Well summer’s almost here and a lot of us are scrambling to lose a quick couple pounds to get our selves ready for the beach. As you might have guessed I feel the best way to lose weight fast is with the master cleanse, and lucky for us a reader of this blog named Mike posted some really good tips in the comment section that I want to share with all of you…

Hi,

I’m currently on Day 7, and it’s been manageable, but also a tough slog so far. I have felt a little disappointed after reading about how energetic and non-hungry everyone else feels while on the diet, because I feel like I haven’t eaten in a week. The hunger is so intense at times that I can’t take my mind off of it. I have also had headaches, and have felt extremely weak after exercise (walking 2-3) miles.

On a more positive note, I have not felt fatigued during the day past Day 2, which I have always struggled with, and I have had an easier time falling asleep at night than in any point in recent memory. I have stuck with the detox this far, and I’ve found satisfaction in enduring constant, intense hunger pangs, but it’s been extremely psychologically and physically challenging.

I’m in my twenties, pretty athletic, and I have a fairly muscular build – with a little bit of a belly. I don’t know how much of the hunger pangs are due to physiological needs (i.e. genuine hunger), and how much is due to the psychological trauma I’m inflicting upon myself – I eat pretty well, but I love food!

I have tried other detox methods, and briefly studied nutrition, but this is just amateur advice. To add my two cents to a couple questions posed here:

CRAMPS: Cut back on the tea. It doesn’t take much Senna, the active laxative ingredient, to do it’s job. Try steeping the bag for two minutes, and adjust with 30-second increments until you experience a laxative effect without prolonged discomfort.

WAITING FOR A BM: Use Senna (”Smooth Move”) tea, or the salt water flush! It’s not a detox if you’re not expelling these impurities – daily – this is critically important!!!

WATER: Drink as much as you’d like/you can. This will flush everything out, keep you hydrated (food contains water, too), and help with hunger.

PEEING: I’ve been peeing all the time, and it often has a funny smell. I’ve read elsewhere that this is normal – and it makes sense.

MEDS/VITAMINS: To my knowledge, one should suspend over-the-counter supplements, vitamins, and meds while on the cleanse. If you’re on prescription meds or have a health condition, you should REALLY consult with your doctor beforehand. Probably a good idea regardless.

HEADACHES: I’ve had them almost every day, but they’ve become less severe, and more infrequent. Staying properly hydrated has helped.

Good luck everyone!

  1. Hello,

I’m on the 3rd day and feel pretty awful, but not sure if it is due to the chest cold I have. Do you advise doing this cleanse while sick? I was thinking it would be a good idea to help me recover more quickly, but my chest is so tight and I’m coughing a lot.

I do feel the light feeling and know that it is a good thing, but still very sick.

I would love your feedback on this.

    Thank you!
    Sheri

  2. Great information, however I do have a questions about bowl movements.
First I am on Day 2
    Peeing- Im always going
Bowl Movements- I had two like regular movements yesterday. Today so far none. Is this normal or should I be running to the bathroom alot more with bm’s? I have followed the instructions with Master Cleanse with the laxative (sea salt, p-husk) havent done the tea yet. Also I used Organtic 100% lemon juice, will that make a difference?

  3. Hello!
I am at the end of day 2 of the Master Cleanse. I had one BM yesterday, but nothing today. I am drinking the tea. Should I be concerned?

  4. BM: Am now on Day 5 – have been taking psyllim capsules and have not had any BM’s for previous days. So today tried the Senna tea – just wondering if have loose, watery, yellow stools normal?

  5. I started the Master Cleanse on July 5th and I did it for 19-days total. I completely changed my life. I have fibromyalgia with chronic pain so I would normally take about 5-7 pain pills . I lose 23lbs, the pain is completely gone and I have not take my medication in 23-days. I have lots of energy and exercising daily. Before this clenase I felt hopeless and today I am happy and looking further to my next clense. I will recommend this for everyone.

    Good luck everyone!

  7. We do the master Cleanse twice a year. We use it to detoxify our body the benefit is that we lose 4-6 lbs during the 10 days. The last two years we have gone to a 7 day diet. Although my wife doe s the strict diet, I cheap a bite, I will eat a entire whole raw carrot around 2 pm for a day or three until I can move on. The first time was the toughest but hunger is a part of this diet. As for energy and other things our experience has been that all of our hurts getting up, or walking, the sinus all disappear. We have a lot of energy and no pain. The stool does change color to a black until it compares to a new born, we do not experience difficulty because you are drinking so much liquid. Once the diet is over no cooked food for 2 or three days, nothing fried

  8. I had the same expereince on the master cleanse as well regarding the hunger pains. I did have a ton of energy and lost plenty of weight. I gain a ton of my weight back after the fast. What I have learned is that there are a ton of ways to gain energy without compromising the food.

  9. Anyone on the cleanse right now who would like to communicate?
This is my 4th. The first 3 times I did it for 15 days as my brain was damaged by shingles in 2006. My brain was almost completely restored to normal. This time I’m only doing it for 10 days, due to time constraints.
I LOVE the Master Cleanse and thank you, Raylen, for your excellent e-book which I refered to often when on the cleanse.
