If you ignore the health of your liver is can become clogged with fat which will suppress it’s ability to do its job. If you continue to abuse your liver it can develop scar tissue that leads to serious health problems.

Excess Body Fat Will Be Easier To Lose:
A healthy liver is more efficient at breaking down fat.
The liver plays a central role in all metabolic processes in the body. In fat metabolism the liver cells break down fats and produce energy. They also produce about 800 to 1,000 ml of bile per day. This yellow, brownish or olive green liquid is collected in small ducts and then passed on to the main bile duct, which carries the bile to a part of the small intestine called the duodenum. Bile is important for the breakdown and absorption of fats.

Your Immune System Will Be Stronger:
A healthy liver helps your body to better fight off sickness and disease.
The liver is a unique anatomical and immunological site in which antigen-rich blood from the gastrointestinal tract is pressed through a network of sinusoids and scanned by antigenpresenting cells and lymphocytes. The liver’s lymphocyte population is selectively enriched in natural killer and natural killer T cells which play critical roles in first line immune defense against invading pathogens, modulation of liver injury and recruitment of circulating lymphocytes.

A Healthy Liver Detoxes Your Body
Your body produces a lot of waste. Harmful substances also enter your body from the outside world. You liver helps protect you from this.
The liver plays a key role in most metabolic processes, especially detoxification. The liver is a filter designed to remove toxic matter such as dead cells, microorganisms, chemicals, drugs and particulate debris from the bloodstream. The liver filter is called the sinusoidal system, and contains specialized cells known as Kupffer cells that are part of the white blood cell immune function. They make up 10% of liver weight, and function to ingest and break down toxic matter.

Optimize Your Energy Levels
A healthy liver can help deliver a fresh supply of energy to your entire body.
The liver is a key metabolic organ which governs body energy metabolism. It acts as a hub to metabolically connect to various tissues, including skeletal muscle and adipose tissue. Food is digested in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, and glucose, fatty acids, and amino acids are absorbed into the bloodstream and transported to the liver through the portal vein circulation system.

Your Liver Helps Keep You Looking Young
By now you’re starting to understand your liver’s role in keeping your entire body healthy.
You skin in just another part of your body that can improve when you heal your liver.
A study tracked sets of twins where one damaged their liver with alcohol and one did not. The study showed that the twin who drank ended up with damaged, wrinkled skin.
Women who didn’t drink looked younger than their twins who did. Since the study didn’t track the amount or type of alcohol that drinkers consumed, though, it wasn’t able to suggest exactly what constitutes too much. Actually, research has shown that resveratrol, a substance found in red-wine grapes, can delay aging, Guyuron points out. But in general, excess alcohol consumption can damage blood vessels in the skin. Also, “the liver plays a major role in the quantity and quality of the collagen fibers within the skin layers,” Guyuron says. Translation: Heavy drinking’s harm to liver function can cause wrinkles.

