Starting The Spring Master Cleanse This Wednesday

by Raylen on March 25, 2007

I hope you all had a great weekend. It’s Sunday night here, and I thought I would make a quick post about the Spring Master Cleanse I mentioned in my previous posts.

I decided to start the cleanse this Wednesday, and stay on for 10 days. I’ll be making daily entries to this blog during the entire 10 days, and the 3 days following the cleanse as I transition back to my normal diet.

I don’t have any specific reason for choosing Wednesday. Like most of you I have a busy workload, and lots of things to get done (including my taxes!) so no matter when I start the master cleanse it’s going to conflict with my day to day responsibilities. It would be nice to check into a resort for 10 days and sip my lemonade on a tropical beach somewhere, but that’s just not an option.

There’s never going to be perfect time to go on the master cleanse. If I wanted to I could write a mile long list of excuses as to why I should put off starting the cleanse this week. But at the end of day my health is the most important thing.

I intend to be very honest about what it’s like to go through the 10 day Master Cleanse. The good and the bad will all be shared right here. The Master Cleanse does test you. There’s going to be aches, you will get hungry, but none of that compares to the sheer delight of making through the whole 10 days. It feels AWESOME!

I hope some of you will join me, and we can all do the master cleanse together. I’m setting up a special section of this site just for this event so everyone can follow along and share their experience starting from day 1 all the way through day 10.

I’ll be posting more in the next day or two. Until then, have a happy and healthy day.

Raylen

Hello Raylen,

Your timing for this couldn’t be more perfect. I bought you book, and so far have used your advice for cleansing the body’s 4 systems, but I’ve been putting off doing the master cleanse.

Reading this posting made me realize that I’ve been making too many excuses for not starting the master cleanse. You’re right about there’s never going to be a perfect time to start so I’m really looking forward to joining you on the master cleanse.

Hi I would love to join you for the cleanse but I need to know what kind of water you would recommend besides filtered water because I stay on a college campus and don’t have access to my own personal sink

Jane Meakin March 26, 2007 at 12:23 am

I have been thinking of doing the cleanse again, and the extra support of others doing at the same time is great.. count me in!

What perfect timing. I’ve been trying to get back to the cleanse for two days. I managed 8 days in January and it felt great. It feels like time to do it again, but the past two days, I have mixed up the cleanse liquid, and taken it all day, but at night, I have fallen apart. I know since I did it once, I can do it again, so I will go ahead and commit to doing it with you starting on Wednesday as well. By the way, Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods (in California) both carry grade B maple syrup and organic lemons!

Hi Raylen,

I think this is probably a good time for me as well. I am going to have knee surgery at the end of April. It will help tremendously to cleanse my system as part of my preparation.

Keep me updated on your progress.

Happy I read your note today. i have ben thinking about starting this week, so I will join you.

Teresa March 26, 2007 at 1:56 am

Good luck I really wish I had the will power to do the cleanse maybe I will but I need lots and lots of mind power as I am at home on disability at the moment and have lots of time to think about food….

Mike March 26, 2007 at 2:04 am

I will try it again as well. I find myself snacking much too often and feel I need a good cleansing as well as droping a few pounds. The hardest part is being home near the refrigerator. If you started on Tuesday, that would mean the third day after the fast would land on Easter, and I know I will be at a relatives’ house that day where they will have a big spread of food. Hopefully my stomach will be shrunk by then so I won’t have to eat much….I need this support to make it through this time….Mike Beers

DANIELLE March 26, 2007 at 2:14 am

i WILL START THE 10 DAY MASTER CLEANSE WITH YOU. IM CLAIMING THAT IT WILL BE EASIER FOR ME THIS TIME

Mike March 26, 2007 at 3:06 am

Good Morning Raylen,

Your a mind reader, I have been writing that list of excuses and trying to find a reason not to go on the cleanse but now I have someone who I can compare notes with.

Have done the Master Cleanse once last summer , had great results felt fantastic, the only down side for myself was the light headedness.

Look forward to Wedensday.

Hello Raylen,
Perfect timing !!!!!!!!!!! My daughter and me really looking forward to joining you on the master cleanse.

lori March 26, 2007 at 3:19 am

The fast has been great for so far . I have lost 7lbs in 4 days. I current weight is 178lbs Im 5′2. When I started the fast I had a urinary tract infection. The first day on the fast it went away! That is whats keeping my motivated. I am looking forward to the next 6 days.

Barbie March 26, 2007 at 3:26 am

Last week after downing a whole bottle of wine and having a chinese takeaway, I decided that enough was enough and I had to start being healthy again. I decided to start today (Monday) and it was a joy to open my email and find that you too were thinking of cleansing this week. I may have started early but I hope to keep in touch with how you are doing with the cleanse. Good luck to everyone joining you.

