. My hubby and daughter are going about things as usual; eating and making plans for the weekend. This weekend will be hard also as this is Father’s Day weekend and hubby has already gotten an invitation out to eat by his friends and their wives to celebrate. I, of course, will go along, but sans eating. It’s going to be really interesting to sit there with a glass of lemon water, trying to not look hungry and hoping my growling stomach does not drown out the conversation at the table. But, I will hang in there. Six days down, four more days to go. I will do this!

Lois June 20, 2011 at 6:48 pm

Today is my 9th day on the MC. I am definitely going to do this again and have decided to make it a part of my yearly routine. I have lost 8 pounds already and have not had any ill effects while on the cleanse. In fact, the lemonade is pretty darn good!
I did have a problem with the Salt water flush, however, and had to resort to the alternatives that were mentioned. All in all, this was pretty do-able!

riri June 21, 2011 at 4:53 am

day 1 for me ,pls i need to find out if my cleanse would still be effective if i dont do the swf and take the laxative tea cos i cant find any of those at the local stores close to me.
@amtok…..pls i need to ask u a few questions personally.

Lois June 21, 2011 at 7:36 am

Day 10 and all is well! I am also 10 pounds lighter and that is great too! I feel great and will definitely be adding this to my healthy lifestyle regimen. My only regret is that I got my Master Cleanse guide on day 6 of my fast. There was so much more I could have done to enhance the 10 day cleanse. But, I am happy with the results that I did get, even from not knowing all that I do know now. My next cleanse is scheduled for September and I will be equipped with all that I need to do an even better job than I did this time. The journaling here on this site also helped to keep me motivated; even though no one else interacted. I hope everyone did well on their MC experience.

riri June 22, 2011 at 6:26 am

day 2 for me….am craving all kinds of things, and for some reason i feel very sexually in tune with my body,i feel like i have lost some inches cos my work skirts seems to be unusually flowy….hope i have the energy to ignore the headaches and hunger pangs.

Sadie June 23, 2011 at 1:14 pm

Day 1 for me.. So far all I’ve had is cravings for some food but I’m sticking to this diet.. At first when I heard about the Master Cleanse diet I thought it sounded gross and I couldn’t ever go through with something like it and well, here I am! My goal is to lose at least 15 pounds by day 10.. Wish me luck!!

gg June 27, 2011 at 12:36 pm

On my 2nd day of the cleanse. Feeling great! Have not had the desire to eat or hunger pangs. So far so good. Last yr I did the cleanse for 8 days. Now I am planning on doing 10.

Angela July 4, 2011 at 9:54 am

I started the MC on June 26 . I agree the first 3-5 days are the hardest. After that it is mainly mind over body. I have had days where I wanted a meal not because of hunger but because others were eating or just the smell of food. I did not realize the MC was going to be without the hunger pains but it is. If you are able to just fight the will you can overcome. I am certainly looking forward to at least 21 days and the outcome of my new body, mind and soul. Thanks for all the help you have provided.

1. Is exercise allowed, and if so, any restrictions?

2. I take prescription meds. Is it true you cannot take these during the cleanse? I cannot go off these particular meds.

hi everyone im planning on doing the MC and i have a few questions if anyone would be kind enough to answer them:) i have done the cleanse twice before and didnt manage to make it very far ( 3rd day the first time, 2nd day the 2nd time) and i am wondering what is your guys strategy to keep on going? i was also drinking very little lemonade while on the cleanse, about 10 oz a day. is that bad for you? is there an alternative to the salt water flush? and can you chew gum while on the cleanse? THANKS IN ADVANCE TO ANYONE WHO CAN ANSWER MY QUESTIONS! :)

I decided to be realistic and ease into this cleanse thing. Somewhere in the info I read that 3 successful days is better than a failed attempt at 10 days. So, I started with 3 days. I did it! Headache on day 1, most likely caff withdrawal. I lost 6#. I really didn’t notice many improvements in my health until 3 days after going off of the mc. I noticed that my skin was less dry and seemed to be healing. Then I went to the dr for routine blood work and bp check. I had the lowest bp I ‘ve had in probably 15 yrs; 118/72! I find that my appetite is more controlled since the cleans. I crave less junk. I crave more things like fruits and veg. Overall, MC has been a positive experience. Next time I will try for a 6 day cleanse. I would encourage others to start out with the 3 day cleanse if 10 days seems too daunting. You should still experience benefits from a 3 day cleanse.
