Starting The Spring Master Cleanse This Wednesday

by Raylen on March 25, 2007

I hope you all had a great weekend. It’s Sunday night here, and I thought I would make a quick post about the Spring Master Cleanse I mentioned in my previous posts.

I decided to start the cleanse this Wednesday, and stay on for 10 days. I’ll be making daily entries to this blog during the entire 10 days, and the 3 days following the cleanse as I transition back to my normal diet.

I don’t have any specific reason for choosing Wednesday. Like most of you I have a busy workload, and lots of things to get done (including my taxes!) so no matter when I start the master cleanse it’s going to conflict with my day to day responsibilities. It would be nice to check into a resort for 10 days and sip my lemonade on a tropical beach somewhere, but that’s just not an option.

There’s never going to be perfect time to go on the master cleanse. If I wanted to I could write a mile long list of excuses as to why I should put off starting the cleanse this week. But at the end of day my health is the most important thing.

I intend to be very honest about what it’s like to go through the 10 day Master Cleanse. The good and the bad will all be shared right here. The Master Cleanse does test you. There’s going to be aches, you will get hungry, but none of that compares to the sheer delight of making through the whole 10 days. It feels AWESOME!

I hope some of you will join me, and we can all do the master cleanse together. I’m setting up a special section of this site just for this event so everyone can follow along and share their experience starting from day 1 all the way through day 10.

I’ll be posting more in the next day or two. Until then, have a happy and healthy day.

Raylen

Hi Raylen,

I actually started my spring cleansing today (Mon.3/26). I do the master cleanser every season and have been doing it for the past 7-10 years. I did 14 days this past Dec. (winter cleanse) and I am so excited about my spring cleansing…

Be blessed

Lisa March 26, 2007 at 10:32 am

Hi
My thoughts exactly that is why I started this yesterday again. Last Spring I went on it for the first time and was on it for 40 days I want to do that many at least this time also. I tell you it is so addicting for me the good feeling I feel and how happy and focused I am when I am not under the influence of food.

Have a great day,

Lisa

This is a good thing and I will be joining you on Wednesday. Thank you for being faithful with providing your news letter.

Hello Raylen:

I just finished up the Master Cleanse Program 4 days ago. I feel great, but the hardest part for me was coming back into eating regular food again. I will say that I was amazed at how much food I don’t even crave anymore since doing the diet. I lost 30lbs. I did it for 20 days. I am still losing weight and I have changed my diet for the better. I still have 40 more pounds to go. Good luck to everyone and the diet is simply, great and most importantly it really works.

Diane berger March 26, 2007 at 11:39 am

I was thinking the same thing. Knowing someone is doing the cleanse with you some how makes it seem eaier.I don’t know why, misery loves company!! But I too need to clean out the closet so to speak. I am with you.
Fondly,
Diane

Is it normal for your stomach to hurt while on the cleanse like have “Bubble Guts”? My stomach hurt so bad where I wanted to take pepto Bismol and didnt because I though it would ruin my cleanse. After a couple of days I had to take Pepto to feel better. I was so upset because I was doing so well…What should I do about this if there is anything to do?

Meghan March 26, 2007 at 11:45 am

Well I have been a bit nervous about starting, because I don’t want to fail…as everyone says it is so challenging and I have not been so faithfull on things (diets, cleanses, fasts) before so, But I am gonna give it a whirl. One question..how close do I need to be to a bathroom for the cleanse?? Don’t want to have a “most embarassing moment” at work…would it be better to start at night just so I can have an evening to let it go through the first time? Thanks, Meghan

i tried the master cleanse about six weeks ago and i was very unsatified with results i followed the directions and did as i was suppose to if you have any tips on any thing i can do to have better results i would very much like to hear them i am serious about this and my health

