Master Cleanse Journal - Day 4
2:43pm Sorry I’m a little late posting this day 4 update. I was out of the house all day, and didn’t have access to a computer.
I planned on sleeping in today but still found myself waking up at 5:45am. I can’t complain because I do like waking up early.
I do notice some soreness in my legs from the treadmill session last night, but it’s nothing that’s going to bother me too much. The hunger is still there. It’s not as bad as yesterday, but I was tested today when I walked past a pretzel stand. Anyway I’m still holding strong, and I feel great.
I’ll be back with another updated before the end of the day - Raylen

10:45pm
Coming to the end of Day 4 my body is starting to adjust to the cleanse. My hunger cravings have let up substantially since days 2 & 3, and I can be around food without the irresistible urge to eat.
I’m also noticing that my sinus passages are also opening up which is another sign the Master Cleanse is working. I remember the first time I did the Master Cleanse I passed a lot of internal mucus which came out like soft rubber. You could definitely tell it had been inside my body for a long time because it help the shape of my intestines. So if you’re not seeing any solid waste come out during your eliminations just stick with it because it will come.
Rainn Wilson from The Office is hosting Saturday Night Live tonight so I’m going to relax and watch that. I’ll be back tomorrow for Day 5. - Raylen

9:45 am
This has been my most difficult morning so far. I woke up at 5:30am and my headache from last night was gone, but it was replaced with a strong craving for some food. I’ve been drinking a lot of water, and lemonade this morning and that has helped get my hunger under control.
I’ve also been working all morning which really is the big secret to keep yourself from thinking about food. If you can immerse yourself in another activity you will forget about being hungry, or at least put it in the back of your mind.
On the positive side I’ve lost 4 pounds, and I have a general feeling lightness and energy
I’ll be back a little latter with another update. Keep up the good work!

4:30
It’s Friday Yeahhh! I’m actually kind of debating whether or not I should put in a half day tomorrow, but I’ll worry about that when the time comes. As for today my hunger let off from this morning, it’s still looming but it’s nothing I can’t live with.
I’m upping the salt water flush to two a day starting today because I’m not happy with my current eliminations. As I’m sure you all know by now these laxatives (salt water & tea) are very potent, so I’ll also be drinking an additional 40-60 ounces of water to make up for the fluids I lose from taking this additional does of salt water.
There’s some good comments about using lemon to help make the salt water more bearable which is a good idea if you have trouble taking the salt water.
Throughout the day I’ve been doing some light stretching which I find helps reduce soreness. I’m also going to head to the gym after I’m finished typing this to do some light cardio and sit in the sauna.
The Master Cleanse will put your body into rapid detox mode, and most of this waste comes out when we go to the bathroom. A sauna is a good way to take the load off your body by sweating out some of those impurities. Just don’t stay in their too long. 10-15 minutes will do the trick.
I went through 60 ounces of lemonade already today. I going to mix up another batch with apple herbal tea which should be tasty.
Other then that I do feel a little colder then usual so I’ve been drinking hot water all day which helped take care of that.
The weather here dreary so I think I’m going to stay in and make it a Blockbuster night.
I’ll be back later with another update.
1/2 way through Day 3! - Raylen

11:30 pm
It looks like Day 3 is coming to a close, and so far everything is going as planned. My trip to the gym earlier today went well. I did some light cardio on the treadmill and 3 sets of sit ups. I was a bit more fatigued then I would be on my normal diet but that’s to be expected.
Overall I’ve been sleeping about 2 hours less a night while on the cleanse which is really nice because I’m getting a lot done by waking up early.
I took 2 doses of salt water today in addition to the laxative tea, and that really got things moving. I’m starting to see more solid waste come out during my eliminations. I don’t know how you all feel about this, but when I see that waste come out of me it really motivates me to keep on with the cleanse.
Before I call it a night I just want to say awesome job to everyone who’s joined in on this group Master Cleanse, and a big thanks for posting all these wonderful comments. Reading through them has really made my day. Thank you.

