I know of lot of the people who read this blog don’t just come here for information about how to do the master cleanse, but to get inspiration and motivation. Lets be honest the master cleanse can be difficult. You will be hungry, and you might even feel like giving up. But if you can stick with it you’ll experience a rapid transformation in the way you look and feel.
It’s the speed at which your body changes that makes master cleanse so special, and today I want to share a story about these changes that a reader posted to this blog.
If you’re thinking about trying the master cleanse or doing the master cleanse right now I think you’ll find this uplifting. I know I did.
I am on day 9 and feel fantastic. I don’t have a scale but I’d guess I’ve lost maybe close to 10 pounds. I am 45 years old and I never had a problem with my weight until the last few years. I was always a size 6 or thereabouts, then crept up to an 8, then recently a 10. I am small boned and 5′ 2″ so I cannot carry 147 pounds well. Most importantly I felt sluggish, tired and unhealthy. Too much fast food and junk food. I heard some people in my church talking about it and decided to do it. It was no where near as hard as I thought it would be! I was rarely hungry and if I did get a grumble I just drank some lemonade and it went away immediately. The first day or two I didn’t like the taste of maple in my lemonade, but now I am so used to it and really like it. Luckily I love spicy food so the pepper was a perfect addition for me.
I felt I needed to just quit all the junk cold turkey and re-set my body. I feel it has worked. I have a much bigger desire for whole foods and vegetables now, and I don’t crave fast food as much as before. The thought of processed food or pop makes me feel sick.
The part of the cleanse I liked the least was the laxatives, though I know it was necessary. My colon feels really good — empty and firm, not stuffed and bloated. I can’t believe how “light†I feel!
The most incredible thing to me besides how energetic I feel is the changes in my body. The football I seemed to swallow and which was lodged up under my diaphragm making me short of breath is gone. The bulges at the top of my outer thighs are gone. I have a waist again instead of that straight “trunk†look that I had before that made me look like a typical middle aged woman. I feel ten years younger! The leg cramps I got every night have pretty much vanished. The canker sores in my mouth are gone. I sleep really, really well, better than I have in ages. My hot flashes are gone!!
Master Cleanse, you are heaven sent!
Debbie

hi… im really excited to start the master cleans diet.. and the benifits of good health that i will get and after these i want to have a really good and healthy diet to maintaine my weight loss but im confuse if i can make it effectively coz some of the ingridients like an organic maple syrup is nowhere to find here in the philippines.. whats only available is a 2% real maple only that can be bought in most of the groceries store here… need some advise.. is there any alternative for this? does it make any difference if its not organic….
thank you so much,
cherry
I’m glad to hear the other results but, I am having the hardest time sticking to this! I made it through 20oz on day 1 with lots of water and have made it through 17oz so far today and it’s already 8:05pm! I HATE the pepper! It makes me so sick to my stomach, burns my tongue and throat. Please help me! I don’t want to quit. But, I do need some help!
I would like to know what you do about the headaches?
I experienced extreme discomfort in my legs and hips the first time I tried it. I believe it was around the 4th day. I did not stick to it too much after that, however I am going to try it again because, even for the short time I did it I experienced some wonderful results. Skin cleared up, lost a few pounds and felt better.
Do you have any information regarding the pain in the hips and legs?
Hi, I just started the master cleanse, and I’m really excited. My first day went buy ok. Word of caution, try holding your nose when drinking the salt water and get the citrus juicer, it’s inexpensive and very efficient. Lost 1lb. I’m 29 and a hefty 150lbs, I hope to last 10 days and hopefully loose 20lbs.
I am on my 7th day, tomorrow being the 8th. I feel much healthier and have more energy than expected. I have not been hungry so to speak it was only yesterday that I just wanted some food so the drink really does help with cravings. I was 150 and I am now 143 today. I dislike the laxatives and sometimes feel sick after I drink it but then I just take a big glass of water after it is all done and I feel better.
I’m now on day 8 of the Master Cleanse. I have only lost 2-3 lbs. Though I hear from everyone else who has done this cleanse that they lost anywhere from 10-20 lbs throughout the course. I have not cheated at all during these 8 days. I follow the steps exactly, with the exception of the salt water flush which I substitute with an herbal laxative tea (saltwater flush made me vomit). Can anyone explain why I have only lost 2-3 lbs?
