5:21am: It’s Day 2 of the Spring Master Cleanse, and I woke up a little earlier then usual so I thought I would make a quick post.

So far everything is going great. I feel energetic, and while my stomach was growling this morning I can’t say that the hunger has got to me yet.

I haven’t had any eliminations this morning, but I just finished a cup of laxative tea 5 minutes ago so I’m sure that it will happen shortly.

I don’t expect today to be as easy as yesterday. In my experience the 2nd and 3rd days are the most difficult. The good news is once you get past those your body starts to adapt to the cleanse and your hunger begins to subside.

One more thing before I go. I tried to post some videos in the Day 1 journal entry, but they don’t seem to be working. I have them posted on my main site and they all seem to play fine. If you get bored, or need some motivation these videos are worth watching. Here’s the link http://mastercleansesecrets.com/videos/diary.php

I’ll be back this afternoon with another update. Keep up the good work! - Raylen

————————————————————–

4:45pm I’m just wrapping up work for the day, and I still feel good. I’m defiantly starting to feel the effects of the Master Cleanse, but it hasn’t gotten to the point of discomfort. I’ve been popping in and reading all the comments on this blog and it’s really helped keep me motivated.

I’ve already went through my 60 ounce pitcher of lemonade, and it’s not even 5:00 so I’m going to have to whip up another batch to get me through the day. But, you got to do what you got to do and between the water, lemonade, tea, and salt water it really does do a good job of controlling hunger.

My elimination this afternoon was mostly liquid with some chaff like substance. (I know this is gross, but hey we’re all going to experience this so no point in being shy) . I like to do some gentle abdominal exercises throughout the day to help loosen up the waste and internal plaque in my stomach and intestines.

I did get a dinner invite from a friend today to go out for Pho, which is this amazing Vietnamese noodle dish. I declined, but it’s important to know that these little temptations are going to pop up a lot over the next 10 days. It’s really going to test your will power but it’s important stick to your goal and focus on the end result.
I’m off to make another pitcher of lemonade. I’ll make another entry later on tonight, and I’ll also be answering some more questions on the Master Cleanse Question Page

Half way through Day 2 and still going strong, Raylen

———————————————————————————

1.02am

Sorry I’m a little late posting the final update for the night, I’ve been working some bugs out of this site.

Anyway, so far Day 2 went well.  It’s 1:00 in the morning right now, and I’m defiantly feeling the affects of not having eaten in 2 days. I used to get really bad migraine headaches as a kid and whenever I go on the Master Cleanse the first side effect I notice is a headache. What I’m feeling now is nowhere near as bad as a migraine, it’s more like a slight pressure on my entire head. I’ve been up since 5:00am so I’m sure being up this late also has something to do with it.

I’m also feeling more energetic. It’s difficult to describe but it’s like my body is pulsing with more energy then usual - I feel lighter and more alert.

I drank the salt water flush about 2 hours ago, and it went to work right away. The elimination was mostly liquid. I might take some psyllium husk tomorrow to help force some solid bowel movements. I buy psyllium husk in bulk and mix it with water, but you can also use psyllium husk capsules if you want.

I’ll be updating the question and answer page before I call it a night. You can find that at Master Cleanse Questions

Before I finish up on this Day 2 entry I just want to congratulate all of you who made it this far. I know it might seem difficult, but don’t give up.

That’s all for Day 2, I’ll be right back here tomorrow for the start of Day 3 - Raylen

Good morning everyone! I got through day one and it was hard I tossed and turned all night. I don’t know if I’m hungry or if I am just used to getting up eating breakfast. I have a lot of energy. I just hope I can make it through day two because day one was a real challenge. I use the laxative tea in the morning and before I go to bed instead of the sea salt. I think I will try the sea salt this morning if I can get it down if not I will use the laxative. Well good luck everyone I waiting to hear everyone comments about day one.

I am starting the cleanse today. I normally use a senna tea. The brand is Alvita

  3. Tammy on March 29, 2007 5:51 am

I am into my 4th day now and not sure I can continue. The hunger and not eating is not bothering me but it is the horrible headaches. Any suggestions? I have about decided to start coming off tomorrow. I will see how today goes.
    Thanks

I made it through day one, it was hard. I work around food all day. Its hard not to put something in my mouth, so I think on the goals I have set for myself to focus.

