Hello, I hope you’re all doing well.
There’s been lots of good feed back on this blog. It’s nice to read about your experiences with the master cleanse, and your comments have prompted the writing of todays newsletter.
It’s about the side effects of the master cleanse.
When you do the master cleanse you’re almost certainly going experience some side effects. Your body will be going through a major detox, and it’s going to affect you.
Fatigue, aches, and headaches are the most common, but each persons experience is unique.
There are some things you can do to lesson the negative effects of the master cleanse, but before I get that I think it’s important to restate the advice I give in my master cleanse guide….
—————————————————————————————
Always pay attention to your body, and don’t be afraid to stop in the middle of the Master Cleanse if you start to feel any adverse effects. Remember, the goal is good health, and you should not jeopardize your current health in the obtainment of that goal.
—————————————————————————————
I know how hard it can be to stop in the middle of the cleanse when you’ve got yourself pumped up to finish it through, but if you’re not comfortable with how you feel sometimes it’s the best thing to do.
But to help lesson those uncomfortable feeling you can follow these 3 tips…
1. Take it easy while on the cleanse. You want to avoid physically demanding activities and stressful activates. The master cleanse does take a toll on your body, and you won’t have the strength and energy you normally do so you’ll want to take it easy.
2. Drink lots of filtered water. You can drink your fill of water, but it’s important you drink filtered water. Tap water and bottled water contain chemicals, and the master cleanse is all about detoxing your body not putting toxic material back into your body.
To save on filtered water you can use a home filtration system like the aquasana that which gives you filtered water for just 9 cents a gallon. Here’s a link to the aquasana web site www.aquasana.com
3. Make sure your adding enough maple syrup and lemon. The master cleanse ingredients provide your body with nutrition and it’s important that you don’t leave anything out or skimp on certain items.
Following these steps should help lesson the side effects of the master cleanse, but please remember not to push your body to hard.
I hope this helps makes your master cleanse experience a little more pleasurable

WOW, Chani – I don’t know about all that, but you have just scared the crap out of me seeing as that I am on day 2 and fighting a headeache and general fatigue. I won’t be able to get through it if that is what is coming.. I would go see a doctor if I were you.
Okay this is day two. My headache is easing up. I’m not doing this for the cleaning. I wonder what does it feel like to be clean. Packing all this junk over the yrs……..ewwwwww I saw some of it and and it ain’t pretty.
Hello – I am considering starting this in a couple of days – anyone tried this lately?
I’m on Day 3-when I weighed first thing this morning, I had lost 4 lbs. after 2 days on MC. I was very pleased with this since I’m 5′4″ and weighed 126 to begin with. I have a very petite frame and my comfortable weight is 108-115. When I put on more I start to feel pain in my joints and other issues. I hope to lose 10 lbs. Day 1- I drank only 4-10 oz servings of the lemonade and the rest in water. The water has been no issue for me because I drink about 2 liters a day anyway. However, I did not do the salt water on Day 1. Day 2-I followed exactly-drank 6-10 oz. servings, lots of water throughout the day, and the 35 oz. of salt water ONLY before bed. For me, I would not attempt this at any other time during the day. I was running to the bathroom many times from 8-midnight. I did have very back headaches Day 1, 2 and a little today…but is getting better. I am pretty stubborn and have some will power, so I intend to stick with it. Will keep you posted.
I am on Day 7 of the MC and I feel great. I have done this fast many times before and it works well. I would not recommend it for dieting, or even for detoxing, for more than 10-14 days, especially if you are not significantly overweight. I think one of the most important things you can do is drink plenty of water in addition to this; however, if you feel chilled, you may be drinking too much. Drinking the water will take care of the headaches. I’ve not had a single headache this time around. I’ve not felt fatigued or dizzy either. I found that the amount of cayenne recommended was too much for me, so I cut it down to 1/8 t. for a two-day portion and it seems to work fine and be easier to drink. I recommend you not exercise too vigorously on this fast unless you work out at least 5 days a week in a gym. Even then, you might want to cut down, just to allow your body to use it’s energy to cleanse and to get what might be some much-needed rest.
