My name is Raylen Sterling,
Growing up I was not in the best of health. I was raised by a single mom who did the best she could, but often was so busy that at least one meal a day was take out or fast food. For snacks I would eat chips and soda.
As a result I was overweight as a kid. Actually I was obese. I remember my pediatrician telling my mom that if I kept gaining weight at my current pace I would likely not live to see 35 years old. As a result I was put on a diet, but after a few weeks of trying to keep me on a healthy diet eating in our house went back normal.
I was about 100 pounds overweight by the time I was 19 when I decided to take massive action, and finally lose weight. You might be wondering what was it that would drive a 19 year old to finally go on a diet. Was it good health? No, it was girls. It might not be the most noble reason, but for a teenager it was a powerful motivator.
I did the thing everyone tells you not to do to lose weight. I slashed my food intake to about 600 calories a day, and boy did I lose a lot of weight. 11 pounds in the first week. Close to 70 pounds after 3 months. But it was taking it’s toll.
I was famished, sleeping about 11 hours a day, and I was light headed.
My current 600 calorie a day diet was not good for me so I decided to eat a healthy 2,500 calorie a day diet, which for a guy like me who likes to workout, and lift weights should be perfect. But the only problem was the 3 months spent starving myself had lowered my metabolism, so when I starting eating a “normal” diet I still ended up gaining weight (about 35 pounds).
That weight loss attempt taught me a valuable lesson. I learned to never jeopardize my health in pursuit of good health. It sounds like common sense, but every day I see people taking drastic, even dangerous measures to achieve good health. Even with the Master Cleanse there are people who stay on this restrictive diet for longer than a month!
Today, I’m proud to say that I have lost weight, and I am healthy. By using the Master Cleanse for what it’s intended for – to purge unhealthy waste from my body, and help break my junk food addiction I was able to get my weight under control and finally feel good about myself.
The Master Cleanse is not easy, and if you want lasting results you’ll need to eat healthy after the cleanse, but the beauty of the Master Cleanse is how much improvement you will see in a short period of time.

Hi–
I haven’t done the Master Cleanse diet yet, I’m a little afraid because I read somewhere that it might also cause gallstones to pass?
With all the diets I’ve been on and all the weight yo-yo-ing I’ve done through the years I probably have some and I’m afraid they might get stuck if this Cleanse dislodges them.
What do you all think?

Anyways, it’s my ninth day on the Master Cleanse Diet and I’m very excited!!! It’s been a challenge and quite a test of will and commitment. The Salt water, grade B maple syrup, fresh lemons, cayenne, tea, pure clean water. Wow! this is a lot easier than I thought it would be, I had a few family members that tried the MC, they lasted about 4 days. I would see them walking around drinking their lemonaide, I really didn’t think I could go through this. Also when I considered starting the cleanse a few years back, I was either breast feeding, or pregnant. Now that I have some freedom, I decided to give it a try.
I have cronic knee pain, cronic eczema, and lower back pain, I believe that if I detox my body from years of not eating healthy, also from working in a dry cleaners for three years that my body will be free from these aliments. I also wouldn’t mind losing a few pounds in a few places.
Anyway, with that said, I am now on day 2 of the cleanse. My husband is very proud of me for making it this far. I do all the cooking….making very interesting for the cravings, like just chomping down on a piece of garlic, Or stealing my childs meatball sandwich. Or pretending the salt water wash is warm chicken broth. I look forward to see what happens next.

I decided last week that I am going to start the master cleanse 20/09/2007. I live in South Africa and can’t seem to find Grade B organic maple syrup anywhere. I have been looking for it for more than a week now and the only maple syrup I found is: Pure Canadian Maple Syrup Grade 1. It is in a glass bottle and is expensive. On the back of the bottle it says that it only has pure maple syrup as an ingredient. Is it ok to use that? What about pure honey instead, or maybe Manuka honey? Will it also work? Tomorrow is wednesday and I really want to start on Thursday. I am so excited and will be so dissapointed if I can’t start on Thursday. It will be my first time…

Hi,I starting the master cleanse when I was sick,I think it is some kind of lung infection,I have done fasts in the past that when I started I was healthy,it seemed like it was a lot easier to do the fast then rather than now,I am on my 6 day and I am still coughing,any thoughts,thanks Bob.