Master Cleanse Journal - Day 2
5:21am: It’s Day 2 of the Spring Master Cleanse, and I woke up a little earlier then usual so I thought I would make a quick post.
So far everything is going great. I feel energetic, and while my stomach was growling this morning I can’t say that the hunger has got to me yet.
I haven’t had any eliminations this morning, but I just finished a cup of laxative tea 5 minutes ago so I’m sure that it will happen shortly.
I don’t expect today to be as easy as yesterday. In my experience the 2nd and 3rd days are the most difficult. The good news is once you get past those your body starts to adapt to the cleanse and your hunger begins to subside.
One more thing before I go. I tried to post some videos in the Day 1 journal entry, but they don’t seem to be working. I have them posted on my main site and they all seem to play fine. If you get bored, or need some motivation these videos are worth watching. Here’s the link http://mastercleansesecrets.com/videos/diary.php
I’ll be back this afternoon with another update. Keep up the good work! - Raylen
————————————————————–
4:45pm I’m just wrapping up work for the day, and I still feel good. I’m defiantly starting to feel the effects of the Master Cleanse, but it hasn’t gotten to the point of discomfort. I’ve been popping in and reading all the comments on this blog and it’s really helped keep me motivated.
I’ve already went through my 60 ounce pitcher of lemonade, and it’s not even 5:00 so I’m going to have to whip up another batch to get me through the day. But, you got to do what you got to do and between the water, lemonade, tea, and salt water it really does do a good job of controlling hunger.
My elimination this afternoon was mostly liquid with some chaff like substance. (I know this is gross, but hey we’re all going to experience this so no point in being shy) . I like to do some gentle abdominal exercises throughout the day to help loosen up the waste and internal plaque in my stomach and intestines.
I did get a dinner invite from a friend today to go out for Pho, which is this amazing Vietnamese noodle dish. I declined, but it’s important to know that these little temptations are going to pop up a lot over the next 10 days. It’s really going to test your will power but it’s important stick to your goal and focus on the end result.
I’m off to make another pitcher of lemonade. I’ll make another entry later on tonight, and I’ll also be answering some more questions on the Master Cleanse Question Page
Half way through Day 2 and still going strong, Raylen

1.02am
Sorry I’m a little late posting the final update for the night, I’ve been working some bugs out of this site.
Anyway, so far Day 2 went well. It’s 1:00 in the morning right now, and I’m defiantly feeling the affects of not having eaten in 2 days. I used to get really bad migraine headaches as a kid and whenever I go on the Master Cleanse the first side effect I notice is a headache. What I’m feeling now is nowhere near as bad as a migraine, it’s more like a slight pressure on my entire head. I’ve been up since 5:00am so I’m sure being up this late also has something to do with it.
I’m also feeling more energetic. It’s difficult to describe but it’s like my body is pulsing with more energy then usual - I feel lighter and more alert.
I drank the salt water flush about 2 hours ago, and it went to work right away. The elimination was mostly liquid. I might take some psyllium husk tomorrow to help force some solid bowel movements. I buy psyllium husk in bulk and mix it with water, but you can also use psyllium husk capsules if you want.
I’ll be updating the question and answer page before I call it a night. You can find that at Master Cleanse Questions
Before I finish up on this Day 2 entry I just want to congratulate all of you who made it this far. I know it might seem difficult, but don’t give up.
That’s all for Day 2, I’ll be right back here tomorrow for the start of Day 3 - Raylen

