Today is the day before the Master Cleanse starts.

I have to admit I’ve never been this excited about going on the Master Cleanse, and reading through everyones responses to doing the Master Cleanse together has got me itching to get started.

I’ve already rounded up the things I’ll need for the Master Cleanse.

Here’s what I’ll be using:

You can find the steps for preparing the lemonade, and the other steps for finishing the Master Cleanse at Master Cleanse Recipe

Next I want to go over something that gets overlooked by a lot of people who go on the Master Cleanse…

Getting Clear About Your Goals For Doing The Master Cleanse

I always suggest that before you start the Master Cleanse you should write out what you want to accomplish by doing the cleanse.

Even though the cleanse is typically done for only 10 days it’s common for people to give up after the first day. Having clear goals will help motivate you to finish the Master Cleanse. Here’s my goals for doing the Master Cleanse.

My main goal is to share the Master Cleanse with all my newsletter subscribers. Motivation is important for achieving anything in life. Hopefully by publishing this Master Cleanse Journal online, and sharing in the experience I can help motivate others to join me on the Master Cleanse.

I’m also doing the Master Cleanse because I’ve been feeling a little lathargic latly. Winter really bummed me out this year. I’m sleeping more then usual and don’t feel as energetic as I should. I know from past experience that doing the Master Cleanse can help recharge my batteries.

That’s why I’m doing the Master Cleanse now, what are your goals?

If you choose to write out your goals it’s important that you don’t censor yourself. Remember these are YOUR goals.

So if you’re doing the Master Cleanse because you want to look good and attract a lover - That’s fine

Maybe you want to get in shape to show an X lover what they lost - That’s also fine

The Master Cleanse can be used as part of spiritual fast

You can go on the Master Cleanse to instill in yourself a self discipline that you can use in other areas of your life

Of course there’s many health benefits for doing the Master Cleanse as well. What’s important is that you have a strong goal to help motivate you through the cleanse.

Dealing With Hunger

As you can see from the list of ingredients used for the Master Cleanse it’s a restrictive diet, and at some point during the cleanse you’ll certainly get hungry. I know how hard it can be deal with hunger when you’re doing the Master Cleanse, and the only thing I can say is it’s part of the process. By drinking the lemonade, laxatives, and water your body will begin to purge itself of the waste that’s built up over the years. 10 days on the Master Cleanse can undo a lot of the damaged caused by years of unhealthy habits.

With that said I do have some advice to help keep your hunger at bay.

  1. Before you rush to grab something to eat take 5 minutes and ask yourself if you really want to stop the Master Cleanse
  2. When you get hungry drink a BIG glass of water
  3. Go over your list of goals
  4. Go for a walk, or do some other activity to keep your mind off food
  5. Watch a movie, read, play video games (I left out watching TV because food commercials might only make your hunger worse)

It also helps to clear any easy to get at food like frozen pizza, chips, and other snacks from your home when you do the Master Cleanse.
As for me, right now it’s 8:30 pm, and I’ve just finished my last meal before starting the cleanse. I had a chicken breast with green beans and wild rice. I’m feeling good, I’m excited, and I can’t wait for tomorrow.

I’ll be posting to this site daily for the next 13 days (10 days on the cleanse and 3 days going back to normal eating). With each new day I’ll be adding another entry to the home page of this site Master Cleanse Journal.

I’m thrilled that so many people have decided to join in and do the Master Cleanse together. If there’s any questions, or anything I can do to help, you can leave a comment and I’ll try my best to help you out any way I can.

Talk soon,
Raylen

I am excited about the mastercleanse as well and I am looking forward to starting the cleanse on tomorrow. I have been wanting to start for some time now and having a group to do the plan with is really great motivation.

  4. Cindy Gabriel on March 27, 2007 9:43 pm

Serendipitously, I wrote to my friend Cindie who is in Costa Rica and told her I was going to do the cleanse from now thru Passover (no constipating matzah) and she said she had just received this note from you! We are starting on the same day!

I am in Denver and today I needed to be in Colorado Springs and as I was leaving my meeting, I passed Sammy’s Organics, the only store in Colorado that carries the Madal Bal tree syrup. I decided to buy it (expensive!) and they also had organic lemons there for 89 cents a pound.

My 10 year old son is leaving with his Dad to go to Toronto for a week and I have emptied the fridge and pantry. I’ll be squeezing lemons on the old heavy Hamilton Beach that my father used to use in the soda fountain at his drug store in the 1950s.

I’m ready and raring to go.

  5. Jill on March 27, 2007 9:47 pm

I am getting ready to start a business and need some focus to prepare for the next steps ahead.
It is spring and what better time to do a cleans than every season change!!
I’ll have to pull it all together tomorrow, but I may just start a day late and do juice tomorrow. Got the notice just today.

