The Changes You Experience On The Master Cleanse

by Raylen on February 25, 2008

I know of lot of the people who read this blog don’t just come here for information about how to do the master cleanse, but to get inspiration and motivation. Lets be honest the master cleanse can be difficult. You will be hungry, and you might even feel like giving up. But if you can stick with it you’ll experience a rapid transformation in the way you look and feel.

It’s the speed at which your body changes that makes master cleanse so special, and today I want to share a story about these changes that a reader posted to this blog.

If you’re thinking about trying the master cleanse or doing the master cleanse right now I think you’ll find this uplifting. I know I did.

I am on day 9 and feel fantastic. I don’t have a scale but I’d guess I’ve lost maybe close to 10 pounds. I am 45 years old and I never had a problem with my weight until the last few years. I was always a size 6 or thereabouts, then crept up to an 8, then recently a 10. I am small boned and 5′ 2″ so I cannot carry 147 pounds well. Most importantly I felt sluggish, tired and unhealthy. Too much fast food and junk food. I heard some people in my church talking about it and decided to do it. It was no where near as hard as I thought it would be! I was rarely hungry and if I did get a grumble I just drank some lemonade and it went away immediately. The first day or two I didn’t like the taste of maple in my lemonade, but now I am so used to it and really like it. Luckily I love spicy food so the pepper was a perfect addition for me.

I felt I needed to just quit all the junk cold turkey and re-set my body. I feel it has worked. I have a much bigger desire for whole foods and vegetables now, and I don’t crave fast food as much as before. The thought of processed food or pop makes me feel sick.

The part of the cleanse I liked the least was the laxatives, though I know it was necessary. My colon feels really good — empty and firm, not stuffed and bloated. I can’t believe how “light” I feel!

The most incredible thing to me besides how energetic I feel is the changes in my body. The football I seemed to swallow and which was lodged up under my diaphragm making me short of breath is gone. The bulges at the top of my outer thighs are gone. I have a waist again instead of that straight “trunk” look that I had before that made me look like a typical middle aged woman. I feel ten years younger! The leg cramps I got every night have pretty much vanished. The canker sores in my mouth are gone. I sleep really, really well, better than I have in ages. My hot flashes are gone!!

Master Cleanse, you are heaven sent!

Debbie

I’m glad to hear the other results but, I am having the hardest time sticking to this! I made it through 20oz on day 1 with lots of water and have made it through 17oz so far today and it’s already 8:05pm! I HATE the pepper! It makes me so sick to my stomach, burns my tongue and throat. Please help me! I don’t want to quit. But, I do need some help!

I would like to know what you do about the headaches?

Marianne March 3, 2008 at 9:09 am

I experienced extreme discomfort in my legs and hips the first time I tried it. I believe it was around the 4th day. I did not stick to it too much after that, however I am going to try it again because, even for the short time I did it I experienced some wonderful results. Skin cleared up, lost a few pounds and felt better.
Do you have any information regarding the pain in the hips and legs?

Hi, I just started the master cleanse, and I’m really excited. My first day went buy ok. Word of caution, try holding your nose when drinking the salt water and get the citrus juicer, it’s inexpensive and very efficient. Lost 1lb. I’m 29 and a hefty 150lbs, I hope to last 10 days and hopefully loose 20lbs.

I am on my 7th day, tomorrow being the 8th. I feel much healthier and have more energy than expected. I have not been hungry so to speak it was only yesterday that I just wanted some food so the drink really does help with cravings. I was 150 and I am now 143 today. I dislike the laxatives and sometimes feel sick after I drink it but then I just take a big glass of water after it is all done and I feel better.

I’m now on day 8 of the Master Cleanse. I have only lost 2-3 lbs. Though I hear from everyone else who has done this cleanse that they lost anywhere from 10-20 lbs throughout the course. I have not cheated at all during these 8 days. I follow the steps exactly, with the exception of the salt water flush which I substitute with an herbal laxative tea (saltwater flush made me vomit). Can anyone explain why I have only lost 2-3 lbs?

I am starting the master cleanse tomorrow and have benefited greatly from your site. It is informative and inspirational. I will check in each day…I do believe that most things worthwhile are not easy…..nothing easy about not eating. Period. But with the support that is available on your site I feel confident I can move forward on the cleanse one day at a time. Thanks for being here.

In repsonse to the person who lost only 2-3 lbs after 8 days. I experienced the same thing the very first time I did the Master Cleanse – it was as if my body was resistant to change. However, the next time I completed it and each time afterwards I lost 1-2 pounds a day. The Master Cleanse eliminated so many issues for me – no more joint pains (elbows, knees, ankles), an extreme decrease in sugar cravings, clearer skin, restful nights and it just completely reset my body in such a way that I know soon after eating – what foods are good for me – bad foods create discomfort and good foods don’t. It’s Great!!

Can you drink organic green and white tea while doing the MC?

Paul R April 6, 2008 at 9:25 pm

Hi. This is my first time doing this. By “this” I mean 1. attempting to do any kind of fast/cleansing 2. making my upcoming experience available for anyone to read. What if I fail….but more importantly….what if I SUCCEED? I know a little about both options since I’m a recovering drug addict. As of March 21, 2008 I have 9 months “clean” and feel like I have been released from prison.I had been using drugs since I was 15 years old (I’m now 51) and finally realized that my body (mental and physical)is a precious gift that I need to take care of. I have absolutely no idea how or even why I ended up on your Master Cleanse web site but I’m so greatful that I did! OK….now the real deal. I went shopping today (April 6, 2008) and picked up all the supplies needed to get started. I am going to formally begin the Master Cleanse tomorrow but I did test the lemonade at 4:00 PM. I mixed a glass of it and “bam” (haha) finished it in less than 20 seconds. It was so good I probably could have finished a whole days worth in about 5 minutes. At around 10:00 PM I did a test run of the 32 ounce salt water flush and as of 11:22 I am feeling an approaching thunder storm. Well anyhoo….thanks for reading this and I’ll try to share my strength, hope, and experience with Master Cleanse over the next 10 days. Paul R.