Great Day!! Good Morning everyone……..I made it with no hunger and I’m ready for day two. If you all follow the “instuctions” you can make it without too much discomfort. If you have not done this before there can be headaches and other aches and pains which just means you are full of toxins. Keep up the good work and hang in there…….the good days are coming and you will not only feel GREAT you will have energy to burn!! Just Do It!!

  7. tammy jackson on March 29, 2007 7:36 am

This is starting day 4 of my cleanse and I feel great. I got on the scales this morning and I have lost 8 lbs. in the 3 days. Unreal!!! I haven’t had any headaches or felt bad whatsoever. I actually feel great! I’ve even been able to continue my 30 minute work out routine each evening without any problem. The only time I have gotten really hungry is in the evening/night when my schedule has slowed down and I’m not doing much. I had committed myself to staying on the Cleanse for 4 days but I am thinking about going for 5 days and then having the weekend to come off of it with consuming only orange juice and water on Sat. and maybe a salad and some veggies on Sun. This is the BEST diet that I’ve tried that has made me lose the weight so fast and feel healther at the same time. In the past, I’ve been on diets and working out for a month and not felt as good and lost the weight that the Master Cleanse has done for me in only 3 days! Good luck to everyone!!

  8. Joyce on March 29, 2007 7:45 am

The people I know who had the best results and made it at least 10 days all used the sea salt wash in the morning.

I personally have been on this a few times once for 16 days and I could not have made it with out the sea salt wash.

It bathes your insides, you have to understand how it works, it is just like getting saline solution in the hosp if you were dehydrated plus it flows through your body different than other liquids, and it cleans “stuff” out of your digestive system.
You will be “Amazed” what comes out after about day 6 or 7. I personally feel without the sea salt wash you will not get the results you want.
The tea at night works the same way……..it cleans out tough clogged stuff which is then washed out with the morning sea salt wash. Keep up the Good work!!

  9. ann on March 29, 2007 8:12 am

Tammy….keep going you can do it. The headache will go away just give it another day…..it just shows that your body is getting rid of the toxins. Your body will thank you. After today you only have 5 days left…..you will feel amazing!!!!

  10. Lisa on March 29, 2007 8:31 am

Feeling pretty good on day two. I did the saline rinse yesterday at lunch as I had more time than in the morning. Is this as beneficial as first thing in the am? Also, would black strap molasses work just as well as the maple syrup? It has much more iron in it. Going into the weekend is going to be challenging but I am planning on making it the entire 10 days…

  11. Jenny on March 29, 2007 8:48 am

    Day 5 for me.

Feel great, not hungry at all.

Just wanted to let some of you know that are asking questions about eating food, NO FOOD IS ALLOWED WHILE ON THIS DIET.

Eating a sandwich or a handful of nuts is defeating the purpose of cleaning your body and giving your organs a chance to get clean.

I give you kudos for trying, but in order to get the full effect of the cleanse the only items allowed are the lemonade (fresh sqeezed lemons/limes only), tea (laxative or peppermint), water and the salt water flush.

Good luck to the rest of you on the cleanse, happy journey.

  12. Carol on March 29, 2007 9:55 am

    Good Morning Everyone!
I woke up ready for success! I am getting ready to drink my salt water and hit the treadmill. Happy day of success to all!

  14. Lorraine on March 29, 2007 10:09 am

I am also on day two of the cleanse and it’s going great… i did a 30 min cardio workout yesterday with energy to spare. It was only the first day,but i’m hoping this energy will carry throughout the ten days. No headaches yet which is fantastic, and few little growls. My question is apart from the senna and pepperment tea are you allowed to drink any other herbal teas. Such as Green tea for example?

  15. Denisha on March 29, 2007 10:18 am

What is the sea salt for?