  6. lisa on March 27, 2007 9:49 pm

I’m actually getting this a day late. I started on the cleanse today. This is my second time on the cleanse and I did well the first time. The first couple of days was rough, but I got through it. Good Luck everybody

  7. Linda on March 27, 2007 9:50 pm

I’m in. I’ve made it 9 days, in the past and am SO ready for the energy, clear thinking and sense of well being that follows a cleanse. I’ll pass this on to a friend - Let’s go!

  8. Joan on March 27, 2007 9:52 pm

I’m really not sure what this is all about, but explain, and i will be there!

  9. Rosalie on March 27, 2007 9:52 pm

I plan on joining you for the Master Cleanse. This will be my 3rd time and I am very excited. The first 2 times on the fast I stayed on for 20 and 30 days and each time I dropped 27 and 30 pounds. I normally fast for the weeks leading up to Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter. This fast comes just in time. I’m very excited. Good luck everyone!

  10. Apryl on March 27, 2007 9:53 pm

I’ll join in too! Summer is coming and I need to start something for MYSELF!

  11. Lily on March 27, 2007 9:53 pm

Hey I have asked you two questions on your site on Monday and you never answered me. If you don’t know the answer just say so. I won’t be angry. Please read both of my questions.

    Thanks Lil

i really want to join tomorrow, but you ever responded on what kind of water i can use besides filtered water, because i stay on a college campus and don’t have access to my own personal sink. I was wondering if distilled water would be good.

  13. Carla on March 27, 2007 10:01 pm

I will join you on the Master Cleanse starting Wednesday March 28, 2007. I go on the Master Cleanse twice a year for ten to fifteen days. I went on the Master Cleanse for 30 day the first time I tried it. I lost 30 pounds. I was not hungry at all. I know you don’t recommend this, but it worked for me. Before the Master Cleanse I was allergic to Tomatoes, Chocolate, Seafood, Eggs, and Nuts. Now I can eat all these things in moderation. I have severe Asthma, and the Master Cleanse is the only thing that keeps me off steroids. I am a witness that this has worked for me. My family see a big change too. When ever I get an Asthma attack I get back on the Master Cleanse for three days, and the Asthma clears up. Before the Master Cleanse I would have to go to the ER, and get three shots before the Asthma clears up. Thank you so much for the Master Cleanse. I am looking forward to starting the Master Cleanse with you all. Carla M.

  14. Ashley on March 27, 2007 10:02 pm

I need to know what kind of water i can use to substitute for filtered water cause i live on a college campus and i cant install my own personal water filter. Is distilled water ok

  15. Kenny on March 27, 2007 10:14 pm

What a way to end the season of Lent with a Master Cleanse. I actually started today. I was going to wait until tomorrow but wanted to get started. I will do it for eleven days.

Best wishes to all on this journey.

    Kenny

  16. kate on March 27, 2007 10:23 pm

Yay! Accountability! I’ve been wanting to begin another Master Cleanse for some time now and am so excited to have a group to share the experience with. May we all easily and effortlessly achieve our goals! Here’s to us!

  17. Lynn on March 27, 2007 10:28 pm

    Hello Raylen…(everyone),
I just finished preparing my lemonade mixture for tomorrow. I’ve tried to do this a few times in the last 2 months and was unable to make it past day one.

Now I’ve reached the point of frustration of not being able to fit my clothes comfortably. Ughhh….Hopefully I’ll stay motivated with the support of everyone. :) I have to admit the first time I tried it in August (for my cousin’s wedding) it was difficult, but once you make it past day 3 it’s definitely attainable. I was extremely successful-lost 14 lbs in 10 days, and felt better (energy) than I had in 2 years! I’m praying that this time I’m mentally prepared and will have great results as I did the first time (in August 06).

    Good luck everyone!

    ~Lynn

  18. Derek Scott on March 27, 2007 10:29 pm

I’m in. I expect to build my Spirit threw this fast, and gain all other benefits along the way.

  19. Debbie on March 27, 2007 10:32 pm

Hi, I wish you well on your cleanse. I am on the 5th day myself…the first four were a breeze. Today I could really feel the toxins coming out, so I know tomorrow I will feel better. My goal is 10 or more days. Good luck, Debbie

  20. Mary on March 27, 2007 10:35 pm

I actually started mine on Sunday…And I must say I have not been hungry….If I get a bit on edge I will exercise. It does help. I have honestly not been hungry.

This is my second time doing the fast….I would like to ask however, how important is the salt water enema? I have had a very difficult time getting it down…any suggestions?

  21. Dawn on March 27, 2007 10:36 pm

I wish you aall the very best. I will be following along. I admire you. I have the needed ingredients to get started as I’ve been doing it for a day here and a day there for last few weeks, I m sorry I missed the last newsletter, this will teach me to look through and make sure I don’t miss anything in the future. I am very tempted to say count me in as I have medical reasons as to why I should corner myself into doing it for the full 10 days. Who knows, now that I know I have a team to join, I might just join in tomorrow.