Dee March 26, 2007 at 3:35 am

I too want to do the fast also. I have been continplating it myself, I start, get weak & eat, forget it but I must have the strength sometime. Wednesday is too far away..I had already decided last night to start TODAY! I am about to go squeeze lemons now. Either way, I will meet you on the raod to a cleanier & healthier US! The xceses have stopped. As busy as I am, I am sure that I will have other things on my mind. I just have to have other bottled water with me when I run out of the potion. I also hope to shed a few pounds.

Good luck, I completely share your thoughts…I decided over the weekend to begin my cleanse today. I too am very busy with tons of responsibility including teaching grade 4. I know I can do it! haahhahha wish me luck I will definitely need it.

tamara March 26, 2007 at 6:22 am

count me in!!!

Chris March 26, 2007 at 6:32 am

I also will join you on Wednesday to start the Master Cleane. I have done it twice before and have failed both times. The first time lasted 3 days and the last time lasted 4 days. I had nobody encouraging me, only telling me that this was bad for my body and other comments. I think I was weak and deep down just wanted to eat. I look forward to starting with a group that will support each other.

Thank you
Chris

Addelle March 26, 2007 at 6:37 am

Hi Raylen,

Your article is timely I started with the
Master Cleanse diet over a week ago, but with my sisters visiting on holiday it has been difficult to be consistant, so I have only been taking it first thing on mornings, their are leaving on Wednesday so everything should be back to normal.

I will be happy to join you on Wednesday.

Addelle

Val March 26, 2007 at 6:43 am

Hi Ray,

I have made several attempts to do the Master Clense and I have not been successful. I’m normally able to remain focus and complete a task. I take the pepper pills and the hoodia to assist with the hunger. The pepper pills make my throat burn and the hoodia makes me feel dazed. I just don’t know what else to do! Very frustrated! Sighhhhhhhh

Keta March 26, 2007 at 6:43 am

Ive started mine today… SO lets see how it goes

Tom March 26, 2007 at 6:46 am

Hi Raylen,
I just finished my first 10 day cleanse on Friday March 16 and don’t think I will do another right now but I will follow along while you are doing yours….I lost alot of weight (24lbs) and got pneumonia on the 11th day and it took me until yesterday to start feeling better. I don’t for a minute blame the cleanse and will do it again probably in May. It should be easier the next time.

Shalonda March 26, 2007 at 6:55 am

Noo excuses here. I will start with you. I’ve put it off long enough.

Lenora March 26, 2007 at 7:00 am

I have tried to do the master cleanse on a few occasions but the addiction to sugar is so strong, I lose the battle. My doc says I must cut out the sugar and anything else that feeds the yeast in my body. (long list of stuff) What, if anything, can I substitute for the maple syrup? Can the cleanse be done with just the lemon and the cayenne? Maybe if I am doing it with others and have somewhere to share I can get thru it. Thanx for the invite and the opportunity.

Lenora :-)

Kay March 26, 2007 at 7:09 am

THANK YOU!!! For doing this cleanse. I definately will join you. I think doing this with someone elses support will be a HUGH help to keep going. will be looking forward to it!

Shan March 26, 2007 at 7:10 am

I’m ready to get started :-)

P Hancox March 26, 2007 at 7:13 am

I am wondering is there any thing you can eat while on the master cleanse at at all. Fruit

Erin March 26, 2007 at 7:14 am

Good Morning Raylen and Lyn,

I hope you both are doing well! I too am excited to partake in this cleanse this week, and I am glad that we are going to share the experience.
I was making excuses and putting it off too, I would start with the lax tea at night saying “tomorrow’s the day!” then go back to my daily breakfast routine.
Then just yesterday, I says, “For real, we’re going to do this, and start on Wednesday!”, (thinking of your advice of picking a specific goal starting day) so it was a beautiful surprise checking my email this morning to find you both wanting to share in the cleansing experience! and the start date being Wednesday. Sounds like the law of attraction at work!
I wish that you all have a beautiful day!

Namaste,
Erin

Tramaine March 26, 2007 at 7:22 am

Hi Raylen,
I would like to join you on the 10 day cleanse. I have never been able to complete the 10 day cleanse successfully. So, I am going to start with you on Wednesday. I’ll be reading your blog daily for motivation. I’m definitely going to need it. LOL

Kelley March 26, 2007 at 7:25 am

Hi Raylen. I am on day 8 of the Master Cleanse, and want to say that I am feeling great….and I continue to run every day. I did it 6 months ago, subscribed to your newlsetter back then, and really enjoy getting all the info on it regularly. My intention is to do it twice a year. I did it exactly 6 months ago. Last time, I did it perfectly, but didn’t do a good job of coming off slowly. This time, I have cheated a couple of times (I’ve chewed and spit out the food I was preparing for my family, and one day I sort of binged on a couple of things like potato chips), but am committed to completing and going off of it correctly and doing a better job of my eating after the fact. Here’s my biggest issue….I am a married mom….and I cook for my family daily. Making the environment work for me is not an option, so I just have to REALLY work my will-power when I do this. I am getting better at it, and I do believe the Master Cleanse does great things for me. I will continue to do it twice a year, and next time I know I will get it right!!!!

