Yesterday we talked about Metabolic Syndrome, and the effects it has on your body.

Today, I want to share some natural remedies that can help prevent or reverse Metabolic Syndrome.

Some of you also asked for a more detailed explanation about Metabolic Syndrome, so I shared a power point video by Dr. Saurabh Bhatia that goes into more details at the end of this post

The following Metabolic Syndrome treatments all come from published medical studies. You can find these three natural Metabolic Syndrome cures at most health stores or online for a reasonable price.

1. Olive Leaf Polyphenols

Supplementation with olive leaf polyphenols for 12 weeks significantly improved insulin sensitivity and pancreatic ?-cell secretory capacity in overweight middle-aged men at risk of developing the metabolic syndrome.

2. Green Tea

Green tea, a popular polyphenol-containing beverage, has been shown to alleviate clinical features of the metabolic syndrome. However, its effects in endogenous antioxidant biomarkers are not clearly understood. Thus, we tested the hypothesis that green tea supplementation will upregulate antioxidant parameters (enzymatic and nonenzymatic) in adults with the metabolic syndrome.

Thirty-five obese participants with the metabolic syndrome were randomly assigned to receive one of the following for 8 weeks: green tea (4 cups per day), control (4 cups water per day), or green tea extract (2 capsules and 4 cups water per day). Blood samples and dietary information were collected at baseline (0 week) and 8 weeks of the study. Circulating carotenoids (?-carotene, ?-carotene, lycopene) and tocopherols (?-tocopherol, ?-tocopherol) and trace elements were measured using high-performance liquid chromatography and inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy, respectively. Serum antioxidant enzymes (glutathione peroxidase, glutathione, catalase) and plasma antioxidant capacity were measured spectrophotometrically.

Green tea beverage and green tea extract significantly increased plasma antioxidant capacity (1.5 to 2.3 ?mol/L and 1.2 to 2.5 ?mol/L, respectively; P < .05) and whole blood glutathione (1783 to 2395 ?g/g hemoglobin and 1905 to 2751 ?g/g hemoglobin, respectively; P < .05) vs controls at 8 weeks. No effects were noted in serum levels of carotenoids and tocopherols and glutathione peroxidase and catalase activities. Green tea extract significantly reduced plasma iron vs baseline (128 to 92?g/dL, P < .02), whereas copper, zinc, and selenium were not affected.

These results support the hypothesis that green tea may provide antioxidant protection in the metabolic syndrome.

3. Aged Garlic

Garlic (Allium sativum) has been shown to have important benefits in individuals at high cardiovascular risk. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of the administration of aged garlic extract (AGE) on the risk factors that constitute the cluster of metabolic syndrome (MS).

Methods and Design. Double-blind, crossover, randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial to assess the effect of 1.2 g/day of AGE (Kyolic), for 24 weeks of treatment (12 weeks of AGE and 12 weeks of placebo), on subjects with MS. Results. The administration of AGE increased the plasma levels of adiponectin (P = 0.027). No serious side effects associated with the intervention were reported.

Conclusion. The present results have shown for the first time that the administration of AGE for 12 weeks increased plasma adiponectin levels in patients with MS [metabolic syndrome]. This suggests that AGE might be a useful, novel, nonpharmacological therapeutic intervention to increase adiponectin and to prevent cardiovascular (CV) complications in individuals with MS[metabolic syndrome].

If you’re suffering from food cravings, drastic energy swings, or other symptoms of Metabolic Syndrome, these 3 natural remedies can help.

If you have per-diabetes, or are significantly over weight, you’ll probably need to make some lifestyle changes in addition to using these natural remedies if you want to cure Metabolic Syndrome. Please let me know in the comment section below if that’s something you would like to know more about.

  1. for your information: in your master cleanse recipe, you may want to have someone check your spellings:
I’d rather have my energy levels SOAR, than be sore!!! And, ‘It restores your body to ITS normal, healthy state. IT’S is short for IT IS; not quite the same thing. English is such a beautiful language when used properly!