My name is Andrea I’m 5’5′, 28 yrs old and 165lbs. I have gain 20 pounds in 5 yrs and have really been feeling down about it. I haven’t really change much in my diet other than the fact that now that I’m out of College I don’t do as much walking as I use to. I now this should be done to lose wieght and those it is a concern of mine is not the main reason I’m doing this. I have also noticed my body changing with the food I take in to the healing of wounds, in a negative way and if this diet works the way it say it will than I’m hoping to improving my body from the inside out and hope that that will be the motivation I need to get back into shape.

hi Raylen…..I just finished 5 days of master cleanse. When I started I just had the original book from Stanley Burroughs where I gathered all my information. On my third day I was having a hard time because I had so many questions which the book did not cover. I felt there was a lot of important information missing or not clear enought. So I start checking on the web and finally find you and your great book with more “secret” about the cleanse. It did help a lot and motivated me to finish 5 days. There is one question though that I have not been able to get and it is regarding the elimination process. I had nothing weird coming out from my intestine, apart from a lot of watery stool.The first few days I saw there was some mucus present in the stool, but after that it seems too clean. Where is all that stuff that is meant to come out?

My husband and I have just started the Master Cleanse and I would like to find out if you are able to chew gum or take any kind of mints due to that acid that builds up, and we would like to keep our breath fresh while talking to people and not feel it is being offensive to people.

I like your emails they make me feel better knowing im not by myself. I have tried to read on how to do the master cleanse, but with a full time job,4 kids,a husband and two ill parents to take care of i have no time to read all of that. I just want to thank you for all the email you have sent me. I am in Mexico, Cd. Obregón and I did the master cleanser, I am in the 12th day and drinking orange juice only and getting ready to eat. I lost 10 pounds and feel great!!!. My skin looks a lot of helthier and cleaner.

I started the master cleanse on August 6, 2007, today is August 13 and it is my 8th day. I must say I feel better, can walk better and most of all I feel healthy then I have ever been in years. My cousin turn me on to this cleansing diet. I was always constantly getting sick and I am or was taking diabetes pills for borderline diabetic, high blood pressure pills which I still take, but everything else I am okay. This is a hard diet to be on, you have to set your mind that you really want to do this. I prepared myself a week in advance by eating lighter so that I could start this diet. The first two days it was horrible, drinking the salt water made me feel sick and nauseated but by the third day I could handle the salt water. Of course I dread the salt water in the mornings but I do it for my health, other wise I like the lemon mixture, and don’t think I don’t think of food because it comes and goes, I am just going to have to changes my eating habits. I need to loose weight but do this program is about being healthy inside if the weight comes off than I am happy all I know this is a wonderful diet and I would do this every three months. It’s so nice to read about some of the other people’s positive experiences concerning the Master Cleanse! The cleanse also has changed my life, I have been doing the cleanse since 2006 every 3 to 4 months and I will continue doing it probably for the rest of my life.
My husband however has a couple of health issues hypertention and acid reflux and everytime he tries the cleanse he goes off saying that the cayenne is making him cough even more while dealing with the acid reflux, I haven’t seen or read any testimonies of that being healed through the cleanse (do you know of any?). We are currently on our fourth day of the cleanse and I am trying to encourage him to continue on but I can tell he want’s to give up, this is the longest he has went. Have you heard or read of acid reflux being cured it is a disease.

After giving birth to my 2nd child I was not able to lose the weight I had gained, so when I got pregnant again with my 3rd child I tried not to gain all that extra weight.
After giving birth to the 3rd child I went back to the same weight I was before I had her. I was on the phone with my girlfriend and I was telling her how I wanted to go on a diet and she mentioned the Master Cleanse so she emailed me the info and I did it.
I did it for 11 days the first time and lost 20lb the only thing although I was watching what I ate I gained 5lbs in a month so I decided to go on it agian for the second time I am on my 5th day and I have lost a total of 8lbs so far. Hi Raylen I have been on the master cleanse for about 8 days now and I am planning on doing the 10 day flush. I have to admit the first 4 days for me was so difficult, I wanted to give up so many times but I held on. I must also admit that this is the best feeling I have had in a long time about my energy level. I feel so energetic and alive. I am overweight and I have been feeling so sluggish and now I am moving all over the place. Honestly, when I get off work I do nothing but, go home and sit down. I have not energy for anything else at first. Now I go shopping after work and I enjoy it again. I have not ordered your master cleanse secrets e-book as of yet but, I am planning to. Hi, day 6 of my first cleanse, day by day now on an original 7 day goal, so I don’t know whether I’ll go 10. Orange juice instead of the lemonade isn’t a driver to stop, but continued salt water flushes aren’t motivating! I convince myself it’s salty soup broth. I’ll just have to see how I feel. Asking God to give me dramatic cleansing effects to keep me going (no pressure, eh?)
No cravings during this time, but habits. I found out I was a real grazer, reaching for bits of this or that all day, cup of coffee , another cup, leftovers, etc. So it was interesting to learn that and recognize I wasn’t hungry when those thoughts occured this week. Also, amazing how much time can be occupied by food. Breakfast, lunch for the kids, talk to my wife during the day “what do you want for dinner?”, “What do we need from the store?”, cooking, eating, cleaning up. Alot of time on my hands I needed to fill to avoid boredom.
Also mood swings, I was really strongly depressed on Day 1. Not about the cleanse or food, about everything. I think it’s true that negative issues can clear with each day’s flush, that cleared through day 2. I thought I was getting a cold last night, but that seems to be gone now.
I’d have to say anyone who tries this even for a couple of days will learn something about their relationship with food as a minimum. A few more days just gets more interesting.