    Sincerely,

  22. Carolyn on March 27, 2007 11:18 pm

I will not be able to start this time but I just came off a 10 days cleanse and lost 15lbs the first week. But I’m scared I will gain the weight back. Please tell me how can I keep the weigth off I tired not to eat but 2 meal a day please give me some advice.

  23. Sharron on March 27, 2007 11:28 pm

I am looking forward to starting this diet, I have been feeling a little run down lately and need to get energizied again. Plus I need to drop a few pounds for summer so I can look sexy in my dresses.(lol)

  24. Shamel on March 27, 2007 11:30 pm

I have done the master cleanse before and I never made the full 10 days! I’m determined to do it this time. A friend of mine went a whole 40 days and nights on the master cleanse! If he can do it for 40 days I can do 10 days correct? Strong will and peace to all going on the fast together!

  25. Kimberly on March 27, 2007 11:35 pm

I am looking forward to the results and making it past the 1st three days. My first experience with the Master Cleanse got me to day 5 and I gave in to the thought of eating something sweet although I wasn’t craving it…I talked myself into it with mind over matter in a bad way! The advice you share is a blessing and it will be great having my good friend and you to encourage me as we succeed in this together.

  26. loren on March 27, 2007 11:49 pm

I don’t know if you ever got my message but i would like to know how to start the cleansing like what to do for the pre-cleansing procedure. I would also like to know if i can use herbal laxative tea instead of the sea salt and is maple syrup grade A can be used as a substitute for grade B?

Can’t wait to hear from you.
    Thanks

  27. Clifford Lee on March 28, 2007 12:08 am

I too am starting the master cleanse Wednesday I hope I can finish strong. I tried it once before and lasted 4 days. I didn’t have a problem with hunger but I became very dehydrated. I don’t think I drank enough water. I only drank small portions of water.

  28. Donna on March 28, 2007 12:20 am

I’m not joining you THIS time, but will avidly be watching your blog. Who knows what I might do in the future.

A question: I’m on medication for high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and hormone replacement therapy. Would I have to quit taking these if I start the cleanse?

  29. Maxine Williams on March 28, 2007 12:28 am

I attempted to start the cleanse Monday. I did o.k. But on Tuesday… I had an overwhelming urge for Popeye’s chicken and Doritos. Needless to say… I broke the fast. I am starting with you on Wednesday and I am going to give it my all. I had done the cleanse about 4 times since January. I have lost a total of 49 pounds and have gained 9 back because of bad eating habits (they are hard for me to break). I need encouragement so I will tune in everyday. Thanks a lot for guidance. Maxine

  31. Kay Curtis on March 28, 2007 1:06 am

I just failed the Master cleanse I lasted 7 days and followed the 3 day routine of getting off. this was my first time doing it. I just could not stand the drink anymore. I like your idea of flavoring the drink; I will do that the next time, which you had done this a week earlier. I will join you the next time

  32. Karen on March 28, 2007 1:10 am

    Raylen-
I am in Minnesota and not sure where I find the teas? Also is there a liquid form to the cayenne pepper? I tried doing the cleansing once and didn’t make it because no matter what little amt of the pepper I put in it was too hot for me. One more question? When you say you mix in herbal tea to add variety do you make the tea and add the other ingredients to it? Silly questions I know but I really want this to work for me but get confused.

    Thanks

  33. Lauren on March 28, 2007 1:11 am

Thanks. I too am starting today! So glad you e-mailed me. ( If you had not I mit have eat something in the morning and blew it) lol I wonderful to know you are just a click away. The last time I went on the cleanse I lasted 4 days, on the 4 day I had read that others had already lost pounds and I was a t the some weight. Ugggh, so I went to the chinese buffet. lol Then I realized food is so over rated. I comsumtion of large amounts of food is so gready. We dont need it like we think we do. Well after that day I vowed to start again.
So here I am! I in it to win it. Thanks again so much.

    Hi Raylen

I did the master Cleanse November last year,
    (2006)

I only went for 5 days, as I was loosing weight so fast. My weight was 128 lbs, during the 5 days I lost 25 lbs, then I stopped because I didn’t expect to loose that much so fast. I just wanted to cleanse my system. I enjoyed the suggested meal plan afterwards, and it has become my daily meal plan now! I am now 126 lbs, I think I am ok with that.

I must say that I felt good, never felt hungry. I will probably do that again in May.

I wish you all good luck. I will check in to see how you are all doing and cheer you from the side line!!

