There’s a lot of advice online about how to do the master cleanse, but not much on what to do after the master cleanse which is what this reader is wondering about
Hi I am on my 9th day feels great..I plan to go 16 days and then do the ease out for 3 days then start regular solids on the 4th..I’m a bit nervous and confused as 2 what 2 do next…I do know that you have 2 drink orange juice on day 1…but can it be bought at a store and what kind..day 2 veggie and fruit juice same thing..day 3 veggie soup.. what’s the recipe for that and can the broth be canned? And finally wen I return 2 a regular diet where can I shop and what should I start out with..I’ve had good results and would like 2 keep them going.
It’s good that you’re thinking long term and not just looking at the master cleanse as a quick fix. During the 3 day easing off period you should use fresh squeezed fruit juices and homemade vegetable broth. The recipe for the broth can just about any combination of vegetables that you enjoy. You can also add garlic and herbs for flavor.
Here’s my lengthy post about what I suggest you do after the master cleanse.
As far as food shopping goes I always try to support local farmers and businesses by shopping at farmers markets and food co-ops. I also like stores like Trader Joes which has a very nice selection of healthy foods at a reasonable price.

made it a week and only lost 5 pounds! not worth it to me!
Rita,
I have no idea what have u been doing wrong, but I started at 150 and I lost 5 pounds on the first 3 days! Did you got all the right ingredients? Did you do EVERYDAY the salt flushes in the morning and laxatives at night? Sounds pretty weird that you lost so little, but then again every one is different
I am on day 8 of the MC. I have been strict on it and planned to go to day 10, but notice that my tongue is still white...so I'm thinking of maybe taking out 14 days or so. I have felt great overall! As of today I have lost a total of 20lbs. I have not had many of the side effects others have mentioned. I should add that I do the herbal laxative (senna) the night before and the 1L SWF every morning. The change is very noticeable...and I have already started planning what foods I will eat after the MC ease out is complete.
This change in diet is a lifetime change for me. I mentally prepared for the MC for three weeks before I actually started it. I wanted to be on a better eating regimine before my 38 b day later this month..so it is important for me to keep going on the healthy foods and really watch portion control after I am done with the MC.
I should also add that I have not had any starving days or out of control cravings. My family has gone to resturaunts and I am fine with water n lemon. There has been cake at the house and still, no craving for it. I have been slightly hungry...but I drink some lemonade and I'm fine. If I get hungry toward bedtime, I just have some water and redirect my thinking to something other than being hungry. It has been working for me.. I sincerely have ZERO complaints.
Understand though, that everyone is different and as with anything, some things are not for everyone. I do recommend mentally preparing yourself before you start the MC. You won't regret it. I plan to do the MC at least twice a year.

Hi, I am on high blood pressure pills and my blood pressure is regular now, should I keep taking the pills while I am on this cleanse.
Dear Raylen-
I completed a 5 day master cleanse successfully in the end of September 2009 and I had waited 2 years since my last one. I decided to do another 7 day cleanse this month January 2010 and have not had very good results with bowel movements or waste excretion. I am wondering if it is because I did the cleanse too close together??
Raylen i havent started the cleanse yet because i cant find a 1/10th teaspoon where can i find one ?? or is there another way to measure the cayenne!!!!! helpppppppppppppppp
Raylen,
I want to talk to you.
Weighed in at 145.5,started at 151.5. This cleanse is horseshit. I'm starving, not a morsel for 9 days and I lose 6 fucking pounds. I'm destined to be this size and might as well just get over it or I'll be miserable for the rest of my natural life. If you don't lose on this ,you never ,ever will. I'm going to live the way I want.To make me happy. It doesn't matter what I deprive myself of, I still don't lose. I also don't gain much. So I might as well maintain and eat what I like.
I like ,pizza, fried calamari, turkey meat loaf with mashed potatoes, egg fritata's w/potatoes and zucchini, rigatoni w/ sauce and ricotta cheese, buttered grilled lobster roll, fried oysters,
roasted chicken with the works including turkey sausage stuffing. I like toast w/butter in the morning,lox/bagel's and cream cheese. Chocolate , yes I like it once in a while.
This is just the tip of the ice berg.
I'm going to forward this to the web-site for the master cleanse. It's a lot of hooey
