I started the fast and lasted 54 hours but blew it by being near the refrigerator full of food. I will try it again tomorrow. I am 57 years old and I run a few times a week, does anyone know if this could be dangerous to over exercise while on the cleansing fast?

When you do the Master Cleanse a lot of waste that was previously trapt inside your body will be circulating around as the cleansing process starts to work.
This takes a toll on your body, and is a big reason you get aches and feel fatigued while doing the master cleanse. Doing vigorous exercise will only put more stress on your body.
I would avoid intense cardio workouts and weight lifting while doing the cleanse, especially if you’re doing it for 10+ days.
This doesn’t mean you should stay welded to the couch. It’s good to move around, just don’t push yourself too hard. I like to go for a walk or a light jog, do yoga, and ride my bike when I’m on the master cleanse.
Keep in mind that what one person considers an intense workout might be effortless to another. So if you’re a experienced runner going for a jog while you’re on the cleanse should be fine, but if you’re out of shape jogging might be too much for you to handle.
There is no one rule that fits every person when it comes to exercising and the master cleanse. Just remember to pay attention to your body, and don’t push yourself too hard.

Can I drink Traditional Medicnal tea during the cleans?
Question on the use of maple syrup. I find that using 2 tablespoons of the maple syrup in 8 or 10 ounces of water is too sweet. Can I reduce the amount of the maple syrup or increase the water; which is most beneficial?

Went on the MC roughly about a month ago. Did the days, + the coming off the diet routine. Only problem I had in the beginning – 1st day was the craving. Got over that. 2nd/3rd – started in on headaches. Took at least 2 days to get rid of the headaches. Afterward, all was fine and I continued on to complete the 10 days. Also did mild exercising without any problems. Got greedy afterward – started eating, not excessive, but put @5/10 pds back on. Good experience and the MC worked wonders for me! Will continue to do this 2/3 times a year. Good luck to all!
My one friend tried that Dual Action Cleanse and found it worked quite well. Hope this helps!
What foods can you eat while on the cleanse?
i am an avid rock climber, and cannot afford to break my training routine while doing the cleanse. i climb three or four days a week, indoors, and at various levels of intensity. it is generally not cardiovascular, and i can make the workouts less intense for 10 days, but i have a concern about getting enough protein to repair the muscle damage. any thoughts?
So far I’m on day 5 and feel and look fabulous! I keep in ck on whether or not its a craving or actual hunger and it’s mostly a big burger ‘talkin’ to me… heh. The most beautiful things I’m finding about this cleanse is the mental alertness and how sharp my mind is. I feel balanced and at peace and all around happier. I’m not putting pressure on myself to complete the 10 days because (and this is just because I know myself & how I operate) I don’t want to add any extra pressure on my self mentally or spiritually. I’m taking it one day at a time. I’m finding what’s been helping is reading inspirational books like ‘The Secret’ to keep me positive & motivated… I feel like I can literally move mountains right now! I am certainly incorporating this cleanse into my new lifestyle and way of living! All the best to everyone who’s trying it for the first time & for those who are still not certainly – it’s one of the best things I could have done for myself!

I am on day 17 of the master cleanse and have almost stopped losing weight, having lost only .2 lbs in the past two days. This is after haveing lost a minimum of .8 pounds for the first two weeks. I still have at least 7 pounds of excess fat on my small 5′ frame and am feeling that I may need to fast forever to get it off! I am feeling great and do not feel like breaking the cleanse at all at this point. I am walking up to 3 miles per day and doing some stretches, crunches and gentle yoga. Do you have any suggestions on how to rev up my metabolism, or if things will pick up again? Thank you.

A comedy diet called giga cleanse experiment was made based on a guy’s desire to prove whether he can be cleaner after a master cleanse. it’s pretty funny; he almost turns into a lemon
I’m considering doing the cleanse, but can’t refrain from exercise as I am a Fitness Instructor at a couple gyms and teach classes 5 days a week. Can I modify the cleanse or do it on the days where my schedule is lighter? What are the suggestions about how I can still do this?
Why would eating( for example: raw vegetables) ruin the master celanse?
Jessie, The master cleanse is supposed to detox and give your digestive system a break also. If you eat anything on the cleanse you won’t properly detox or get the full benefits of the cleanse. If the cleanse is too drastic for you, you might try going raw ( only raw fruits and vegies,nothing cooked) to see if that works for you.

Nearing the end of the first day……its amazing how good food smells right now…..wow this IS going to be tough…..tried it twice before and failed miserable both times. This time I hope I can keep up the strength.

