Managing The Master Cleanse Side Effects

by Raylen on December 12, 2006

Hello, I hope you’re all doing well.

There’s been lots of good feed back on this blog. It’s nice to read about your experiences with the master cleanse, and your comments have prompted the writing of todays newsletter.

It’s about the side effects of the master cleanse.

When you do the master cleanse you’re almost certainly going experience some side effects. Your body will be going through a major detox, and it’s going to affect you.

Fatigue, aches, and headaches are the most common, but each persons experience is unique.

There are some things you can do to lesson the negative effects of the master cleanse, but before I get that I think it’s important to restate the advice I give in my master cleanse guide….

—————————————————————————————
Always pay attention to your body, and don’t be afraid to stop in the middle of the Master Cleanse if you start to feel any adverse effects. Remember, the goal is good health, and you should not jeopardize your current health in the obtainment of that goal.
—————————————————————————————

I know how hard it can be to stop in the middle of the cleanse when you’ve got yourself pumped up to finish it through, but if you’re not comfortable with how you feel sometimes it’s the best thing to do.

But to help lesson those uncomfortable feeling you can follow these 3 tips…

1. Take it easy while on the cleanse. You want to avoid physically demanding activities and stressful activates. The master cleanse does take a toll on your body, and you won’t have the strength and energy you normally do so you’ll want to take it easy.

2. Drink lots of filtered water. You can drink your fill of water, but it’s important you drink filtered water. Tap water and bottled water contain chemicals, and the master cleanse is all about detoxing your body not putting toxic material back into your body.

To save on filtered water you can use a home filtration system like the aquasana that which gives you filtered water for just 9 cents a gallon. Here’s a link to the aquasana web site www.aquasana.com

3. Make sure your adding enough maple syrup and lemon. The master cleanse ingredients provide your body with nutrition and it’s important that you don’t leave anything out or skimp on certain items.

Following these steps should help lesson the side effects of the master cleanse, but please remember not to push your body to hard.

I hope this helps makes your master cleanse experience a little more pleasurable

Hi, this is the second time I’ve done the master cleanse. The last time i did it was about a year ago and made it to 12 days. I wanted to do it longer but i started feeling emotional and lost my will power to do it for more days. On the second day of coming off the cleanse i felt very emotional and suicidal until i ate some beef then i felt fine. i know it sounds really weird. during the cleanse i had a lot of detox symptoms from headaches, to a very large cyst on my forehead and a green fuzzy tongue. I guess i was pretty toxic. I decided to do the cleanse again now and I’m on day 8. On day 6 i started feeling really depressed and today I’m starting to feel like i want to walk out in front of a car, it’s a weird feeling i have no reason to feel this way and it seems to happen when i do the cleanse, is this a detox symptom or should i quit? if it’s a form of detoxing i want to get threw it but I’m worried it might be a sign of being depleted or something. Also this time around i’m having very few detox symptoms nothing as major as the first time i did it.

I just started the MC today and I’ve only been able to drink about 4 glasses, is that ok? I know that the book says to drink anywhere from 6 to 12 glasses. What are your thoughts?

Hi! I just wanted to share that this is only the beginning of day 2 for me and 4lbs are gone. I love the taste of the drink, salt water isn’t fun but manageable, I haven’t felt hungry but just the idea of a grape sounds awesome! I’ll make it just fine though! I can’t wait. I’m so curious what my body will do now after reading all of this. Best of luck to you all!

Hi,
This message is directed to Diamond. This is my second time to doing the cleanse. this first time i stayed on it for 12 days and lost 15 pounds and felt great. the first 3 days were tough, but it’s mental. this 2nd time around i haven’t had side effects accept the white tongue. i use the laxative tea instead of the salt water. I didn’t have an immediate bm after the salt water like was said to have happened. i don’t eat anything during the cleanse, just drink the lemon mixture and water(i have filtered at home) come of the cleanse like the directions say, easy. I did gain about 5 lbs back, the rest i kept off for a while until i strayed from my eating plan too long. this works just stick with it.

This message is for Sam (102). The suicidal feelings may be from parasites; at some point during your mc, you can incorporate a parasite cleanse, but that might br too harsh. You can do a parasite cleanse once you start eating again.

How frequently can you do the Master Cleanse? I am on day 10 and coming off after today but wanted to do it again in a few weeks.

