The Master Cleanse Journal Is Live
Mar 27th, 2007 by Raylen
Alright the night before the big day! I’ve got the website for the Master Cleanse journal up, and everything seems to be working.
For now I’ve made the first entry The Day Before The Cleanse.
I’ll be updating the main page of the site with each new day on the Master Cleanse, the link to the home page is Master Clenase Journal.
For the next couple days I’ll be posting to the Master Cleanse Journal site daily, but I’m signing off for now.
Day 1 on the Master Clenase starts tomorrow, it’s going to be a blast!

I’ve tried the master-cleanse and it works wonderful for me.I was going to stay on it for 10 days but I had to quit on the 7th day. I developed shingles and the doctor said my nerves or something triggered the outbreak. shingles is a form of chicken-pox that lies dormant in your system until something triggers it. My question is”Is it possible that by using the master-cleanse and getting all the impurities out of my system it could have been the trigger”? I love the master-cleanse. It did clear my acne and made me feel better and I lost 8lbs in 7 days. I will try again.
Thanks Barb
I’m on Day Three of The Master Cleanse! Technically it’s Day Five, as I started ‘easing’ in on March 24th (last Friday).
I’m feeling the hunger pangs fade away, but am starting to feel fatigued - I even made the mistake of trying to lift weights (I stopped my strict work out regimen for this fast but wanted to give it a try anyways today). Needless to say I cut the work out short to avoid damaging muscles.
I’m still debating to go the full 10 days or not. Initially I was considering only fasting until Thursday, and then easing into food again on Friday/Saturday/Sunday… But now that I’m this far I believe that I may hold out for the whole 10 days.
My biggest concern is that I labor for a living and beginning Monday I have a rough summer ahead of me. I may stop the fast this weekend and practice the mini-diet described in your book (that I purchased tonight as a matter of fact).
I figured if I fasted two days a week or replaced at least one meal per day with the lemonade, I’d be fine. Besides, I SWEAT all day long at work (I’m a mason’s laborer, need I explain how much work I do daily?) and then also come home and work out!
Your book mentions that after 3 or 4 days your colon is basically cleaned out; if so, then why continue to fast any longer? I’d imagine it’s due to the toxins your body is cleaning up??? Any recomendations for me? I really must have strength (and lots of it) for my job and workout regimen….
PS As for my workouts, I use L-Arginine which is produced under the name NO2. Your body converts NO2 into Nitric Oxide which is a hemodilator (basically it is the most natural way to increase your ‘pumps’ and blood flow which helps your body recover faster and rebuild muscle tissue).
I take those twice a day and also buy the GNC brand of protein (whey - 60 grams per serving / two servings a day).
Another question I have is in regards to those products. Can I take either of them during this fast?
The NO2 has nothing in it but the L-Arginine and the protien is loaded with amino acids and all the good stuff your body needs to recover from serious workouts and long days laboring.
I would imagine that the NO2 would be a GOOD thing to take during the detox (since it could take up to two weeks to build up in my system again). However I’m sure the calories and amino acids in the protien shake could be a problem - what do you think?
I’ve staged away from the for now - and if you recomend me staying away until the fast is completed - how long should I wait after the fast before I can consume said products normally?
I’m feeling fatigued on Day Three (Day Five if you include the two days easing into the fast) and would like more protien. I’ve yet to purchase the wheat grass - I shall do so tomorrow morning.
Oh and I failed to mention that I’m about 6 foot tall and 268 pounds (I’m down 7 pounds at this point and was hoping for more of a loss). I don’t look 268 pounds - most of it is muscle and I’m looking to cleanse on this diet more than anything in hopes that later on I can drop weight by being healthier and sweating away the fat this summer. However being a larger guy, I want to ensure that I maintain the muscles that I have.
I started out taking only one glass (10 oz) of lemonade a day and move to about 60 oz as of today. I do not feel hungry, but I am notably tired, slightly head-achy, and definately fatigued. . . Overall I feel cleansed already, but like I said, I’d love to take more protien or add the NO2 to my fast (since it really has nothing that is considered a toxin in it).
Just some concerns! Thanks for your time.