Answers to Master Cleanse Questions
Question - I speak with a lot of people during the day,can I chew gum or eat a breath mint while on the cleanse? Though I brush and floss and brush my tongue, my breath stinks on the cleanse. I don’t want to scare people away with bad breath.
Answer - I’ve actually found that the cleanse make my breath smell better, but if you’re going to chew gum I would go with sugar free gum
Question - oh yea’ question……i work from 8-4:30 how big of a problem is this going to be? anyone doing this & working outside they’re home?
Answer - It’s hard to say. If your job requires a lot of physical activity staying on the Master Cleanse is going to be challenging. I’m not saying it can’t be done, but you will feel more fatigued then usual.
With that said I think most of the people who do the Master Cleanse work outside the home, and you just have to pay attention to your body. I would never recommend you push yourself so far doing the Master Cleanse that your work performance suffers.
If you find it hard to work and do the Master Cleanse I would suggest planning the cleanse around the holidays when you have time off from work.
Question - HEY EVERYONE! SOMEBODY AT WORK JUST TOLD ME THAT I CAN EAT SOME ALMONDS WITH THIS DIET, IS THAT TRUE? ALSO, I WANTED TO ASK YOU RAYLEN IF YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS DIET THE WHOLE TEN DAYS WITHOUT EATING? PLEASE LET ME KNOW…IF THAT’S THE CASE, I THINK I CAN DO IT. JUST KNOWING THAT ALL THIS WONDERFUL PEOPLE ARE ALSO DOING THE DIET EXCITES ME AND MAKES ME WANT TO DO IT EVEN MORE! GOOD LUCK TO YOU RAYLEN AND EVERYONE ELSE!!!!:)
Answer - I would not eat almonds on the cleanse. Almonds are high in fat and will interfear with the cleansing process.
Question - I started the master cleanse yesterday. I’m not at all hungry but I’m having the worse headaches! Is this normal?
Answer - It’s good that you’re not hungry, but to answer your question yes, it’s normal to have headaches. I like to take a hot shower, or go to bed early if possible. That seems to help.
Question - Do you prefer to do the salt water cleanse in the evenings when you get home?
Answer - For me the evening works best for the salt water flush.
Question - Can you use limes one day and lemoms the next or do you have to stick to lemons once you have begun with them.
Answer - Yes limes will work fine with the Master Cleanse.
Question - I wanted to start it but I was wondering about how safe it is for people with Diabetes and high blood pressure.
Answer - The Master Cleanse can help relieve many health conditions, but it’s always best to check with your doctor if you’re concerned about a preexisting health problem. For Diabetes I would substitute the maple syrup with molasses.
Question - Is it ok to work out during the cleanse?
Answer - It’s okay to work out just don’t push yourself too hard. I would avoid weight training, but some light cardio is fine.
————————————————–
Question - What kind of flavoring do you add to the drink? It does get tiring after while, drinking the same thing daily. Please help!!!
Answer - I use herbal teas. You can find them in many different fruit flavors.
Question - I am in Minnesota and not sure where I find the teas? Also is there a liquid form to the cayenne pepper? I tried doing the cleansing once and didn’t make it because no matter what little amt of the pepper I put in it was too hot for me. One more question? When you say you mix in herbal tea to add variety do you make the tea and add the other ingredients to it? Silly questions I know but I really want this to work for me but get confused.
Thanks
Answer - You can find the laxative teas at most grocery stores sold under the name “laxative tea” or “smooth move”. I know they make liquid cayenne pepper, but I haven’t seen it sold anywhere I shop. I brew the tea and lemonade separate then mix them after the tea has steeped.
Question - A question: I’m on medication for high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and hormone replacement therapy. Would I have to quit taking these if I start the cleanse?
Answer - I never suggest anyone stop taking prescription drugs. With so many different types of medication it’s hard to say how it will affect the cleanse, but if a doctor prescribed it I think it’s best to not stop using it.
Question - I would like to know how to start the cleansing like what to do for the pre-cleansing procedure. I would also like to know if i can use herbal laxative tea instead of the sea salt and is maple syrup grade A can be used as a substitute for grade B?
Answer - For pre-cleansing you can go on a Raw food diet, or do colon cleansing. I try to use both salt water and laxative tea, but if you can’t get the salt water down it’s fine to use the laxative exclusively. Grade A maple syrup won’t work nearly as well for the master cleanse. It goes through a different refinement process and doesn’t provide the same nutritional value as grade B maple syrup.

Master Cleanse Journal - Day 1

Here we are at Day 1 of the Master Cleanse…
Welcome to everyone who decided to join in on this Spring Master Cleanse.
So far there’s not much to report on my end. I woke up this morning and went for a walk then did some light stretching. I haven’t had any lemonade yet, but I’m drinking some laxative tea as I’m typing this. I’ll also be using the salt water laxative but I don’t like to drink the salt water early in the morning because my stomach takes a few hours to settle.
I feel great otherwise and I think today will go smoothly. I’ll be adding to this page throughout the day to keep everyone updated.
I’d also like to here how everyone else is doing so feel free to leave a comment.

————————————————————————————
It’s 3:57 pm here, and I’m just finishing up work for the day. So far I havn’t been the least bit hungry, but then again its only been a few hours without food. While we’re on the topic of hunger I want to talk about what all of us are going to be going through over the next few days on the Master Cleanse.
You’re almost certainly going to get hungry. For some of you the hunger might already be kicking in. What you feel in these early stages of the Master Cleanse is not necessarily your body telling you it needs nutrition. It’s just that you’re so used to eating throughout the day that it’s become a habit, and like any habit there’s going to be some slight withdrawal symptoms when you stop doing it.
The best thing you can do is occupy yourself. I’ve made a list of things that I’ll be doing over the next 10 days that won’t leave me any time to think about food. I’ve actually put things off for the last week so I would have something to do during this cleanse. Thing’s like filing my income tax Spring cleaning (I can’t believe how much junk piles up over the year).
So when hunger starts to bubble up remember to stay strong. Most people don’t realize that if you follow the Master Cleanse recipe you’re actually taking in around 1,000 calories. I know this is a big cut from most people’s normal calorie intake, but it’s not as though you’re starving yourself.
I’ve been searching the net for some motivational content to help us get through the cleanse, and I found something I think you’re all going to enjoy. It’s a series of short videos made by someone who finished the 10 day Master Cleanse. None of them are longer then 5 minutes and he does a terrific job of capturing some of the highs and lows of doing the Master Cleanse. When you click the play button it might take some time for the video to load.
Those videos are all posted below. If you have trouble viewing the videos I’ve also posted them all on my main site at http://mastercleansesecrets.com/videos/diary.php
I’m really proud of everyone who jumped on board with this Master Cleanse. I know it was kind of short notice, but it’s been a real joy to come to this blog and read all the positive comments. I’ll be making one more entry to this Day 1 post before I go to bed, and I’ll be setting up a separate page to answer all the questions that have been coming in.
Half way through Day 1 and I’m feeling great,
Raylen