    Warm regads

    Elizabeth

  35. MARGARET WHEELER on March 28, 2007 1:38 am

OK today is the first day for me and I am feeling great not hungry at all. I will be drinking two full glasses of my Lemonade juice and contining throughout the day.I KNOW WITH THE SUPPORT OF YOU ALL I WILL FINISH because this is a hard diet to do but I am for the true results this time so if you see me posting more than anything that is because I need THE SUPPORT. HAVE A BLESS EVERYONE.

  36. Kim Ruff on March 28, 2007 2:32 am

I to have took my tea tonight to start the cleanse tomorrow. This will be my second try the first time I gave in after 5 days, but I am sticking to it for ten days this time.Especially since the pizza I gave in to wasn’t good anyway.

  37. Sheila Berryhill on March 28, 2007 3:54 am

I am definitely in I have tried it and after the 5th day I gave up, but I am going to hang for the 10 days this time. No turning back I am going to give it all I have. I need to lose at least 20lbs so that I can fit my clothes more comfortable and feel more lighter and healthier.

    Sheila

  38. Sheila Berryhill on March 28, 2007 3:57 am

This is to Elizabeth, what were you doing to lose so much weight in five days like that?

    Sheila

I will be starting the cleanse today and hope to last the 10 days.I’m having a terrible time with allergies and hope the cleanse will relieve my discomfort. Oh, I also hope to lose a few pounds, I’m hoping the extra support will keep me focused. Good Luck everyone!!

  41. Viki on March 28, 2007 5:10 am

I have done this cleanse twice and am going to do it again starting April 9th. I cannot do it any earlier as I have too much going on. For all you doing it you will not regret it. I lost weight that I have not put back on, I mean if you want to be healthy just cleansing will not suffice, you must continue. I have great energy and all and all it was a great experience. I am shooting for 14 days this time !!! Good luck all……

  42. T Stewart on March 28, 2007 5:24 am

I am currently on the cleanse. Today is my last day. I will take 3 days off and start the cleanse again this Sunday for another 3 days. My ultimate goal is to do the cleanse for at least 14 days not including the 3 days off.

    Good Luck to everyone….

  43. T Stewart on March 28, 2007 5:26 am

What kind of flavoring do you add to the drink? It does get tiring after while, drinking the same thing daily. Please help!!!

  44. TaLisa on March 28, 2007 5:40 am

I received you email at 11:45 pm, EST. I wish I had known, as I would have loved to have had someone…or a support group…with me while on the Master Cleanse. I tried it alone but was not successful. Attempting to do this during the week of my birthday was a poor choice for me.

Is it okay if I start a day or 2 after you?

  45. SUNNIE on March 28, 2007 5:41 am

I WANT TO DO THE CLENSE WITH YOU IM EXCITED THAT YOU HAVE A SUPPORT GROUP…

  46. Kathy Sumner on March 28, 2007 5:52 am

I am going to try the master cleanse, but my health is not too good at this time. I am autoimmune suppessed and I hope this will help clear up some of my physical problems. I do hope I can do better this time. I only lasted about 3 days the first time. Good Luck to all that are brave enough to try.

  47. Joan Antoine on March 28, 2007 6:00 am

I know it might be difficult but I want to try it. I have never done it before but now that spring has started I need all the help I can get. Help.

I just saw that you’re starting today and am unprepared to begin with you. But hopefully I can begin tomorrow and follow along with all of you, only a day behind. My desire is that it will be a catalyst to some spiritual cleansing along with the physical as we approach Easter. My best wishes to everyone.

I missed the first note to start, but I hope to start on Thursday. My goal would be to renew my spirit. Do health food stores or Ukrops have the Uniodized sea salt?

  50. kay on March 28, 2007 6:25 am

My husband just came of the cleanse…. in 5 days he lost 10 lbs!!! Not only did he drop the lbs.. but his skin is AMAZING!!!!! I plan to begin mine with you as well– can’t wait to see my slimmer self again!!

  51. Inez on March 28, 2007 6:28 am

What are some ways to get through the Master Cleanse, when you have small children and have to cook their meals, and when you are at work and everyone else is making their lunch?

I tried to start it once before but only got through 4 days because of this. I want to be able to stay all ten days. Do you have any advice?

  52. Kelli on March 28, 2007 6:28 am

I am starting today also. I was successful a few years ago and it really helped me lose that last 8-10 lbs. I was feeling more energetic for my workouts. I gained a lot of weight over the last 9 months (most of it in the last 3) and have been trying to start this diet for a long time..I’m not sure why I have been having such difficulty this time. I am looking forward to the inspiration here. The hardest part for me is not drinking coffee/chai in the morning..ugh.

  53. lori on March 28, 2007 6:33 am

Hello I am very excited about starting the cleanse. I have a question, how do you use the salt? Please let me know. Thanks

  54. Stacy on March 28, 2007 6:33 am

I am going to buy my lemons today. I am going to use this a spiritual fast as I begin to prepare for my journey to become an effective worship leader.