Just finished my 2nd day and feeling very bloated and nt lost anything yet. I did MC last year for 11 days and lost weight during and even after i stopped. In addition i didn’t suffer any cramps for at least 4 months which was practically a miracle. I hope it works this time. Since then i’ve put on about 5 pounds which i want to get rid of plus get back to my fighting weight. Also the cramps are more severe than ever so i’m hoping this will help.
The cravings for food today were shocking and i actually had to leave the office after someone brought in a box of croissants. The rest of the week will be a struggle because of work functions that involve food and drink!!! Sigh… not sure what to do. I just need to lose this weight. Dn’t get why i haven’t lost anything yet though

It seems most of you are doing this to lose weight and thats not the purpose of the cleansing its only a welcomed side effect. You should do more research before doing something like this. Read the book or talk to someone who has. You’ll clean your body out but then fill it up again with the same unhealthy junk that made you overweight in the 1st place.
1st day of the MC diet and its not that bad yet. A little hungry but that’s nothing once I drink a glass of the lemonade. I am constantly thinking about food though. Everywhere I look I c a big yummy cheeseburger. I’ve lost 20 lbs before with regular exercising and healthy eating but since I’ve gained the weight back it seems harder to get into the swing of things. I’m 5’3 and currently weigh 230 lbs. I’m hoping to lose 30 lbs and cleanse my body of all the junk that it has accumalted for the 23 years that I have been living. In todays society I should weigh about 130 but I would neva want to get that slim. I loved my curvy voluptous body that I had a few years bac. Oh well keep ya posted! Good luck to all!

Today is my first day. I couldn’t do it. I wasn’t hungry at all but I had a terrible migrane and I stop in the hospital I was crying,screeming and vomiting I thought I would die so I had to eat some brown rice.
I hope to be able to do it again tomorrow.
I have migrane since I’m 6 year old. Someone can tell me if I will be able to do it without stop in the hospital?
I completed day 10 of the Master Cleanse! it is ever this you said it would be! I feel like a new person!
So I’m on day 10 of the master cleanse. I thought about quitting from my original goal of 15 days but I’m determined as I made a promise to myself so I’ll have to keep going to the finish line.
That being said. Already I feel much better than when I started. I was always having flem when I ate and feeling heavy and bloated but now that’s gone. There’s no question master cleanse works!
I’m on day 5 I’ve lost about 12 pounds, I’m noticing clarity of mind! From day 1-2 it was the most difficult, I crave food the most in the evenings, but it goes away with a nice guzzle of lemonade! I told my self I would do this for 22 days I guess I will see how fun this is next week! This is my first time on the cleanse and I feel so happy I did it! Weight loss is just the welcomed side affect as another poster put but this sure works a lot better than portion control or slim fast lol
Nearing the end of my second day on the MC! I lost 5 lbs. When I weighed in this morning. Crazy! Headaches and irritability are at a high. What’s real hard is making food for the kiddie and having to smell it all. My skin looks great. I’m excited to see the en result health wise. Has anyone bought the ebook Master cleanse Secrets? I have done a 21 day cleanse in january and 14 in february this year. I only revisited the cleanse again as i feel so much better when cleansing. I exercised while on both, basically 7 days a week, mainly cause i have so much energy and really wanted to exercise. My routine was swimming, and running, i would either swim 2km (55min) or run for 3 miles (30 min). The different level of cardio is the reason for the difference in my length of workout.
The tea and the salt water…. lots of different opinions on this. I don’t do either after the first few days. There are lots of different opinions on cleansing, i go by what works for me.
One thing to note is that i was not exactly healthy at the start of the cleanse, i had been eating better (dropped caffeine, processed sugar, most processed foods, pop, junk food and all sorts of other crap) after the 1st and 2nd cleanse last year, but the 3rd marked a big difference in what i gained from the experience. I started this one weighing 280 (i’m 6′ 5″ and have a goal of 225), and am now at 240 2 months later but i have basically done at least a half hour of cardio every day.
I only recently came off the 14 day cleanse, and am considering doing another 10 days as I don’t think i came off it right this time (this was my 4th cleanse). This is possibly the most important part of the deal. How to reintroduce food back into your diet. I find the best way to keep myself feeling as good as when i am cleansing was with only eating vegetarian home made soup, and fresh squeezed OJ and some fish. BUT, as soon as i eat something not in that realm, i find my mood changes and i feel sluggish and generally feel like crap….
It’s an odd experience once you have done it a few times as you become much more sensitive to the reactions the body has to food and what you ingest. I find myself wondering if i am using the cleanse as a baseline for my life, and trying to find the right combination of foods that will keep my energy and mood elevated at the cleanse level. I think i may try raw foods only and see if that keeps me at the consistent level.
think of the cleanse as a tool to clean your diet and cravings up, the real goal is how to keep living in a healthy way, and not fall back into old unhealthy eating habits.