  16. Jill on March 29, 2007 10:30 am

I drove 20 miles yesterday to get my organic limes. We need more health food stores!!
I feel a stronger dedication to this my second time around and thanks Raylen for posting those videos.
This cleanse comes down to the power of the will only. Continue to remind yourself what it is doing for your body and how polluted our bodies have been.
I used 2 teaspoons of sea salt in 1 quart of warm water this moring and have been to the batheroom 5 times! I am so excited to clean all that out of me; and this is just the beginning!
Limes are the way to go; they taste better than lemons (in my opinion). In regards to the teas, Raylen suggested herbal teas. These are decaffinated (SO NO GREEN TEA). You should try for organic herbal teas to avoid pesticides into your body. I am enjoying the concoction for now, but I know in a few days it will wear on me. OK enough. Stay strong everyone!!!

  17. Dani S. on March 29, 2007 10:34 am

    Good Morning everyone,

I am starting the Cleanse today. I worked this morning from 4am to 9am at a coffee shop. It was hard to resist the food samples with our morning coffee tasting, but I did it! I tried the cleanse once before and I am not really sure I ever made it past day one. I am doing this to investigate my attatchments to food because I am realizing, I think about it ALL THE TIME! I drank about 1 oz. to taste a new coffee but from here on out, I am committed. I am looking forward to any weight loss that comes but my main goal is to clean out my old junk and have a fresh start with my body and healthy eating habits.

Let’s keep on encouraging one another!! Good luck everyone!

  18. Joan Antoine on March 29, 2007 10:42 am

I am unable to get the pure maple syrup so I will have to do without it.

  19. Louisa on March 29, 2007 11:14 am

Day 2 for me as well! Boy do I ever have a headache. I will not quit! This to will pass.
I have not been able to bring myself to drink salt water so I had a laxative tea first thing this am.
Kodos to ALL of US for this is not easy. I am not hungry though, I just keep drinking the Lemonade.

  20. Martha on March 29, 2007 12:04 pm

Day 2 for me, too! I awoke to cramps and feeling light-headed (I almost fainted), then the headache set in. I now have pain in my lower abdomen and back–and my stomach feels bloated. I’m also tired (but, I’m not hungry). I guess I needed this cleanse more than I realized. I ‘m also seeing how I eat out of habit and not because I’m hungry. I look forward to getting past these first few days and regaining energy. Thanks for all the support everyone is providing–good luck to all!

  21. Shiniqua G.- Bellflower, Ca on March 29, 2007 12:15 pm

Day 1 for me. I am drinking my lemonade right now. I am pleasantly surprised that it does not taste that bad. I feel fine so far. Seems like day 2 is when everyone notices the effects. I do have two questions if someone could please respond. I read that the sea salt ‘bath’ consists of 2 level teaspoons of salt and 1 quart of lukewarm water. Is that right? Also, is there a brand of tea sold at the market that I can use as a laxative tea? I don’t have time to go to GNC or anything like that.

  22. mana on March 29, 2007 12:21 pm

I’m having to start again today. I didn’t have much hunger pang at all. The headaches were awful but I was able to bare it. However, I had problems with nausea. I vomitted everytime I drank lemonade, water or salt water.
Any suggestions as to what to do about that?

  23. Jill on March 29, 2007 1:07 pm

It is 2pm on day one. I am extremely irritable and decided to lay down after only being awake for 3 hours. I feel asleep hard! I feel very happy to not have to go to work, but then again, maybe being at work would keep my mind off of the food. I am not hungry yet, just bored. I will have to sit and write out some goals for my new business and my life and really try to tap into the spiritual side that comes from cleansing.

For Shiniqua, I wrote earlier that 2 teaspoons in a quart of warm water did the trick for me–in the bathroom 6 times within one hour of drinking it.

I really like what one woman wrote earlier about the importance of the salt water. When I did this cleanse the first time I think we did it with a tablespoon salt in a quart of water and nearly gagged. 2 tsps. has the same effect and easier follow through.

    Take care everyone

  24. michelle on March 29, 2007 1:20 pm

I am late joining, but I bought everything I need for it and will start in the morning because I work tonight, I want to start this evening, but I don’t know if I should or not.
I am going to make everything up and have it ready for tomorrow. Do you drink the salt water and tea in the morning and evening or is it one or the other? That’s the only thing I am confused about.