Good morning Raylean…You’re right, it’s time for a Spring cleaning. This will be my second attempt. I previously tried about 3 months ago and stopped on day 8. But the experience was truly worth it. I felt 100% better, my skin was glowing and I had an weight drop of 17 lbs. I intend to stay on the whole 10 days this go around. Thanks and I’ll be joining you in the cleanse. Good Luck!

connie March 26, 2007 at 7:36 am

Bridget Turner March 26, 2007 at 7:42 am

I am actually starting the Cleanse today (Monday, March 26, 2007). Great minds think alike. Happy Cleansing!

Faye Thomas March 26, 2007 at 7:49 am

Hi Raylen,
My first time doing the cleanse was in February. After that, I thought about cleansing once every 3 months. Is there such a thing as too much cleansing? or how often should I cleanse/ how healthy is it? I am thinking of doing it sooner though! I only did 5 days on my first attempt, but I felt wonderful! And I’m looking forward to doing it again, soon.

lakeesha March 26, 2007 at 7:58 am

I would love to start the master clean with you because I know that I will need a lot of suppor inorder to do this. 10 days is not bad and I know that I can do it will the support of others.

Nichol March 26, 2007 at 8:01 am

I was wondering why 10 days i have begun a five day today but wasnt sure if it was too long but now I saw you were doing 10 days and am wondering if I can go the mile.

alecia March 26, 2007 at 8:05 am

Hi Raylen,

I too have been putting off the master cleanse. I’ve tried once but failed because I was not mentally prepared to succeed. I look forward to this challenge I have already started the precleanse last night (sunday).
Have a great day!

Donna March 26, 2007 at 8:08 am

Raylen,
I started my Spring Cleanse on the Spring Equinox which was March 20th so I am on my 6th day today. I will not lie it has been hard, you do have hunger pains, but I told my husband last night…I know this is a pain for you but if you would just try it and see how GREAT you feel!! It would all be worth it in the end. The aches and pains are gone, the fuzzy head is gone, the energy level is better then when I was a teenager. haha I love your site and use it often. I cannot wait to here how everyone does on there cleanse.
Love and Light,
Donna

Lillie Kimble March 26, 2007 at 8:08 am

Hello Raylen, been looking forward to starting the master cleanse, but just been to lazy to get started. Happy to know that you will start your spring cleanseing this Wednesday. I’m going to make it my goal to start with you this wednesday also. No more excuses.

Brenda March 26, 2007 at 8:15 am

Can you do the master cleanse and go to work everyday?

Tony_Mac March 26, 2007 at 8:28 am

Hello Raylen,

Looking forward to joining you on the spring MC quest. It is much more inspiring for me to join others in somewhat of a community effort although the experience is truly an individual one. I look forward to the support and opportunity to support others as well.

Kate March 26, 2007 at 8:47 am

Hello Raylen,

My name is Kate and I live in Ireland, and have not yet managed to get up the courage to do the master cleanse. I am 52 years old, and wonder would it be detrimental to my health (taking into account the menopause!)

I will be really interested to read how you are getting on, I supppose I wonder is this just another fad diet. Maybe reading how you are getting on will give me the motivation to try it myself.

I wish you the very best of luck.

Kindest regards,

Kate.

Sharon March 26, 2007 at 8:53 am

I’ll join you Raylen. However, I am training for a marathon. We have a 10 mile walk/run this Saturday. Any recommendations on how to sustain my energy for the walk during the cleanse or should I consider skipping a week? (The marathon is in July.) This will be my second time doing the cleanse (completed 10 days last fall).

Kim DeReuter March 26, 2007 at 8:54 am

Hi Raylen,
I’ve been coming up with every excuse in the book not to do the cleanse, but I know, as you mentioned as well, how awesome I feel after I’m done with the ten days.
I’ll definitely follow you along the cleanse.
Thanks for the invite :)
Here’s to health!

Karen March 26, 2007 at 9:21 am

Hi, I’m a reporter thinking of writing a story about the master cleanse. I’d love to talk to anyone who is doing it. Email me if you’re interested in being interviewed.

Thanks,

Karen

Linny March 26, 2007 at 9:49 am

Rayeln,

I just finished reading your mail notifying everyone you are going to begin your “spring” cleanse. I just finished mine two weeks ago, therefore I will not be joining you this time. It would have been nice to have had companionship. Maybe next time. Look forward to your progress.

Linny

Carla March 26, 2007 at 9:57 am

Good Luck to you. I have done it twice the first time I stayed on it for 15 days. Lost 10 lbs. Then for 10 days and lost another 10. I feel great!! Someone told me not to stay on the smooth move for long. Can that hurt you??? I feel so good using it otherwise I never seem to go!!!

Shirley van Leeuwen March 26, 2007 at 10:17 am

Hello Raylen,
Yes you can count me in for Wedneday.