I’ve tried the cleanse several times and could never get pass day 2 but I’ve followed through this time and I’m on day 4 and I feel great only I’ve started my cycle and feel extremely bloated w cramps wondering should I discontinue the cleanse? Also I don’t use the cayenne pepper as I should is this a hindrance PLEASE SOMEONE ANSWER

Home4us9 July 15, 2009 at 10:25 am

Poor planning…I hope you don’t discontinue the cleanse…but a woman’s cycle CAN be a major distraction. I specifically planned that I would not have my cycle be such a distraction during the 10 days…THAT & all the other adjustments, I thought, would just be toooooo much. That said, I suggest that you DEFINITIVELY include the cayenne pepper in your lemonade…I don’t see how you are killing your appetite without it…and you need the hoodia in each measure of drink you are going to consume right away. I make the recipe by the gallon, so that I’m always ready for the next glass. Also, I haven’t heard anyone suggest that bottle (I use the smartwater bottle because it’s cute.) by bottle…I place mine in the freezer to get that wonderful, childhood SLUSHIE/ICEE effect to my lemonade. I like what another comment said…using limes & lemons (equal measurements), instead of just lemons. Peppermint tea provides a LOT of restraint for me…and I’m sleeping so much better than before I begun the cleanse. I have yet to try sitting in a sauna for a few minutes…but, I’m looking forward to it. I think you will do okay, if you continue to add new elements that are safe, and as I said before DISTRACTING away from your discomforts. Next time…plan, plan…PLAN for your success! Happy cleansing.

Raylen;
Raylen…I’ve GOT to know??????? Are you male or female??? I can’t tell by your dialogs & narratives. PLEASE ANSWER. A picture would be nice. ALSO…I have questions???? about your “affiliate” marketing of the MC program info., you publish…I have inquiries…PLEASE email asap???? thanks…
I’m sooo mad at myself for being way too busy to properly document all of this wonderful success. I believe I’ve lost about 9 pounds already and I’m only on day 6…I keep getting my day count mixed up. I wish I could email the lady who lost 100 pounds already and has a wonderful oatmeal cookie recipe. I suggest Stevia as a sugar substitute when completing the cleanse. I’m looking SO forward to healthier eating all around when I’m done with the cleanse. Also, I’m noticing with many of the blog comments…people are not doing all of the reading they should. I’m suggesting to anyone I recommend this cleanse to…to READ, READ, READ ALL of the materials that Raylen offers. In order to really get ALL of the benefits, and prevent many of the side effects…one has to be knowledgeable…and that takes READING; COMPREHENSION; studying the body; healthy/healthier foods; etc…BEFORE THE CLEANSE. Also, thanks for the alkaline vs. acidic info…I would have panicked about the prospect of hemorrhoidal flareup/irritation if not for that info!!!! Thanks Raylen

Been trying to get an answer.

If I do this clense, can I still work or will I be in the “potty” all day?

Sabrina Rodriguez July 17, 2009 at 3:42 pm

I would recommend NOT doing this with your partner. TWO grumpy people are not good. LOL
* message to person not doing the cleanse:
be aware of how difficult it is to be on this. It would be KIND avoid making smelly delicious foods for that week in front of your significant other… ;-)

Hallo,
Thank you for information on side effects of this diet. I started the diet this morning, and in the afternoon I had a splitting head ache. For a couple of hours I ignored it but it did not go away, so thanks everyone for sharing your experiences this is helpful. Thanks for sharing, I was almost about to give up.On the positive side, I liked the way I did not feel hungry, its amazing. I will keep going, I plan to do the 10 days and hope to lose at least a few pounds. Thanks everyone.
Francis

hi,
I haven’t started on the MC yet but an seriously considering it. However, I’m concerned with some of the side effects — I am a migrane patient and have metal in my head (causes headaches as well). I also have hypo glycemic symptoms when I don’t eat frequently. I also have an extremely stressful job….So, should I do this or am I putting myself at risk?? I am extremely tired and fatigued all the time and need to lose 15 lbs. so I thought it was time to cleanse my body from all the prior abuse. Please reply to passion82balive with your advise and opinions. Please help !!! I need to do something !

Hey everyone, I have a question..it’s a little personal and gross but what should your stool look like, mine has only been very watery and yellow. Is this normal? I am only on day 2 of the cleanse.

Jewls August 24, 2009 at 1:09 pm

I am considering starting this cleanse after seeing my cousins amazing results. My question is, is it ok to do this cleanse having just 1 kidney? I had my right kidney removed 2 years ago due to a cancerous tumor growing on my kidney. I am not left with just my left kidney and wanted to know if doing this cleanse would put too much strain on my kidney…or if on the contrary it would be better to, since it will clean all the toxins from my organs? Anyone have advice on this matter. I am a 28 year old female, 5′8 250lbs.

jedoubles September 16, 2009 at 6:29 am

ok..i am going to ask the obvious …LOL..i made a batch this a.m. and it’s my first day. I followed the recipe..but all i taste is the pepper….is this how it’s suppose to taste? i was expecting more lemonade…flavor..any other experiences about the taste would be helpful..maybe i’ve done it wrong…
thanks

Jess

Ouch.

This is my first experience with MC. I’m on Day 2 and with some terrible intermittent kidney pain (left). What will ease this pain and when will it STOP?

Annmarie October 7, 2009 at 7:51 pm

I’m not sure if the MC would be good for me, I would like to try it if only for three days.I’m 37 and my issue is that i’ve had a heart attack two years ago after having my third daughter and i’m on medication. My concerns are that the cleanse might affect my heart in some way but i really need to lose the 15 lbs that i’ve put on . Another reason for the cleanse would be to remove what is causing me to be tired all the time and help me figure out why my period is coming every two weeks for the last couple of months.