The book states NO OTHER FOOD SHOULD BE TAKEN DURING THE FULL PERIOD OF THE DIET……… THIS is my 3rd time I have decided to do it once a year>>>>I feel great. this time no headache, just a little fatigue…..it is day 5 I am going outside for a walk in the park ……. best wishes folks
I’m about to graduate high school and head off to college. The past year has been very depressing since I gained forty pounds. I was the ideal size and was always complimented for my body, and suddenly I started pigging out everyday to make myself some sort of happy. Now I’m sitting here, at 155 lbs, and every day telling myself that tommorow will be the change. I have tried and failed at so many diets and plans and gained more weight than I started them with, but I am extremely determined in every other area. If I get my mind right, I know I can do this. My dad is getting what I need for the cleanse tommorow I hope, and I’ve been reading up on it so I know what rules to follow. I can’t buy the book, but I think everything that y’all have posted has helped. I’m going to try to do my P90x and Pilates workouts as much as possible; they’re routine now when I have the energy. I’m on day 1 of the Master Cleanse…I did the salt water flush this a.m and I’ll have to say it worked for me LOL. I’ve struggled so far only because I have my 3 year old home with me and well, he has to eat. On the upside, I am determined to stick wit it. I don’t like the tea at all! I drink it, unhappily. The lemonade I can tolerate, althought I want food and am surrounded by it..literally, there’s a Hardees across the street from me and a convenience store adjacent. Hi! Day 1 can be a little rough. I had a headache the whole day. The second day was much better I must say. I’m now on day 5 as of today, thank goodness. I didn’t think about food much during days 2-5 so that’s good. Also, my allergies are raging and my nose is stuffy so that was definitely an added plus! That tea really is not very tasty at all! It takes all I can to stomach it. Keep at it though. Once you make it through day 3, you’ve made it! I’m now planning for after the cleanse. I too have a 4 year old so that made things a little more difficult. Good luck M Will. Try to stay away from those restaurants.

Hey its the end of Day2..the Salt water flush hasnt helped me one bit..so tonight im trying the Tea..i honestly think the tea taste way better then the salt water..Day1 I had a headache, couldnt sleep and the smell of food was intense for me..i am 5’0 nd i weigh 155.2
im honestly doing the MC to see how much strength I have in mee and to hopefully do lose a few pounds..im happy where I do weigh nd I dont not look 155lbs at all.. so im doing this to prove myself and my family that I can stick to it and reached a goal of new confidence..

I’m starting the cleanse on Sunday. I know that one is supposed to drink 6-12 glasses of the lemonade a day, but are the tea and salt water flushes a mandatory part of the cleanse? I won’t mind physically doing it, but the practicality of the–um–”outcome” scares me. I am currently working in a temporary location while my office is being renovated, so unfortunately I don’t have the privilege of a personal bathroom. The thought of pooping all day at work makes me cringe

I started the MC this a.m and I hope I can stick to it. I am a stay at home mom with a 3 year old and a 15 month old so cooking for them is going to be tough. I am determined because I have not been able to drop any lbs since last summer and I gained a ton for my second child! I am 5’10″ and used to weigh 145 and we’ll leave it at that:( I am in need of a jumpstart to weight loss and in my past Atkins/South Beach has worked for me. Therefore that is my diet plan after the MC. I hope to lose 20lbs then I only have 20 more to go! Wish me luck:)