  25. Kelley on March 29, 2007 2:02 pm

Can someone tell me the right salt water flush recipe, is it 1 tsp per 16oz or one Tablespoon? thanks

  26. Lisa on March 29, 2007 2:04 pm

Hey, I asked this earlier and hope someone will answer… How important is it to drink the salt mixture in the morning or evening before bed. Can it be had at anytime during the day? Also, will black strap molasses work in lieu of the maple syrup? Any comments would be wonderful.
Feeling great and have no desire to eat surprisingly. Only day 2 but know I can make it another 8 days!

  27. Elvis Sheehan on March 29, 2007 2:22 pm

Day Four for me (technically Day Six as I began last Saturday, but ate small meals Sat/Sun and ‘eased’ into it. Going strong, but wondering if I should discontinue the fast and switch to a semi-fast (lemonade for breakfast and lunch with a small dinner).

I am a laborer and have had limited hours this week; therefore starting the fast has been easy. However I NEED my muscles to respond well come Monday (next week is looking rough); and I need to be able to stand 20+ hours on Saturday (I’m setting up a concert; load in is at 8 am and load out is Midnight - we’re hosting a 7 hour, non-stop jam marathon featuring Cosmic Railroad).

I’m on Day Four and wonder if I should continue until Day Ten or switch to a semi-fast. I’m only down a few pounds and regularly sweat out toxins (and I consume plenty of water daily). My goal is to drop weight - I’m a weight lifter who’s metabolism is supporting tremendous muscle growth but isn’t dropping the pounds of fat that I need it to - which is why I started the fast in the first place (to give my future diet a kick).

My question is should I switch to a semi-fast (I can do a full ten days next winter or whenever I move on from laboring) to re-gain the much-needed strength or continue on. Also, I need to know how to kick my metabolism back into high gear as soon as I’m off of this fast (I can feel it slowing down it would seem).

I’m not hungry - but I am concerned about being able to lift heavy objects all day (staying away from work isn’t an option) and having the strength to continue all day. My job is a bit like weight lifting and running for 8+ hours per day to give you an idea…

  28. Michelle on March 29, 2007 2:32 pm

    Hi Raylen,
I came across your journel as i was searching for others on the same path. On April 1 st i am going through my 1st Master cleanse. After a month of research and prep i am ready. I support you wholeheartedley and hope i have a good start as you have! I will be keeping a journal and posting it to my new myspace page. this, i believe will give me accountability! Good luck to you!!!

  29. Tina on March 29, 2007 3:20 pm

Every one is talking aboaut the sea salt…my first experience was not bad at all, it worked right away, but the second day my stomach cramped up so bad, i was in such pain that i was scared into not taking it again. anyone know why that happended and is it likely to happen again, besides it is the most horrible substance that i think i have ever tasted…

  30. Elvis Sheehan on March 29, 2007 4:09 pm

Tina - try using luke warm water with the sea salt. It does taste bad, but with luke warm water its easier to deal with. Normally everyone says to use 32 oz of water; I just used an old Gaterade container of 24 oz size it was able to down the salt water with ease - I just followed up with more water to make up for the last few ounces… (Oh and make sure you’re only using 2 tea spoons of un-iodized sea salts.)

Another suggestion is to stick to the laxative teas if you cannot tolerate the sea salts (and let’s face it, some people cannot and this is apparently normal).

I was debating to discontinue the cleanse as of this weekend, but I’m on Day Four (Six if you count the ‘ease’ in period of last Sat/Sun), but I believe I’ll stick with it… I however will also pick up taking my GNC supplements as my metabolism has slowed down and my strength is just about shot (I’m a mason’s laborer and I literally run with weights in my hands all day long - the muscle fatigue is what’s not helping me at all).

I wish the moderator would come by and answer my concerns in this and the other blogs…

  31. CLAUDIA A. on March 29, 2007 5:08 pm

Hi everybody! I’v been reading everyone’s comments-you guys are doing great and at the same time I am getting more mental strength from all the comments. This is my second day and I feel really hungry right now! My stomach is growling a lot, but when that happens I just drink more water and lemonade. I just tell myself that in 10 days I’ll be looking great! So far, in the last 3 months, while on this diet, I’ve lost 22 lbs! But, I was eating and doing the lemonade diet. This time around, is actually the very first time that I will do the 10 days without eating. So, I wish everybody good luck and please keep us updated with everything because it does help all of us. Also to JANET-take some deep breaths throughout the day for the stress and don’t give up on this diet! To JENNY-thank you for the input, your info is helpful! To RAYLEN-thanks for starting this diet with us..God bless everybody.