Well it’s morning. I’m going to do the salt water flush one more time this morning and that’s that. I’ll break the fast this evening with some orange juice and perhaps some soup. I definately need some soup tomorrow and something solid on Saturday (Saturday I have to load in for a concert by 8 am and load out at Midnight - in between I have to run the stage/sound/security and must be on my toes all of that time).
I have to work this afternoon and perhaps a few hours tomorrow too; but by next week, I need to be close to 100% in regards to my strength. I’m not loosing any more weight - I’ve dropped maybe 5 to 7 pounds but I look and feel much slimmer for some reason. I’ve learned to eat better and to control the cravings which will help me this summer. Once that sun hits and I’m working outside, the fat will melt off in about 30 days.
I’ll still check in here. My new plan will be to ensure I eat a high fiber cereal in the morning before work (if not, I have a meal replacement protein shake from GNC that has a small amount of creatine in it), do the lemonade for lunch and possibly fresh fruit as needed, and then a normal dinner. I will also fast at least 2 weekends per month (Friday through Sunday), if not every weekend.
Obviously I sweat quite a bit at work and am wondering if I’m going to detox any more. I also need the muscle strength back ASAP for this weekend and technically my goal was to break the fast before Saturday (only after I started did I consider the entire 10 days) so I’d have the energy to work that concert. I’m proud that I made it 3 days w/o eating; and 5 days with on the cleansing program.
If I didn’t have to labor, I would go 10 days not a problem and I’m certain that next winter I shall have 10 days to do just that. I feel that using the lemonade for lunch everyday and fasting over the weekends will suffice until then and bring me to a whole new level of healthiness - honestly I’m not hungry and wasn’t yesterday, but I am too weak to work and that’s something that I have to worry about…
I believe the first thing that I will try is the flush this morning, then some tea and with that tea I will take the NO2 (Nitric Oxide) from GNC. If the NO2 gives me the energy that I need, and the protein shake helps my muscles too, perhaps I’ll continue the fast using only those two products on top of the diet recomended by you - w/o the wheat grass (my protein shake contains 60 grams of protein and works nicely).
I guess I’m back to my question about using NO2 and GNC brand protein while on this fast. Should I stick with the fast if the NO2 and protein shake give my muscles the fuel they need or should I switch to the semi-fasting as I described above (so that I have energy at least by Monday)?
As a body builder its tough to take a week off of lifting weights - however I’m on a 12 week cycle and this was my off week (I could take one more week off, but would rather not at this point).
Well…I had 16 ounces of water with 4 tsp of sea salt, and I only drank 2 ounces of the mixture and I’m already crying and very thirsty!
I know I did the wrong recipe so I will make it over and try a new batch if my stomach can handle it.
I’m soooooooooooooooo, thirsty for juice or pop,and the sea salt water smells like fish!!!
Hello all I am on my 3rd day of the MC and I feel great!!!

Oh my goodness, I just read Barbara’s comments from March 28. I finished the my first cleanse and also developed shingles. My doctor asked if I was stressed out. I said no. Could the cleanse be the cause of this. Anyway, I am trying it again for the second time, (today is my first day) I will be checking this blog daily to help keep me insprired at work. I’m fine at home, because I don’t by food to tempt me, but at work is a whole different thing.
I started the master cleanse today after hearing about it from a friend. But I wasn’t able to find the book anywhere in NYC!! All the stores have ran out of it..and they’re all out of print as well!!
Hope your cleanse is going good so far!
I started mt cleanse yesterday 4/15/07. I was sluggish the 1st day, sleepy and tired even. Somewhat cranky cause I still have to prepare foods for my kids so the desire to eat was bothering me. But today I woke up after going to the bathroom and I feel much better. Eager to find out how my control I have over my cravings.
3rd day of the cleanse. Feeling wonderful. Surprises me to know you can feel this way w/o eating in 3 days.
Raylen,
Your site is helpful, although I find it diconcerting when I read postings on a site that have not been edited for typos, spelling mistakes and the like. It makes me not want to buy your book. I am myself working on doing things with a watch over the details. Being a professional myself, I just had to comment, as each e-mail that you have sent me has contained errors.
How do you know when your body is done with the cleanse. Are there any signs that say you should stop before the ten day mark? White tongue, or pure water when you use the bathroom?
I’m on the second day of the 3 day pre clease. I’ll start the total cleanse on Thursday. I tried this one time before with no info except for the lemonade mixture and only made it until 2pm in the afternoon. Now I’m taking all the suggested extras-the wheatgrass tablets, hoodia, and smooth move tea. It must make a big difference because I’m not really hungry. My stomach growls but then I just drink some liquid. I’m not cranky. I had a really tough day yesterday-lost my appointment book and my cell phone broke which are really important to me since I have my own business. I handled it better than I usually do. I feel really healthy and my mind feels very clear.
I’m looking forward to keeping up with this journal. I have about 5 people who may want to do it too so that is great too.
I do have some concern about 2 people getting shingles. Do you know if it may be related to the Cleanse?
