Gas On The Master Cleanse
Oct 17th, 2007 by Raylen
It’s one of those things that can happen when you do the Master Cleanse that nobody likes talking about. Flatulence, or gas, also called farting. It’s a perfectly normal bodily function, but as one reader mentioned in the comment below it can happen a little more then usual when you go on the Master Cleanse.
I tried the master cleanse for 5 days and my fellow employees surprised me for my birthday. I went off after eating the meal. I had lost 7 lbs. at that point and was highly upset because I was feeling GREAT! The following week, I tried it again for only 3 days. OK, I had to go off again. I developed a very bad case of gas I think. My sides were hurting so badly it was almost unbearable. Would someone comment on this? Is this a side effect? However, I made it through the day. I continue to drink a lot of water, I am watching my portions and looking forward to the next time when I can successfully complete the master cleanse. I cannot believe what it does.
Thank you!
To answer the question, having a little more gas then usual is common when you do the cleanse. As for the aching sides that’s no so common. I would suggest lying down as soon as you feel the soreness start to set in, and do some deep breathing to try and relax the core of your body.
For more tips on how to finish the master cleanse I put together a list of things you should do before you even start the cleanse to get yourself in a positive frame of mind. You can find that at tips for finishing the master cleanse diet

I am seriously considering this program to cleanse myself. I’m going to consider the weight loss a benefit. I never once read whether one can continue to take their prescription meds. Would the cleansing ‘wipe out’ the ‘benefits’ of the prescription meds? Only 2..one for high blood pressure/irregular heart beat. The other for pain..chronic…would be Xtremely difficult to withdraw from this med. Please inform me asap. Thank you. Sincerely, Biting at the bit