  32. Jill on March 29, 2007 5:32 pm

Has anyone on day one had a HA yet? I had to go lay down, again. So glad to be detoxing!!
Herbal blueberry mixed with raspberry zinger tea is fabulous with the concoction.

    Hello Everyone,

I just finished day 4 and I almost ate something, but I waited 5 minutes and during that time I convinced myself not to! But can I tell you how incredibly hungry I am. Not sure why this is I have been drinking lots of water and the Lemonade as well…..oh well I am sure tomorrow will be better…..is anyone else hungry?

  34. Maribel De La Torre on March 29, 2007 9:06 pm

I’m excited about this, I hadn’t checked my email untill today! I really need this support because @ home I don’t get it! I just started it today!

  35. SA on March 30, 2007 6:35 am

    Raylen,
I just returned from a 2 week trip to Wash. DC, therefore, I have nothing at home to eat (good news) but need to go buy my lemonade stuff…I will begin tomorrow which is Saturday with you all….how long are you going to stay on the cleanse? Have you heard how long others will stay on? I have at least 40 lbs. to lose..I might want to stay on 20 days..not sure. I did this in Nov. for 11 days and lost 18lbs..I have still kept most of it off. Shawnee

  36. michelle L on March 30, 2007 7:56 am

I am starting to do my day 3, but I can’t drink this salt water. I keep feeling so weird after the sips I take. I don’t know if I should continue anyone else felt strange symptoms while drinking it? I am really trying.

  37. michelle L on March 30, 2007 7:57 am

    Actually it’s my Day 1 …oops.

  38. Kim W on March 30, 2007 8:05 am

I’m also on day 3 and tried to drink the sea salt and could not drink it. I will just use the laxative tea. I really feel a little dizzy after trying to drink about 20oz of it.

  39. Joyce on March 30, 2007 8:30 am

Hello…….. Day 3 and doing GREAT!! Honey don’t sip the salt water……I hope you are sure it is sea salt?? Just dink in room temp and drink it down fast and get it over with. Your system needs it and it is a big key to success. It will get easier!! Lots of energy and feeling great today!! Keep going you can do it!!

  40. Mauri on March 30, 2007 1:36 pm

Amen! I had a really hard time with the salt water flush the first time I did the cleanse.
But I kept reading about the benefits of it and also a tip on how to make it easier to get down.
People suggested having a half a lemon at hand and licking it every time I came up for a breath as I drank the ‘magic potion’. It works!!!! Drank it seven out of the ten mornings and felt much better for it. It helped to keep reminding myself of the benefits as I drank it, too.
You all keep up the good work. DON’T QUIT!!!

  41. Joy on March 31, 2007 6:00 am

This is day three for me and I have been using the laxative tea. What exactly is the sea salt for. I have beenon the lemonade cleanse before and had great results. I could not stomach the sea salt water and want to know am I really missing out if I don’t take it? I just cannot stomach it.

  42. michelle L on March 31, 2007 8:59 am

    Day 2
I finally was able to drink half of the Sea SAlt down this morning. I didn’t have the same reaction like I did yesterday.
So far I am feeling okay, I don’t hardly think about food, but when I do I think of a huge 13+ layer salad with ranch dressing, I don’t want to tempt anyone, but I rather talk about it then to break my cleansing. I feel really good this morning and I hope I feel like this for the rest of the days. So far no headaches ..whooohooo! :-) I like reading your journey through this..It keeps me motivating. Keep it up–stay strong.

  45. Rachel on November 9, 2008 5:42 pm

I’m on day 2…I feel pretty bad. Just a horrible headache, probably from no caffeine. I am also extremely constipated. I did the salt water flush last night. It worked pretty quickly but I only went twice. It was pretty much all liquid. Then it seemed to stop working. This morning I woke up with real pain/heaviness in my abdomen, seriously constipated. Just wondering if this is normal?