I am starting the master cleanse tomorrow and have benefited greatly from your site. It is informative and inspirational. I will check in each day…I do believe that most things worthwhile are not easy…..nothing easy about not eating. Period. But with the support that is available on your site I feel confident I can move forward on the cleanse one day at a time. Thanks for being here.
In repsonse to the person who lost only 2-3 lbs after 8 days. I experienced the same thing the very first time I did the Master Cleanse – it was as if my body was resistant to change. However, the next time I completed it and each time afterwards I lost 1-2 pounds a day. The Master Cleanse eliminated so many issues for me – no more joint pains (elbows, knees, ankles), an extreme decrease in sugar cravings, clearer skin, restful nights and it just completely reset my body in such a way that I know soon after eating – what foods are good for me – bad foods create discomfort and good foods don’t. It’s Great!!
Can you drink organic green and white tea while doing the MC?
Hi. This is my first time doing this. By “this” I mean 1. attempting to do any kind of fast/cleansing 2. making my upcoming experience available for anyone to read. What if I fail….but more importantly….what if I SUCCEED? I know a little about both options since I’m a recovering drug addict. As of March 21, 2008 I have 9 months “clean” and feel like I have been released from prison.I had been using drugs since I was 15 years old (I’m now 51) and finally realized that my body (mental and physical)is a precious gift that I need to take care of. I have absolutely no idea how or even why I ended up on your Master Cleanse web site but I’m so greatful that I did! OK….now the real deal. I went shopping today (April 6, 2008) and picked up all the supplies needed to get started. I am going to formally begin the Master Cleanse tomorrow but I did test the lemonade at 4:00 PM. I mixed a glass of it and “bam” (haha) finished it in less than 20 seconds. It was so good I probably could have finished a whole days worth in about 5 minutes. At around 10:00 PM I did a test run of the 32 ounce salt water flush and as of 11:22 I am feeling an approaching thunder storm. Well anyhoo….thanks for reading this and I’ll try to share my strength, hope, and experience with Master Cleanse over the next 10 days. Paul R.
I’d like to know roughly around what day do you actually “let out” those alien looking things? They kind of look like intestines
I would really like to start The Master Cleanse. I have enjoyed the benefits of a really healthy lifestyle and have felt great. For the passed three months I have been living in Guatemala and I’m not sure what’s happening. I feel weak and sluggish and am suceptible to every illness that comes along. I think I need something like this to reset my body, but it is simply impossible to find grade B maple syrup here. I’ve read that using honey will not work. Is there other substitues.
I am currently on Day 6 of the cleanse. I am feeling great. My only concern since being on the cleanse is that I have had diarhea throughout; not one normal stool. I assumed this was a result of the SWF and the laxative tea. Is this normal?
I am on my final day (10th) of the cleanse…I’m actually starting orange juice tonight, by the way I hate orange juice!! But I thought it wouldn’t hurt. I went grocery shopping today and bought tons of fruits and veggies!! I cannot wait to eat real food. This was not hard for me at all, I thought I would just try it and I actually stuck to it. Although they say it shouldn’t be the reason for doing the Master Cleanse, I have lost 13 lbs. But I also feel fantastic and have been obsessed with healthy foods this whole week, researching and finding things I should start eating and cooking..Good luck to everyone, I hope your experience is as easy as mine was!!!
Hi
Today is my first day of the master cleanse. I have done it before but conjunction with a group yoga cleanse. One where we lead up to the master cleanse and the fast. I fasted for three days, I believe one time I lasted for four. I would ideally like to make it to ten but am shooting for seven initially as to not disappoint myself. I am also going to focus on just getting though the first three days of the cleanse as I know they are the hardest. I just drank the salt water, YUCK…dont feel so good after that. I could only get down about 17oz. I figure I will start slow with that….I feel a bit dizzy from drinking it. My goal is to loose at least 7 to 10 pounds and just feel more energized. I definitely have some toxicity going on, ache in my left finger joint, swollen lymph last weeks, acne, and overall fatigue. I eat pretty well, besides my chocolate vice and my yerba habbit. I do not eat red meat and rarely eat bread even, I dont drink alcohol, not sure where this extra weight is coming from. Well thats it for now
Hi,
I started the Master Cleanse on February 10, 2009, I am 50, weighed 129 when I started and am very small boned. I did it through Saturday and lost 9 pounds (down to 121). I am back on it this a.m. (after a little break, which I know we aren’t supposed to do, but it was the weekend)… I woke up this a.m. and I was still 9 pounds down!!!! I don’t have hot flashes anymore and I feel freaking great!!!! I am going to do it through this next Friday, hoping to get down to about 110. I love this stuff… I even ate the lemon fruit (which you can do), because I love sour stuff.