I am looking forward to this.
May the Holy Spirit fill me and help me and direct my path.

I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS. MY SISTER HAS BEEN ON 3 OR 4 ISOGENICS CLEANSES THAT COSTS ABOUT $150 FOR 9 DAYS. IT REALLY WORKED FOR HER. I HAVE BEEN SO UNHEALTHY WITH PROBLEMS DIGESTING DAIRY PRODUCTS AND MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN COUGHING AND COLD SYMPTOMS FOR ALMOST 3 WEEKS!! I WISH I COULD GET HIM TO DO THIS WITH ME, HE IS ALWAYS SQUEEZING LEMONS…GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!

    thanks for the great instruction

I’m in….I so need this right now, I need to loose a good 40lbs, I’m tired of seeing myself with all this extra weight….especially being vegetarian and I work out like a dog 6 days a week. I feel like a fraud….but my problem is I work from home and tend to pick all day long, especially when its hectic. The only obsticle I see is that I’m going to NY on Thursday to my moms house and cooking….. which will be extremly hard to resist, but I’m going to give it my all…..wish me luck!!

  59. liz on March 28, 2007 7:06 am

Hi. I will be doing the master cleanse as well. I have already done it once for eight days and this time I want to try to go for 20-30 days. I hear that it gets easier the longer you’re on it! Could you possibly give me feedback or information about doing it for an extended period of time? I am a little apprehensive…
    cheers

  60. Yvonne on March 28, 2007 7:20 am

    Raylen,

My husband and I both started Master Cleanse last night. However, we both take sinus medication (Claritin D 24hr). We didn’t take it last night, however, this morning we woke up with a banging headache. Do you know if continuing our sinus medication would affect the Master Cleanse?

  61. kelley on March 28, 2007 7:27 am

I am on day 10 of my cleanse today, and although I don’t have alot of excess weight, I don’t always eat right and have done the cleanse once before (6 months ago), with great results. I feel great…..and I’ve lost 7.5 lbs, which is alot for me. I do have probably 15 excess pounds. Last time I lost 9 lbs, and kept all off except for 3, but over the past 6 months have slowly put them back on. It is a commitment, but a great way to sort of kick-start healthy eating habits. Good luck to all of you….in 9 days you will be where I am and glad you did it. I am just thrilled that I am on day 10!!!!

    Kelley….Scottsdale, AZ

  62. tammy jackson on March 28, 2007 7:29 am

I had already committed myself a few weeks ago to start the master cleanse diet on Monday; so this is starting day 3 for me. This is only the 2nd time I’ve done the cleanse. The 1st time was last August and I was on it for 4 days and then 2 days of coming off of it before going back to solid foods. During the time, I lost 10 lbs. and felt great about myself and so much healthier. I’m sure alot of it was just the mental feeling of knowing that for the 1st time ever, I was getting toxins and waste out of my body. My reason for starting the cleanse now is to cleanse the toxins from my body and have the healthy feeling like I did last time I went on the cleanse and I also wanted to shed 10-15 lbs. before bikinni weather arrives. As for this cleanse that I’m on now, I’m proud to say I have lost 6 lbs. already and am already feeling healthier. I’m really busy at work during the day, so the only time I have gotten really hungry seems to be each day between 5:30-6:30pm when I am home from work and this is my wind down period before getting into my evening and night time schedule. I’ve found that this is a good time to go ahead and get busy making up my batch of 64 oz. lemonade for the next day and to prepare my herbal tea and have it ready to drink that night. I like it cold, so it gives me time to chill it. Each morning, I wake up feeling refreshed and ready to start a new day of cleansing. This is day 3 for me and if I continue as planned, tomorrow will be my 4th and last day of the lemonade and herbal tea cleansing and then I will spend the next 2 days drinking juices and water and ease into fruits and vegatables. By Sunday, I will be back to a regular diet, but plan to continue eating less and healtier foods like fruits and veggies and staying away from the junk and fattening foods, so that I can maintain the weight I have lost down to during the cleanse and not gain it all back by overindulging.

Hello, I am on day 8. My last day of Master Cleanse and I FEEL WONDERFUL!!!!! I have lost 11 pounds…I really see it in my stomach area. My skin is soooo smooth and I have much more energy then before. The first day was kinda rough for me the hunger pains tried to take me out…but I survived. Day 2 I had a headache in the AM but as the day went on it went away. Day 3 through 7 have been great! No cravings to eat…even when tempted over the weekend several times by some of my most favorite foods! My goal is to maintain good healthy eating habits and exercise…(love to ride my bike). My 50th birthday is tomorrow and I’m having a big party on Saturday. THANK YOU for your GREAT TIPS…they really helped in aiding me to understand the diet and keep my focus. It takes WILL POWER…because I never thought I could go 8 days without eating!!! My family is very impressed!! Thanks again and good luck to all those who are beginning their diet. Take if from me…an ordinary person….IT IS POSSIBLE TO ACHIEVE…and the results are MAGNIFICIENT!