It’s 11:27pm and I’m getting ready to call it a night. If feel great. I’m not hungry, and don’t feel any side effects.
I did the salt water flush about an hour ago, and it went to work right away. The first elimination was almost all liquid which is normal.
The question and answer page is up, and I’l be updating that everyday until we’re all done with the cleanse. Here’s the link to that page Answers to Master Cleanse Questions
That’s all for Day 1, I’ll be back tomorrow for Day 2

Master Cleanse Videos
Introduction
Mar
27
Today is the day before the Master Cleanse starts.
I have to admit I’ve never been this excited about going on the Master Cleanse, and reading through everyones responses to doing the Master Cleanse together has got me itching to get started.
I’ve already rounded up the things I’ll need for the Master Cleanse.
Here’s what I’ll be using:
- Organic lemons
- Grade B maple syrup
- Cayenne pepper powder
- Filtered Water (I have a home water filter)
- Uniodized sea salt
- Laxative Tea (I use a brand called Yogi Tea “Get Regular”)
- Flavored Herbal Tea *No Caffeine* (I’ll mix these in with the lemonade for variety)
You can find the steps for preparing the lemonade, and the other steps for finishing the Master Cleanse at Master Cleanse Recipe
Next I want to go over something that gets overlooked by a lot of people who go on the Master Cleanse…
Getting Clear About Your Goals For Doing The Master Cleanse
I always suggest that before you start the Master Cleanse you should write out what you want to accomplish by doing the cleanse.
Even though the cleanse is typically done for only 10 days it’s common for people to give up after the first day. Having clear goals will help motivate you to finish the Master Cleanse. Here’s my goals for doing the Master Cleanse.
My main goal is to share the Master Cleanse with all my newsletter subscribers. Motivation is important for achieving anything in life. Hopefully by publishing this Master Cleanse Journal online, and sharing in the experience I can help motivate others to join me on the Master Cleanse.
I’m also doing the Master Cleanse because I’ve been feeling a little lathargic latly. Winter really bummed me out this year. I’m sleeping more then usual and don’t feel as energetic as I should. I know from past experience that doing the Master Cleanse can help recharge my batteries.
That’s why I’m doing the Master Cleanse now, what are your goals?
If you choose to write out your goals it’s important that you don’t censor yourself. Remember these are YOUR goals.
So if you’re doing the Master Cleanse because you want to look good and attract a lover - That’s fine
Maybe you want to get in shape to show an X lover what they lost - That’s also fine
The Master Cleanse can be used as part of spiritual fast
You can go on the Master Cleanse to instill in yourself a self discipline that you can use in other areas of your life
Of course there’s many health benefits for doing the Master Cleanse as well. What’s important is that you have a strong goal to help motivate you through the cleanse.
Dealing With Hunger
As you can see from the list of ingredients used for the Master Cleanse it’s a restrictive diet, and at some point during the cleanse you’ll certainly get hungry. I know how hard it can be deal with hunger when you’re doing the Master Cleanse, and the only thing I can say is it’s part of the process. By drinking the lemonade, laxatives, and water your body will begin to purge itself of the waste that’s built up over the years. 10 days on the Master Cleanse can undo a lot of the damaged caused by years of unhealthy habits.
With that said I do have some advice to help keep your hunger at bay.
- Before you rush to grab something to eat take 5 minutes and ask yourself if you really want to stop the Master Cleanse
- When you get hungry drink a BIG glass of water
- Go over your list of goals
- Go for a walk, or do some other activity to keep your mind off food
- Watch a movie, read, play video games (I left out watching TV because food commercials might only make your hunger worse)
It also helps to clear any easy to get at food like frozen pizza, chips, and other snacks from your home when you do the Master Cleanse.
As for me, right now it’s 8:30 pm, and I’ve just finished my last meal before starting the cleanse. I had a chicken breast with green beans and wild rice. I’m feeling good, I’m excited, and I can’t wait for tomorrow.
I’ll be posting to this site daily for the next 13 days (10 days on the cleanse and 3 days going back to normal eating). With each new day I’ll be adding another entry to the home page of this site Master Cleanse Journal.
I’m thrilled that so many people have decided to join in and do the Master Cleanse together. If there’s any questions, or anything I can do to help, you can leave a comment and I’ll try my best to help you out any way I can.
Talk soon,
Raylen