I’d like to know roughly around what day do you actually “let out” those alien looking things? They kind of look like intestines

Katyanna April 12, 2008 at 11:36 am

I would really like to start The Master Cleanse. I have enjoyed the benefits of a really healthy lifestyle and have felt great. For the passed three months I have been living in Guatemala and I’m not sure what’s happening. I feel weak and sluggish and am suceptible to every illness that comes along. I think I need something like this to reset my body, but it is simply impossible to find grade B maple syrup here. I’ve read that using honey will not work. Is there other substitues.

karen April 12, 2008 at 11:48 am

I am currently on Day 6 of the cleanse. I am feeling great. My only concern since being on the cleanse is that I have had diarhea throughout; not one normal stool. I assumed this was a result of the SWF and the laxative tea. Is this normal?

I am on my final day (10th) of the cleanse…I’m actually starting orange juice tonight, by the way I hate orange juice!! But I thought it wouldn’t hurt. I went grocery shopping today and bought tons of fruits and veggies!! I cannot wait to eat real food. This was not hard for me at all, I thought I would just try it and I actually stuck to it. Although they say it shouldn’t be the reason for doing the Master Cleanse, I have lost 13 lbs. But I also feel fantastic and have been obsessed with healthy foods this whole week, researching and finding things I should start eating and cooking..Good luck to everyone, I hope your experience is as easy as mine was!!!

Hi

Today is my first day of the master cleanse. I have done it before but conjunction with a group yoga cleanse. One where we lead up to the master cleanse and the fast. I fasted for three days, I believe one time I lasted for four. I would ideally like to make it to ten but am shooting for seven initially as to not disappoint myself. I am also going to focus on just getting though the first three days of the cleanse as I know they are the hardest. I just drank the salt water, YUCK…dont feel so good after that. I could only get down about 17oz. I figure I will start slow with that….I feel a bit dizzy from drinking it. My goal is to loose at least 7 to 10 pounds and just feel more energized. I definitely have some toxicity going on, ache in my left finger joint, swollen lymph last weeks, acne, and overall fatigue. I eat pretty well, besides my chocolate vice and my yerba habbit. I do not eat red meat and rarely eat bread even, I dont drink alcohol, not sure where this extra weight is coming from. Well thats it for now

Hi,

I started the Master Cleanse on February 10, 2009, I am 50, weighed 129 when I started and am very small boned. I did it through Saturday and lost 9 pounds (down to 121). I am back on it this a.m. (after a little break, which I know we aren’t supposed to do, but it was the weekend)… I woke up this a.m. and I was still 9 pounds down!!!! I don’t have hot flashes anymore and I feel freaking great!!!! I am going to do it through this next Friday, hoping to get down to about 110. I love this stuff… I even ate the lemon fruit (which you can do), because I love sour stuff.

Cecilia March 10, 2009 at 12:14 pm

I am on Day 2 of TMC and so far I feel fine. Me and my husband started it together. I know this sounds weird, but I’m excited to see the alien poops come out of me lol. I can’t wait to get through this. Is there anything to do about the headaches? I don’t have any but my husband has one and wants to take aspirin. I told him no way! Anyway I’m really glad I’m doing this!

Ali March 10, 2009 at 7:28 pm

I just started the cleanse this morning. I was wondering if anyone knows if you can use organic honey instead of mapel syrup. Let me know. I hate the pepper, it’s giving me a sore throat. And the salt water made me want to throw up. I am going to try this for 5 days. Wish me luck!

Tray March 22, 2009 at 5:51 pm

Ali, per the book, we’re not supposed to substitute any of the ingredients for something else and you should do the cleanse for at least 10 full days. I am starting again at midnight..I was on the cleanse a month ago and I only managed to do four days because I had headaches from hell and I felt like eating something would cure it. Nonetheless, I’m more focused now and I have a goal to reach so good luck to everyone out there doing the cleanse.

Suzanne July 17, 2009 at 11:22 am

If you do not want to put cayenne pepper in the drink then buy the cayenne pepper pills. I did, it works the same.

I am on day three of my MC I have followed everything to a t and I am bloated full of water and constipated when I did the salt water flush I just pooed yellow liquid all I can think about is having a bowel movement is there any other things I can do to not be constipated?Plus I weigh more now.

Erin January 15, 2010 at 2:23 pm

I am on day 5 of the cleanse and while challenging, it has really been worth it. I am down 12 lbs! My body feels great, I am not hungry at all BUT…I just want some flavor. I’m seriously thinking about just chewing something and spitting it out…oh but then I’ll want more. Anyway, I just want to say for anyone thinking about this…JUST DO IT. After a lifetime of shoveling food in your gullet what is 10 days? It’s 10 little days. I started on Monday so I have loaded my weekend with things to do so I dont just hang around thinking about food. OK, even writing this gave me more motivation. Oh and definitely go get the Cayenne pills. The lady at the store I went to was even nice enough to tell me to watch the “heat-unit” on the bottle. I found some by SOLARAY “Cool Cayenne”that take away the heartburn some experience. GOOD LUCK!