Raylen, thank you for keeping me posted. As much as I am sure I need the Master Cleanse, mentally and physically I am trust not ready. But keep me in the loop during these 10 days as I would like to follow along with your experience. How hard would the cleanse be as I work fulltime and am usually doing theatre in the evenings and weekends.

  66. Tina on March 28, 2007 8:00 am

Its a coincidence, because i had planned to start the cleanse today(wednesday) as well. This will not be my first time, I have tried a few times before, I think once I made it for 5 days, althought i did cheat a little in between. Neither times did i loose any weight which is what i am doing the cleanse for but of course I am seeking the health benefits as well. AS you said at times i get extremely hungry and sometimes i can over look it or drink more lemonade but sometimes that is just nit enough. I also drink favored tea, is that okay…yes i do add some sugar, is that a really big problem?…i really want to see this thru, I dont know if i will make it for 10 days, the weekends are really going to be hard, i usually can last during the work week, but when the weekend comes, with it comes the enticements. good luck to you and all others as well….today is the day!!!

Hey I think I will jump on board I just got up so I need to think fast. I can’t get maple syrup here so I will use black strap molasses until I can get to the city. I have a cruise coming up on April 13 could sure use to lose the winter pounds fast…

  68. Tracey on March 28, 2007 8:07 am

    Hey Raylen,

I’ve tried the master cleanse so many times. The first time I did it I lasted 2 1/2 days and lost 7 lbs. But gained it back because I started eating like crazy afterwards. Today I plan on starting again and sticking to it for the whole 10 days this time!!

    Good luck to you!!!

  69. Angelia on March 28, 2007 8:08 am

Hi, I think that I put too much cayenne pepper in my mixture. I used 60oz of water to make enough for a day and 1/2 tsp of cayenne pepper, but, the mixture is a little spicy for me. It may be because I never eat spicy foods. Did I add too much cayenne or is the mixture suppose to have a little kick to it?

  70. Mauri on March 28, 2007 8:13 am

I’m on day # 10 of my cleanse.
This is my second cleanse and I love the way I feel….physically and mentally. It’s great!
I’d encourage anyone to do this cleanse. It’s the BEST!
Hang in there…you can do it!!!
    Go for it!

  71. Lydia on March 28, 2007 8:19 am

I am glad I check my email today…I was thinking about doing the Master Cleanse again. I just did it for 10 ten days the last week of Feb and the 1st Week of March. Right after I took a new job and I have been reaaly off my program of healthly eating. I have all the materials to do the cleanse…can I do it again with you good people? I have clear my house of all items last night when I was thinking about it1

  72. Sara P. on March 28, 2007 8:23 am

Okay. So I have decided to start the Master Cleanse tomorrow. I tried it once but only lasted 5 days. And I regret giving up. The first 3 days were horrible. I was so damn hungry….but then I started having energy and waking up early. I couldn’t believe it. And I was losing weight. But then the hunger came back and I gave in. I am going to try to go through with it this time. THE WHOLE 10 DAYS.

  73. bev on March 28, 2007 8:38 am

Is one laxative more harsh than another. The one I bought is Smooth Move. Will it be harsher than the one you have?

  74. Johnny Lane on March 28, 2007 8:52 am

    Ok Raylen you are on.

This would be a great time to do the spring cleaning. Last night I went out to my favorite sushi bar and had some of my not so normal food. So I am now ready. I just got through with my large class of the wonderful salt water, I love that the most, and now I am off to work with 10 hours of tennis lessons today. I have the chef at the club preparing the drink for me each day, he is the real non believer of the whole thing so I got him involved as well and half of the kitchen staff. So I had my salt water drink about 1/2 hour ago and I am off,,,,,,opps wait a minute,,,,,,,,,, wow that stuff works fast. Now I am off to work. Talk to you tomorrow.
    Johnny
PS Is it ok to work out during the cleanse?

  75. Jacinta on March 28, 2007 9:10 am

I also want to do the master cleanse where do you get every thing you need to do it at? does it matter about the lemons or no?

    Hi Raylen,
    Thank you for this Blog.
I started this diet on Monday, and so far am feeling fine. Although I have not had the “cleansing” occur that I expected.
I’m wonderinf if anyone has had a similar experience?
If any one has please let me know.
    Thank you

  79. Kim on March 28, 2007 10:02 am

Thanks for the invitation but I just got off the Master Cleanser last Thursday March 22. I did the 10 day fast and I lost 10 pounds. I truly thank God for giving me the strength to go the whole 10 days without cheating or losing my mind. I prayed a lot & worked out 5 nights a week. My co-workers teased me with food & I just laughed at them while drinking my jug of lemonade. However, the hard part for me was not eating but the laxative (elimination) part. It was difficult on the days that I had to go to work. I would never know when it would come down so I would be uncomfortable & afraid of having an accident. Everyone’s experience is different and I thank God for mine!