This is my second day on the cleanse and I have been drinking alot of the lemonade and water with the husk in the morning and the sea salts in the evening. However, I have yet to have a stool movement. Could please tell me how long the laxatives take because I am feeling very bloated at this time.

Hi Raylen. I tried doing this Master Cleanse, but I stopped after 2 days because it didn’t seem to work for me? I don’t know if I was doing something wrong or not. Even drinking the seasalt with water, I was expecting to use the bathroom within at least 1 hour and a half like said, but that didn’t even happen.

Hello Raylen, First off I’d like to say that I’m impressed at the good things that I’ve read about the Master Cleanse. I’m 52 years old and I think that this cleanser will do me a world of good. This body of mine has really racked up the toxins down through the years, and being a construction worker who works with dangerous chemicals, I know that my innards are packed with unhealty debris that has to come out. I am looking forward to doing the Master Cleanse, but I have a concern that I hope you can help me with. The job site at which I am working requires me to be outside all day, and it gets pretty warm. My question to you is, would I be in any danger doing the Master Cleanse and working outside in the heat all day?, especially since I won’t have any food in me to keep me going. The work that I do isn’t hard, but it is constant and I do need the energy to keep me going through the 8, 10, and sometimes 12 hours per day.

I’m a Personal Fitness Trainer and I did the cleanse for the sake of a few clients that were curious about it. I finihsed the Master Cleanse last week. The 11th day was Orange Juice and I never knew OJ could be so delicious and sweet. I went to the grocery store and spent 90% of my time and money on all produce. My body could not wait to get the veggies and fruits back in it. Your secret tips helped me succeed, otherwise it would have been a lot harder. It was a great cleanse and I’ll be doing it once a quarter and I’ve already recommended it to a few clients.

Having enjoyed quite some months of fancy wining and dining, I find myself, somewhat unsurprisingly, about 10 lbs heavier than I like to be. So… it is time to take matters in hand. Although I already have a copy of the Master Cleanser book, I downloaded your version just yesterday and am trying to channel my mind into preparedness for fasting. I have made an attempt at master cleansing before – some years ago – it was sabotaged when my then husband insisted on having friends to dinner in the middle of my fast…. what I remember, even more than the hunger, however, is the headache caused, I think, by caffeine withdrawal….. if you have any insight as to how that may be alleviated, it would bring me some pre-fasting relief and perhaps make me feel more comfortable about embarking on the fast which I now hope that I am about to begin.

I am very grateful for this website. All of my life I never had a problem with my weight until I went to college. Since I’ve been in school, I have gained over 40 pounds. I looked at myself a few mornings ago and decided its time for a change! Today will be day 1 for me so wish me luck!
Ola! I am starting the MC this Friday. I have the book, the stuff and I’m ready to go! I am about 150 lbs overweight and need a serious jump start to losing weight ( and of course cleansing!) I have been eating so good for so long and nothing is budging off me so I need this shock to my system to let it know I’m serious. I have fasted before by just drinking waters, so this is not new to me. I bet there’s a ton of toxins from those darn lean cusines I’ve been eatin!;) I will keep in touch on Monday – wish me luck!!
I am borderline diabetic but not using medication of any kind. I am wondering if I can substitute the Maple Syrup with Molasses.
I am concerned about the jump in my sugar level with this amount of Maple Syrup?

I read your blog, asking how to do the diet. There is a video you can watch on line. It is very simple. The video takes you to the grogery store to show you what items to buy. Then at home, just how simple it is to cut a couple of lemons, squeeze the juice. Measure 3 table spoons of lemon juice, 3 table spoon of maple syrup grade B. and a 1/8 tsp of cyanne pepper. Stir and drink.
I just finished the 10 day master cleanse and have not felt better in years. I found it to be easy. However I did a lot of research and preperation before I started. Reading different view points and ways to get through the ruff days. I bought the hoodia extract and added that to my lemonade. That might have made a difference. I did not experience savere hunger pains. I plan to do it again soon.