Your gall bladder is a small organ that works closely with your liver in producing bile to aid with a variety of liver functions. The bile comes into the liver and a certain amount can stay there, festering with toxic sludge that the liver has trapped. Together, that bile and toxic ooze begins to congeal, along with cholesterol forming gallstones.
Dr. Hulda Clark, PhD, ND details the process in her bestseller, “The Cure of All Diseases.” While these stones are developing in the liver, they are also acting as magnets, drawing additional toxic matter like viruses, bacteria, and parasites that are being filtered by the liver. When your liver becomes over taxed by too many of these toxins, it can affect the rest of your body. At first, it could be something mild like sluggishness and gradually turn into a chronic fatigue.
And this is the reason why liver cleanses or liver flushes can be beneficial. It helps the liver expel these gallstones from the body.
Chances are your liver, even if you’re healthy, could stand to use a little help.
Dr. Hulda Clark’s Liver Cleanse:.
Ingredients:
1/2 Cup of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 large Grapefruit
4 tablespoon Epsom Salt
3 cups of Purified Water (not from tap)
One of the more unique aspects of this cleanse is that if follows a sequence of time-sensitive actions. The key to doing it properly is to have everything ready and prepared ahead of time.
The Day of the Liver Cleanse: Start with a short fast. Eat and drink nothing (except water), and avoid any supplements or vitamins that you can live without. If you drink water, make sure it’s purified or filtered.
6:00pm: Mix your Epsom Salt and Water; the total ingredients should make approximately 4 servings (each approximately ¾ cup). You will need to find a way to emulsify the salt and water; putting the combined ingredients into a glass with a lid to shake works the best, but you can also stir it until the salt dissolves. Drink 1 (¾ cup) of the 4 servings.
8:00pm: Drink your second serving (¾ cup).
10:00pm: (Before doing this next step, try your best to empty your bowels) Fresh squeeze your grapefruit. You want about ¾ cup of juice. Mix the juice and with 1/2 cup of extra virgin olive oil together, agitate for about a minute. Drink the grapefruit & olive oil (Tip, drinking through a straw may help.) After drinking, immediately lie down in bed and go to sleep. This is critical, laying down helps the process pass more stones; and the sooner the better. You may experience mild discomfort around your body’s mid-section, this is common.
Next Morning: When you wake, take your third Epsom Salt & Water mixture (¾ cup) and try to have a bowel movement. Be sure to have a look and see if you can spot any gallstones. They have the appearance of greenish looking pebbles.
2 hours later: Finish the last of the Epsom Salt & Water mix (¾ cup). Again, be sure to look for any gallstones. Expect anywhere from twenty to as many as fifty. After this final drink, you’re finished with the liver cleanse.
SIDE NOTE: Diarrhea, bloating and cramping are common. Epsom Salt mixed with water act as a powerful enema.
Who Needs a Liver Cleanse?
Most people can benefit from taking better care of their liver.
Even if you haven’t started to develop some the obvious fatty liver symptoms such as weight gain, chronic fatigue, etc. it doesn’t mean that fat deposits haven’t started building up in your liver.
If you regularly consume alcohol, eat unhealthy foods, or you’re exposed to pollution it’s better to start protecting your liver before the symptoms show.
For some people the need to start caring for your liver is of critical importance. For the following groups, caring for your liver is an immediate quality of life issue that you should address right away:
If You Suffer From Chronic Fatigue: Being tired all the time can make life miserable. One of your liver’s primary functions is to turn food energy. Fatigue issues can be corrected by healing your liver.
If You Are Overweight: Excess body weight puts a tremendous strain on your liver. What you’re about to learn will not only help stop the damage you’re doing to your liver if you struggle with your weight, but will also help make your body more efficient at turning food into energy instead of storing it as fat which can help make losing weight easier.
If You Are Sick All The Time: Your liver helps detox your entire body. When it’s not functioning properly your body’s defense against sickness is diminished.
If You Are Under Stress: The cortisol released by your body when you’re under stress has an immediate negative impact on your liver. Stress can also trigger overeating in many people which can also be bad for your liver
If You Are Older Than 35: If you’ve got at least 35 years of mileage on your body you’ll need to start doing a little extra to achieve the same performance you did in your early 20s.
You can continue to enjoy a speedy metabolism and loads of energy but it doesn’t come automatically as it did when your were a kid. You’ll have to do a little extra to keep your body running smoothly.
Caring for your liver is one of the most important things you can do to continue enjoying the benefits of youth into your late 30s, and beyond.
A few other groups of people who can immediately benefit from what we’re about to are those who suffer from insomnia, acne, depression, inflammation, and digestive problems.
When You Should Avoid A Liver Cleanse
There are a couple of good reasons to avoid a liver cleanse…
- If you’re sick wait until you get healthy, first
- It is not recommended for children
- If you’re allergic to Epsom Salt (Magnesium sulfate) or taking a medication that would react to it. This is also true with Grapefruits (especially with certain medications—check with your doctor)
- If you are pregnant
For anyone serious about practicing holistic health, a liver cleanse can be an especially powerful regimen for your detox program. The best time to do it is usually a couple of weeks after you do the Master Cleanse, and should not be done more than 4 times a year. It’s also important to check with a physician about any detox program you pursue to be certain there are not any conflicting health issues.
GOOD LUCK!

Have been sporadically doing the Liver Cleanse over the past few years…but the past 3 liver cleanses that I have done, have not given any ‘real’ results. It was like….’just another night’ with some bowel movement in the morning.
Then I read an article that says:
“In 2008, more than 400 Italian police officers conducted an operation called “Operation Golden Oil,” which resulted in 23 arrests and confiscation of 85 farms. Companies were adding chlorophyll to sunflower and soybean oil and selling it as extra virgin olive oil. As a result of these raids, the Australian government decided to allow olive oil brands to submit their oils for lab tests, allowing them to certify companies as pure “extra-virgin olive oil.” Alas, every company failed to gain certification in 2012.
“Prompted by all of these olive oil scams, researchers at the University of California decided to test 124 different samples from eight major brands of extra-virgin olive oil. Over 70% of the imported oils failed the test.”
The brands that failed to meet the extra virgin olive oil standards were:
– Bertolli
– Carapelli
– Colavita
– Star
– Pompeian
– Santa Sabina
– Primadonna
– Antica Badia
– Sasso
– Coricelli
Trader Joe’s, Safeway, Giant and Whole Foods also failed to meet the extra virgin requirements.
Filippo Berio, Mazola, Mezzetta, and Newman’s Own are also selling fake olive oil.
Brands that you can trust are:
– California Olive Ranch
– Cobram Estate
– Lucini
– Kirkland Organic
– Lucero (Ascolano)
– McEvoy Ranch Organic
– Bariani Olive Oil
– Corto Olive
– Ottavio
– Omaggio
– Olea Estates 100% extra virgin olive oil”
I don’t recall what brand I bought, but I wonder if this had an effect.
Next time, I will select one of the brands that is listed as the one that we can trust.
Hope this helps…..

I would like to know the same thing. I am on the master cleanse currently, I would like to know if I can go right into the liver flush?
The best time to do it is usually a couple of weeks after you do the Master Cleanse, and should not be done more than 4 times a year.
That's what I would like to know, Lexi. Did you receive any helpful replies?
Can I do a liver flush immediately following the master cleanse? Should I do the orange juice step and broth or go straight to flush on the last day of master cleanse?