  80. Barb on March 28, 2007 10:17 am

I was hesitant on joining because of ongoing & upcoming events, but it seems something is always coming up and going on.. BUT….here I am as I didn’t want to miss out. I have redeveloped bad eating habits and have found more excuses for it along with the lack of exercise. What better time to do something with the support, guidence and comments of others…especially since this is the first time. I started this morning and the lemonade drink w/the pepper is alittle hard to swallow. I am also experiencing a slight headache, although I don’t have hungar pains as yet!!. Wish me luck and good luck to all. The thought of striving for better health will ultimately keep me going

  85. Vicki Courtney on March 28, 2007 11:33 am

    Hi Raylen,

Today is day 5 for me on the Master Cleanse. Yesterday in afternoon I felt awful - even had chills - but went home from work & took a nap. Today I feel good again. I almost broke down & ate something, but kept telling myself it would pass & I would feel better. I’m so glad I waited it out & got past the “icky” feeling. As I remembered this morning, for some reason, day 4 has always been the hardest for me & now I’m over the hump! I’m not hungry, just not satisfied, but I can do anything for 5 more days. I remember coming off & starting to eat again was a little tricky too, so over weekend I’ll make the vegetable soup & get ready for that part. Thank you so much for the inspiration you are instilling in others. Good luck today with your day 1 - stay excited, you’ll feel great @ the end.

    Vicki

Hi there, just have a few quick questions. Where do you get the maple syrup and the tea? Walmart doesnt carry it. Does GNC? The lemons, salt and cayenne pepper can be purchased from Walmart, but I cant find the syrup and the tea. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  90. Lola on March 28, 2007 1:16 pm

I have done the master cleanse twice already with my sister. We did it both times for 14 days. The second time was harder than the first for both of us but we stuck it out. We are planning to cleanse again in May and we are going to keep strict in mind that it is for cleansing and NOT weight loss. We both loved the way we felt while doing the cleanse, not weighed down or full of intestinal gas. I would have loved to start along with this group cleanse but it is too soon after my last. Good luck to everyone. Stay pumped and postive! While it may be hard, it is possible to finish successfully!

  91. Sharon on March 28, 2007 2:46 pm

I did the cleanse once before and I am looking forward to doing it again. Unfortunately I cannot start with you right now but I wish you and all the other the best of luck. I felt great doing the cleanse the first 3 days was the hardest. I am feel lazy right now and I know that I need to repeat the cleanse. Cant’t wait to get started.

  92. Gwennette on March 28, 2007 3:16 pm

I’m happy to hear that you decided to do the cleanse this week. Actually, my husband and I started on Monday and ended on Monday. By noon we both had headaches and were rather moody. He called around noon to let me know that he couldn’t take it anymore. I did last just a couple of hours more. Around 8pm, during preparing something for our children, I decided to get rid of the headache and the bad attitude as well as my desire to EAT. The next day I discovered that you were starting today.
I have started again today and wish everyone that is going on this journey success. I pray that I will exceed the 10 days. I must confess last October I tried and lasted for almost 5 days and lost 15 unexpected pounds. I started then and this time for health reasons. I can honestly say that I actually felt more energy eating NOTHING than I have for the last couple of years of my life. I also, need to lose a lot of weight, but most importantly, I’m seek spiritually discipline.
Thank you so very much for all the information you have shared regarding this cleanse, it certainly has been VERY helpful.
We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

I am excited about doing the mastercleanse as a group. I started on Monday and I have lost 6 lbs. I feel great. I need the support because I start and don’t finish. People really don’t understand the masterclease, so they make dumb comments. I have seen the results first hand and what a difference it’s made in my life. If you have never done the mastercleanse, really give it your all, it’s worth it.

  97. Tammi Ndiaye on March 28, 2007 5:42 pm

I just got your email and I am late to start the cleanse, but I have tried to do it so many times, and have never lasted more than 2 days this time I would really like to try it, I will have to start it on Friday because I’m working all day today and tommorrow and will not have enough time to go and get what I need. I have so many health issues, and I am pretty sure its because I am over weight, I am 33 and I don’t ovulate, and I want a baby really bad. I hope with everyone of you trying to reach your goal, and with your support, I can reach my also.

  98. Kelley on March 28, 2007 5:57 pm

I just started the cleanse, literally right now, at 7:50pm on Wednesday. I had to gather all of the ingredients today. I did this once last August and went for 5 days, so I am really shooting for the 10 this time. I am going to be on vacation with my kids and other family, so I am hoping it will actually be a little easier not having to be cooking all the time!