I am on Day 2 of TMC and so far I feel fine. Me and my husband started it together. I know this sounds weird, but I’m excited to see the alien poops come out of me lol. I can’t wait to get through this. Is there anything to do about the headaches? I don’t have any but my husband has one and wants to take aspirin. I told him no way! Anyway I’m really glad I’m doing this!
I just started the cleanse this morning. I was wondering if anyone knows if you can use organic honey instead of mapel syrup. Let me know. I hate the pepper, it’s giving me a sore throat. And the salt water made me want to throw up. I am going to try this for 5 days. Wish me luck!
Ali, per the book, we’re not supposed to substitute any of the ingredients for something else and you should do the cleanse for at least 10 full days. I am starting again at midnight..I was on the cleanse a month ago and I only managed to do four days because I had headaches from hell and I felt like eating something would cure it. Nonetheless, I’m more focused now and I have a goal to reach so good luck to everyone out there doing the cleanse.
If you do not want to put cayenne pepper in the drink then buy the cayenne pepper pills. I did, it works the same.
I am on day three of my MC I have followed everything to a t and I am bloated full of water and constipated when I did the salt water flush I just pooed yellow liquid all I can think about is having a bowel movement is there any other things I can do to not be constipated?Plus I weigh more now.
I am on day 5 of the cleanse and while challenging, it has really been worth it. I am down 12 lbs! My body feels great, I am not hungry at all BUT…I just want some flavor. I’m seriously thinking about just chewing something and spitting it out…oh but then I’ll want more. Anyway, I just want to say for anyone thinking about this…JUST DO IT. After a lifetime of shoveling food in your gullet what is 10 days? It’s 10 little days. I started on Monday so I have loaded my weekend with things to do so I dont just hang around thinking about food. OK, even writing this gave me more motivation. Oh and definitely go get the Cayenne pills. The lady at the store I went to was even nice enough to tell me to watch the “heat-unit” on the bottle. I found some by SOLARAY “Cool Cayenne”that take away the heartburn some experience. GOOD LUCK!
Hi! Today would have been day 5 for me except I woke up at 5am sweating a lot and when I tried to drink water and the lemonade I threw it all up. If I didn’t have to work today I wouldn’t have gave up but instead I drank some juice and am weening off it now
I’m not sure what went wrong- yesterday I felt great until about midnight after I had the laxative tea I started to feel really hot and tired and woke up worse
anyone know what happened? Maybe I needed to drink more lemonade? I was drinking 6 servings a day and lost 7 lbs in 4 days… Still worth it and I’m temtped to try again sometime.
Today is day 2 of MC for me, and I’m really not sure what to think of yesterday (day 1). On day 1, within 5 minutes of drinking the SWF, I threw up every bit of it. Tried again a couple hours later and managed to keep it down. Was very disappointed with the “poop”, because after reading other blogs, I really thought more would come out. Was mainly the yellow “butt pee” I’ve read others describe. No headaches yesterday, but my legs and stomach were crampy, and managed two servings of lemonade and no extra water – which was not planned that way; just had an uncomfortable fullness and couldn’t stand the thought of drinking anything. The Smooth Move lax tea cramped me up last night, and it took about 10 hours to get through me to this morning. After that elimination, weighed myself and down 7 pounds this morning, after 1 day. I have the white tongue already – was it supposed to happen that fast? Did SWF for this day 2 and still no poop – where is it?? Just the “butt pee”. I have read so many blogs on MC, which have been helpful and I thought I knew what to expect, but still seems I have so many questions about what is happening.
I am on day 7 of the cleanse. Haven’t done it in a couple of years.
This time it seems much easier. So far I’ve lost 13 pounds. Thanks for the idea of the cayenne pepper pills. Will pick some up tomorrow.
I don’t eat meat, deep fry foods or bread so coming off the cleanse won’t be a problem. I want to keep the weight off. What’s the best way to retain the weight loss after the cleanse?
