Master Cleanse Diet Side Effects

by Raylen on April 9, 2007

While on the master cleanse diet, many people experience unpleasant side effects which make their time on the cleanse uncomfortable. These side effects range from sore teeth and gums to fatigue and aches. A few tips can help you better deal with these side effects.

First, if you have trouble with tooth or gum sensitivity, try drinking the lemonade mixture through a straw. You might also rinse your mouth thoroughly with water after each glass of lemonade.

To combat tiredness and fatigue, try giving your body a break during the period of time you are dieting. While some may be able to continue their regular activities even while on the diet, some may find they cannot. Be aware of how your body is feeling. Don’t be ashamed if you have to take it easy for awhile.

To fight aches and pains associated with the process of detoxifying the body, try increasing your intake of water. This can help flush the toxins and poisons out of your body more quickly.

While there are some side effects associated with the master cleanse diet, the side effects can be dealt with. They do not necessarily signal a need to discontinue the diet.

First day of cleanse for me. Made dinner for husband and kids…kept busy and drank lemonade. Feel good and can not wait to lose some extra winter weight. Stay strong.

I am interested in doing the Master Cleanser diet. My only concern is this: I have joined a cycling club, and we go cycling every Saturday from 9am to 5pm. Is that kind of an activity okay when I am on the MC diet? If I take 3 days to plan starting today (Tuesday), then Saturday will be the second day of the diet. I will have access to a restroom, but of course its not going to be within my reach as and when I want it!! On the other hand, if I start tomorrow (Wed), Saturday would be the fourth day. What is advisable in this situation?

Does anyone know if it is important to be passing anything other than liquid while on the cleanse? I’m on day 3 and there is basically nothing coming out but liquid. Should I keep going or does this mean there might not be anything solid to come out?

I’m on Day 7 of the cleanse. Lost 17 pounds (thrilled!) Feeling great except for a horrible sore throat and swollen glands. Is this due to the release of toxins? It’s been bad for 48 hours now…any suggestions?
Thanks

I am on day 3 of master cleanse..have not had any of the side effects yet…no crazy hunger pangs or cravings either. Did the saltwater flush, but nothing seems to come out but water. The first 2 days I could not drink the entire quart, today however, I did. I kind of expected more to happen by now though. I followed the directions to a “T”. Hope I’m doing it right, I’m really hoping for max benefits. Any one else feeling that way?

I’ve read about people drinking peppermint tea to help the “odor issues”…Why/What kind of odor issues are going to happen? And is it ok to chew gum or mints?