I’m in the middle of my master cleanse first ever master cleanse, first ever detox diet and it already has changed my whole feeling for food. I’m going to try to eat natural foods for now on.

I have two great recommendations! Instead of powdered cayenne pepper use an herbal cayenne pepper extract. A great herbal tea is Tazo Refresh, it has a slight winter green flavor to it. Last but not least, it is true, you will start to crave the delicious lemonade. I’m going to drink it every day even after I finish my cleanse!

  102. Toi on March 28, 2007 8:40 pm

    Raylen,
I speak with a lot of people during the day,can I chew gum or eat a breath mint while on the cleanse? Though I brush and floss and brush my tongue, my breath stinks on the cleanse. I don’t want to scare people away with bad breath.

  108. ERNESTINE MULLIN on March 29, 2007 3:28 pm

    Hello Raylen!!

All Aboard and Fly High with Positive thoughts!!

I, Ernestine Mullin, have finished my Master Cleanse about two weeks ago with much success!!

My problems started happening after the Cleanse. I had a house to sell!! Lots of stress and also have a very active 15-month old puppy to care for. As well, some other stresses cropped up!

However, I am trying to get back on track now with the Tread Mill, the Gazelle and weights.

I have two incisional hernias that have to be repaired, but the kicker is that I must lose 60 pounds!! (and I am hypothyroid to boot!)

All that stated, I am not giving up, but gearing up again to carry on!!! YEA-A-A!

I was fine on the Master Cleanse but the old ’sweet tooth’ started haunting me!

I think I will have to order the Hoodithin to help keep me on the ’straight and narrow’!

I am not sure how much time must pass before one can resume the Cleanse??? I thought I would have to wait until May, at least. What are your thoughts on that, Raylen?

However, I wish all of you great success!

On my 3rd day and doing GREAT! not using the tea yet because the SWF seems to be working so well. Energy lavel has been about the same, but I find I want to go to bed earlier and wake up earlier to get into the new day. Night-time snacking has always bee a problem, but not these 3 days.

  127. AJ on June 1, 2007 5:41 am

Day 7…Doing great, feeling good! Still get mild cravings but these are spaced farther apart and les intense than before. Going on travel was a struggle, but I managed to stay on, with out the SWF. I did hwever drink some herbal decaf tea when I had no lemonade available and some diet soda. No noticible effects, but I’m glad to be home and back in the regimen.

    Hi Raylen!

I’m hearing so much about the “master cleanse” through various websites and I’m wondering, have you heard of Dr Jenson’s seven-day cleansing program? I’m actually on my second day of HIS cleanse using a home colonic board…the main difference that I can see is that he used a multitude of supplements in his cleanse and it’s only 7 days, not 10. Now I’m considering extending this cleanse to 10 days, if the benefits are really that much greater…after doing 7 days, what’s another 3 if the pay off is worth while?

I am a little apprehensive about this cleanse. I have tried any cleanse programs before and was not at all successfull. What really makes this work any diffrently that the others and is it really possible to stay on this 10 days without food!

I’m not fat nor skinny but I work out everyday, eat healthy and still no results. I want to try the master cleanse but I want some people’s comments about it first. Do you gain the weight back? I’m also at a point in my life where I become depressed and have complete lack of energy for no apparent reason. Will it help with that?

Hey, I just finished this cleanse 3 weeks ago, I was on the cleanse for 20 days, and dropped 15 lbs, but lost control and ate crazy lots of junk, and gained most of my weight back, wondering if I could start the cleanse again or should I wait longer?? p.s. also during those 3 weeks I ate, I tried to do the cleanse again but would only last for one day, did that few times already!!! But anyways, I need to lose weight and feel that i need to clean out my system again..can anyone please answer my questions if they know? Thank you!!!! I appreciate it!

This new study may also support findings by the University of Texas, which found a long- term decline in certain nutritious elements in conventionally grown fruit and vegetables. The researchers theorized that this too reflected the increasing use of synthetic chemical fertilizers over a half- century- a theory that researchers around the world are pursuing, according to a San Francisco Chronicle report last year.

    Hi Raylen,
    How are you?

I have a question that I can’t seem to find the answer to on the internet. I recently did the master cleanse. It was my first cleanse and lasted a total of 25 days. I had no negative reactions to the cleanse. I felt great doing it. It was amazing to wake up every morning to see my body transform.

I’m 5′6, in my early thirties and when I first started the MC I weighed 139. After the 25th day on the MC I weighed 122. Now I weigh 130. My happy goal weight is 120.

Here’s my question… How long do I have to wait before I start a short master cleanse?
    Maybe 3-10 days??

I think the reason why I gained the weight back is because I didn’t incorporate exercise after cleanse and my HORRIBLE, BAD eating habits came back.

    Thank you.