Anuradha Maitra March 26, 2007 at 11:58 am

I have long prided myself on steadfastly rejecting fads but realized lately that it was perhaps an excuse to not impose on myself a sorely needed discipline. Last Fall, when I first heard about the Master Cleanse, the timing was perfect- I was enticed by that aspect of the routine but also by its legion of enthusiastic supporters. I tried it and I was laughing all the way to my lemon trees. A great Fall shedding it was but the weight has all come back; it is indeed time for a Spring Cleaning. I will also start on Wednesday but would appreciate tips on how not to get all muddied (with glazed donuts and the like) soon after.

kkr March 26, 2007 at 11:59 am

Hi Raylen, What stores can I purchase the Master Cleanse Book from? I have had all the ingredients for 9 days for the Master Cleanse but for some reason keep hesitating and have yet to start. I dont know why I’m procrastinating. I look forward to following you. kkr

Toni March 26, 2007 at 12:28 pm

Raylen, thanks so much for putting this information out there. I just bought my lemons and was planning on starting tomorrow, perhaps I will do some journaling and begin on Wednesday too.

Peace.

Michelle March 26, 2007 at 12:56 pm

I will do the 10 day Master Cleanse with you. My body truly does need a spring cleaning. So, count me in!

Alessandra Ferrari March 26, 2007 at 1:08 pm

Dear Raylen
I am so glad to hear you say that there is no perfect time to start the master cleanser. I have never lasted more than three days on it because I cannot take ten days off from work and other responsabilities. I have always been afraid of being sick. I am going to join you and give it another try.

sherry March 26, 2007 at 1:12 pm

Hello Raylen,
You emailed us the master cleanse system awhile back, but I didn’t do it then. I would love to follow along with you on the spring master cleanse, how should I do this? Should I just follow along on this website, and I can get all the info just by following along or will you email me all the steps like you did before, I am really serious about it this time, I want good health, my system doesn’t absorb nutrients like it used to due to my gastric bypass surgery. I had the surgery 5 years ago and have gained back about 35lbs and I can’t stand this extra weight back on me.. Any special tips you would suggest for me or should I just follow the same plan as everyone else. I really appreciate all your help. thank you, Sherry

Margaret Wheeler March 26, 2007 at 1:35 pm

Hello Raylen,
WOW, I thought I would start mine on this Monday. However, it did not work out that way so count me in .

Julie March 26, 2007 at 1:40 pm

Hi Raylen,

I too will take advantage of this opportunity to join you as well on Wednesday. The very first time I did the cleanse for 10 days was February, 1989. I had the opportunity to do it with two other friends and I never felt better. I’ve done it many times since for shorter periods of time. I look forward to sharing this experience with you and the others who decide to join us. My 46 birthday is coming up April 21 and I look forward to looking and feeling healthier than ever!

Julie

Cassandra March 26, 2007 at 2:46 pm

Vicki Courtney March 26, 2007 at 4:50 pm

Raylen,

A very good friend of mine knew I had done, & am in the process of doing again, the Master Cleanser lemonade diet & sent me this letter. I have tried the lemonade cleansing diet several times in the past. I have made it one time to day 3, twice to day 4, once to day 6 & once the entire 10 days. No doubt, it is difficult to stay on course when all of our social interactions are based around food. I can tell you, however, that I know it works as far as cleansing & bettering your health. I had a high cholesterol of 228 (normal under 200), my liver enzymes were elevated – ALT was 88 (normal 40 or less). After the lemonade diet, I had my labs drawn again. My cholesterol was down to 179 & my ALT was down to 49. I felt really good, but it was the week of Thanksgiving – what can I say, (3) turkey dinners later, I knew I had “fallen off the wagon” so to speak. This time I’m planning to stick to the whole 10 days again. I want to feel better inside & also have it show a little on the outside as well. I’ve already started my lemonade diet 2 days ago, so I’m a little ahead of you. We’ll make it & rejoice together @ the end. Have a great night tonight & Tuesday tomorrow. Good luck with starting on diet on Wednesday. Hopefully, we’ll have lots of company!