As a fellow mom of 3 children (2,6 & 9) and homeschooling them and being with them 24/7 making all sorts of meals I HEAR YOU! LOL I’ve been pregnant or nursing for so long (we practiced child led weaning) so haven’t done much fasting since before I conceived my oldest. My longest fast pre-kids was 23 days although I switched from the MC to vegetable juices half way through and did enemas with hydrogen peroxide (google that for more info). Anyhow, I never feel as good as I do when I am fasting, its pretty amazing. However I find that all of a sudden I wake up one morning and I just KNOW I have to fast…tomorrow is day 5 of the cleanse and although my husband has stepped up a bit over the weekend to help with the meals I’m just ‘in that zone’ you know? I know that ‘next week’ or whenever I come off the fast I will eat then…it’s not going anywhere, the food will still be there, just not today LOL I don’t fast for weight loss , in fact I hope I don’t lose anymore then about 5 lbs but for mental clarity
I started getting headaches again and I a few other complaints after I got a nasty flu bug a few months ago, I just don’t feel right. 4 days in and I am feeling SO much better…. I had to attend a birthday party 2 days ago and I have to say that although it was pretty tough (there was even lots of salads and fruits!!!) I held strong and just kept thinking – next week, next week I will eat wonderful fabulous foods!! but right now I choose not to, just a few more days I say in my head
I did have headaches and day 3 was the worst but I woke this morning feeling clear and calm, sooooo calm, veyr cool – no headache today either but you know I also did not do the tea or the salt flush because I was in a 3 hour karate class this morning and I couldn’t be sure I wouldn’t need to keep runnig to the bathroom. I suspect its the salt and tea that is giving me the headaches, I will know more tomorrow when I use them again as Monday I have no plans to be anywhere !
So I see you started on the 2nd…it’s the 14th today and I am not sure if you finished, but I hope you did ok. If it didn’t work out this time, keep tapping into your brain – it will tell you when you are ready and you will be stronger then ever!!!! there is also a yahoo master cleanse group with thousands of members on it – always helps to have support, espeically people like us that have little children that eat ALL THE TIME… its liek trying to quit smoking in a room full of smokers LOL hugs!
oh I should point out not only fruits at that party but burgers and chips and cake and amazingly wonderful smelling food and cocktails etc. Not that I partake in them often as I eat a pretty healthy diet, but once in awhile I do – so to pass it up was pretty awesome and empowering!!!
I am going to start the mc on May 24 so I have been reading up on anything that can help me complete the full ten days. I truly look forward to this experience and all the benefits from it. I am trying not to anticipate any problems or get any negative thoughts in my head, I simply keep talking about it and I also have been easing into it by going longer and longer without eating and drinking more. Hopefully, this will set me up for success. It has definitely helped reading about other’s experience and just getting as much information as possible. My goal is not only some weight loss, but clarity,detoxing the body,and just all that will come with this cleanse. I so look forward to this.

Hey I have been on the MC for 3 days now and so far I am doing ok. I don’t get very hungry and whenever I feel a little hungry I just drink the lemonade and I feel pretty full. I haven’t weighed myself since I started the diet but I feel like I haven’t seen much change yet. I’m not sure if I am losing any weight or not. The only thing I am doing is drinking the lemonade. I did not drink the tea or the salt water flush. has anyone else done the same and actually lost weight? I have tried many diets and working out for over 2 hrs 5 days a week and I still can’t lose much weight so I thought this would help me jumpstart my weight loss. are the any suggestion as to what I can do to get beret results? it’s only been 3 days so I’m not worries I guess I have to take it one day at a time and see how it goes.
I am 6 days in! I feel great. I do NOT flush daily, but every other day. I workout most days of the week and I am sooo energized. I get hungry, but I don’t have the desire to eat. I will fast longer than the 10days, I hope to go 30days. My goals is both detoxing and weight loss. I’ve hit a stable point with lossing though. My first 3 days I lost 8lbs. I haven’t lost since day 3 which can be frustrating, but I know that sometimes you hit a plateu and then all of a sudden BOOM..u drop pounds. I’m 5’8 162lbs (post pregnancy) and my goal is too over lose and gain 10lbs once I quit the fast. my dad complete 42 days MC and lost 54 lbs. He looked amazing, never fatigue and tired looking, he worked out most days while on the fast but regained afterwards because he went back to his crazy eating habits.
About 4 years ago I gained about 30 pounds. Then in February of 08′ I went on a low carbohydrate diet and lost 40 pounds by June without exercising so I am very “flabby”. Though I was slimmer, I still did not have the body that I want/wanted. I have always been bottom heavy, I’m 5’6 and a half and weigh 155 pounds. The top half of my body is thin, but flabby. My legs are also very muscular, yet flabby at the same time. Anyway, this year I put on about 10 pounds, but i haven’t been eating differently. When I noticed that i was gaining weight I began exercising (in february).I haven’t lost anything,and it is completely heartbreaking/frustrating. I never stopped my lowcarb diet, I’m assuming my body has grown used to it? Anyway, I’ve been reading into the master cleanse for acouple of months now and I;ve been planning on doing it forat least 2 weeks, however I wanted to wait until the endof june this way I won’tbe in the bathroom throughout the schoolday. My only fear is that I’ll lose waterweight and gain all of the weight back when I resume mynormal diet. Iunderstand that weight is lost faster the heavier a person is, at least it was for me, but now that I just want to lost 15 it has become extremely difficult, and I’m not sure if the master cleanse will give me good weight loss results…does anybody know if the weight loss on this is gained back easilly (evenif you’re eating healthyafterwards)? Can you take advil while on this diet? I would very much appreciate it if someone could answer these questions…. thank you.