I started the MC diet today after having tried and given up on day 1 twice before. So far so good. I gained weight after undergoing invitro almost five years ago. Can’t seem to lose the weight no matter which diet/exercise regime I try. I was told I needed to go on medications for the rest of my life to balance out my hormones. I am giving this cleanse a shot as a last ditch effort before I resign myself to being overweight for the rest of my life. I had always been a size 1 or 3, now I’m a size 14 or 16. In pounds, that translates (at least with my body type) to having gone from120lbs to 190lbs. I am glad I found this blog for motivation. I needed it today after I almost gave up once again by dinner time. I love food and I love to eat good food. Always have loved food – even when I was slim. So, I am looking forward to reading other’s success stories to keep me on target.
I can only use NON ORGANIC lemons, is that ok do you think?
This is my third time doing the cleanse. The last time I did it was two winters ago, and I got pregnant about one month after finishing. I gained 60 lbs during pregnancy and have lost all but the last 10 through proper diet and exercise. I’m excited for the clarity and the exhilaration of the cleanse–and especially excited to get my food cravings in check and my weight back to where it should be.
Day 1 (yesterday) was a breeze, and day 2 has been easy–I even ran 3 miles! One trick I’ve discovered to help combat the “mental” hunger for the taste and the ritual of food is drinking Yerba Mate.
I’ve already lost 1 pound, and my belly looks trimmer, or at least less full.
Good luck to everyone else out there doing this, or thinking about doing it. And thanks for the inspiration here!
This is my second ‘cleanse’ I’ve done in 5 yrs. The first is the Arise and Shine cleanse which I did for 7 days and lost 12 lbs. This time around I’m doing the Master Cleanse because its cheaper!!!!
I’m on my 3 rd day.. no more headaches, my mind is clear and everything looks much brighter. I had forgotten how much eating can be just because my taste buds are bored, I actually prepared steak, green beans and tomato soup for my family last night, sat and watched them eat and didn’t even twitch to eat. I’m napping everyday at work during lunch time and go to bed early. Looking forward to cleansing and losing weight. I think I may jut do a liver flush and parasite cleanse when I’m done with the Master cleanse…. new clean body for 2011. Wishing everyone with health!!!
hi i have try the master cleanse on march 1 i did it for 14 days i lost 15 pds, it was good because i did see result, i love how i look now and stuff but let me tell you this my body is not normal anymore, meaning my immune system… i just feel week cant stand up for to long and cant stay angry for two long i will faint and normaley i culd of… i think the master cleanse just ran down my body and slow down my motembilism, is a month and 2 weeks since im off it and my body still doesnt feel the same my body is just not normal nomore.
This is Day 1 on the Master Cleanse for me and so far I feel fine. I failed miserable the very first time I tried the Master Cleanse…which was about a month ago. I didnt last the 2nd Day. I am trying it again because Irealized this is all mental. I have researched and have seen major results from the people around me who have done this. I plan on doing it for the full 10 days. I hear if you can do 7 you definately can do 10. My strength is going to come from meditation and reading different blogs to help guide me through this amazing process. I WILL NOT FAIL this time
!
Hi! This is my 4th day on TMC and I am struggling. I work in restaurants and it is so tempting to just quit and indulge in anything and everything. I drink 7 servings of the mix and a ton of water but I still feel hungry and I can’t stand to drink anymore than 7 servings. So far on day 4 I have lost 8lbs
That is my motivation. I am almost halfway finished and have been researching healthy diets for after I get off the cleanse. Anybody know of any good diets? Anyway, I hope you all hang in there and keep motivated!!
Hi there! I weighed 165 I did the Master cleanser for 5days and lost around 11lbs went down to 154lbs. I did cheat a little I could’ve lost more weight. Well since Thanksgiving major temptation I gained the weight back :{ However, tonight I decided to try the cleanse again prior to the New Year (Yay 2012!) This time without cheating. My problem is eating too late and eating meats. When I refrain from the consumption of meat and eating late I stay thinner and also feel healthier I’m going back to doing aerobics & taking dance classes to keep the weight off indefinitely. My goal is to lose 10lbs by Sunday. We will see!
I tried and failed the MC a few weeks ago even though i felt amazing and was going so strong. Once I gave into my night time cravings I broke. This time I am really looking to do this with others in order to stay strong. So this is my Day 1 and so far so good
I am newly single as of yesterday and I am looking at this as a fresh start. Cleansing and starting new. I am excited for this new adventure and I enjoy reading everyone else’s experience as well! Thank you, all