On January 12th was the date I started my last master cleanse. Did the master cleanse for 14 days. There is 3 of us that would like to join you. Do you think it is too soon for me to do the cleanse now. I know i can handle it. What I am wondering if it would do harm to my body. I wonder if it will damage my organs. If you know please let me know. Thanks Lil

nadia March 26, 2007 at 7:33 pm

im ready!!

Suzy March 26, 2007 at 9:06 pm

I’ve been thinking about cleansing soon. My last cleanse was in early October, but sadly, I won’t be doing it with you. Instead I’ll wait just a little longer, after my cousin’s wedding, and start then. Anyone want to start towards the middle of April with me??

lily March 26, 2007 at 9:23 pm

Hi I looked in my journal and it has only been 2 mo. since I finished my last master cleanse which lasted for 14 days. Once again can I damage anything in my body? On a different site it warns of side effects and health problems. Have you ever consulted a Doctor about this master cleanse regarding any effects it could have on the body? Is waiting 2 mo. long enough .I really would like to join you in this adventure. Please get back to me as soon as possible.
Thanks Lil

I have diabetes, and would love to do this cleanse, but the person in the health food store said it is not for people with any type of blood disorder.

Kenny March 26, 2007 at 9:44 pm

I was planning to start the cleanse tomorrow (Tuesday) but I think I will wait and start with you and others. What perfect timing. It should be quite an experience.

Yvonne Blackwell March 26, 2007 at 10:07 pm

Thanks for the invite. I’ve been putting off the master cleanse now for a few months. I have never attempted the master cleanse, and am somewhat hesitant. But, I will join you on Wednesday.

Lauren Hammeal March 26, 2007 at 11:58 pm

I have been thinking about doing th eMC for 10 days… I bought all my supplies recently but I didn’t set the date….this sounds like a wonderful opportunity… I have always cleansed alone…..it would be so much more enjoyable with others,,,count me in!!!! L

Tharhirah March 27, 2007 at 6:19 am

Good morning Raylen,

I think this is the perfect time to start the cleansing. I did the master cleanse a couple of months back, and I only was able to stay on it for three days. After the third day I was suffering from migraine headaches. Can you recommend anything that would help the headaches. Other than that I did OK for the three days

kay cantera March 27, 2007 at 6:33 am

I got thru day 9 last October and then caved in after meeting an old boyfriend…I did discover two things about myself, one is that I have will power after all–I would prepare food for my family and not enven think of it as an option for me, and two, that I NEED FOOD. Yes, I dropped a few inches and I was in love with the way my face and skin looked, but my lack of energy and crankiness ruled supreme. Maybe I’ll start with you on Wednesday and end it on day 3.

Marie March 27, 2007 at 7:31 am

Hey Raylen:

Your email came just in time. I’ve been thinking about doing the cleanse for the last two weeks now. I did it last May and the results were amazing. I tried it in January but I think the winter weather really turned me off to nothing but liquid. So I will too commit starting Wednesday to this amazing fast. Good luck to all that is starting this.

Barbi March 27, 2007 at 8:45 am

I missed your e-mail so am going to start this cleanse on April 1 my daughter did it and swears by it so if it’s good for her it’s good for Mom.

Karen March 27, 2007 at 9:38 am

I would love to start the cleanse with everyone. I tried it once before but only lasted three days. Maybe this time I will be able to finish.

Martha Murphy March 27, 2007 at 10:03 am

Perfect timing! As part of my Lenten discipline this year, I decided to start the Master Cleanse on my own tomorrow (Wednesday) so that my 10th day would end on Good Friday, April 6. A friend who did the Master Cleanse last month told me that you were starting your Cleanse tomorrow, too, and suggested that I join your blog for extra support. I just got back from my local Whole Foods with all necessary ingredients and will start the Cleanse tonight with my first cup of Smooth Move tea. I look forward to sharing experiences with all of you for the next 10 days!
