Day 7: Zen State Of Mind

by Raylen on January 7, 2009

One of my favorite authors, Stuart Wilde, who’s written some of my favorite books on meditation and personal development talks about eating a reduced diet as a way to calm your mind and open up your senses. After 7 days on the Master Cleanse I can tell you it works.

I went for a walk in the park today and the sights, sounds, and smells were richer and more alive then ever. Entering this Zen like state is my favorite part of doing the Master Cleanse. I find it’s the perfect time to sit back and access your life, or deal with problems that have been weighing heavily on your mind.

If you’ve ever thought about starting a dream diary now would be a good time. You might be surprised at what bubbles up from your subconscious mind.

Talk tomorrow.

Hey still hanging in there! Just completed Day 7. Lost 1.2 lbs so am almost at my goal. I’ve lost 9.2 lbs and my goal is 10lbs. Feeling good! This is the easiest MC I’ve been on and I’ve done probably 6 of them. The reason is the phyllium husk powder, that bulk in you stomach really helps so you don’t get hungry and the wheatgrass too. I add 2 drinks of each to the program. And getting alot better results with the colon cleaning using phyllium too. I do the salt flush first thing in the morning and the laxative tea at night. Is anyone else going to write in? It sure would be nice to hear how some others are doing. There was over 100 that wrote in at the start saying they were goiing to do this, WHERE ARE ALL OF YOU?

Thanks for the note on helping distract from hunger. Today is day 6 for me and I was hungriest and most tired today. I did the 10 day cleanse last year and I don’t remember it being as hard as this time. Is that common- for those of you who have done this multiple times? I am praying tomorrow will be a little easier.

Day 4 for me and all is going well. I do have food cravings but they only appear between the hours of 4-7pm. This is the time I normally get my daughter an afternoon snack and start making dinner. Last night I dreamt I ate a large, ooey, gooey, chocolate chip cookie. It was wonderful! But I was upset with myself for ruining my detox. I was very relieved when I woke to find out it was only a dream :-) . I don’t know if I will be able to last the full 10 days. I just keep taking it one day at a time and go from there. So far I have to say it’s been a breeze, I hope it stays that way. I’m down 4lbs in 4 days with no side effects at all (headaches, pains etc). I’ve noticed my skin is clear and I’m sleeping like a rock.

Today is my day 6, I became aware of the Zen state of mind I’ve been in on day 5. It is amazing. I have been writing, setting up personal goals, enjoying nature and meditating.
I’m really loving and enjoying the MC!

Day five for me and I am calm and centered. At work, I’m more efficient and the little things don’t seem to bother me like they used to. I had cravings today for potato chips, but know that because it’s always been my go-to junk food. Only 5 days more to go. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings!

I am on day 6, but was planning on doing a 14 day cleanse. Everyone else who has commented said they were only doing 10 days. I have read that you can go as long as 45 days (a little insane? maybe….) and was wondering what you all thought. Also is there anyone else on the cleanse that has any experience with eating disorders? I have anorexia/bulima but have been in recovery for some time. I have been cautious about dieting, but felt ill after all the over indulging this past holiday season. Any info would be appreciated. Thnx.

Today is my second day and it was so much better than yesterday. I had a headache most of the day yesterday and was very grumpy by the time I got home. But today I woke up not only rested by happy even though I only slept about 5 hours! I plan to stay with it until Saturday but who knows maybe I can do the full 10 days.

I’m back …. wrapping up day 8 actually, I didnt see that the blog for day 8 has been posted … anywho … I feel great as I always do after the 3rd or 4th day. I am down 18 pounds! WoooHooo … 23 days to go …. this will be my longest cleanse. I have only done the lemonade drink and water, I was not aware of the psyllum and wheatgrass options but I am ok with just the lemonade, water and tea … I do however have a cup of decaf lemon tea every morning just for the warmth … surprisingly I dont miss my 2 cups of coffee …

Great luck to you all!

Hello,

I have been interested in starting this for a long time and downloaded the book this morning. I am starting my 3 day prep on Saturday. Reading your book I think I am a perfect candidate for the cleanse. I am 27 years old 5′2″ and have been athletic my whole life until the last 2 years. I feel tired a lot of the time. I crave junk foods and sweets. I over eat at meal times and I weigh 135 lbs and could stand to loose 20lbs. I know that everyone is different but what is the average weight loss for someone like me doing the 10 day cleanse and the 3 day prep? Thanks.

Tracey

I am on day 7. I read everyones comments, I just don’t write anything. So, we are out there. This is my third time and I enjoy it. I like reading what others write. We are all here~!

Help I started the MC and am just finishing day 7. I am following it to the “T” and have lost 8 lbs but get this I have NOT had a bowel movement. ( sorry for being graphic). I noticed some people say they use psyllium. Can we really do this? I am really concerned now that I realize I am only eliminating water. Again apologies for graphic language, but I am now confused.
thanks

Today is my 8th day. First time MCer. The first 2 days were a little rough – headaches all day long. But by the evening of 2nd day it subsided and as it did my right ear felt like the inside ear wax was about to come out! Weird. It didn’t but it sure felt that way. The first day I craved a greasy slice of pepperoni pizza. But I just imagined a big green leafy salad in front of me and asked myself “Still hungry?” Nope! So it was a craving and not really hunger. Went to a ballgame on day 6 and being the cheese-lover that I am, I was very surprised to see that the cheese soaked nachos that were being eaten around me didn’t phase me one bit. I did start to think about all the unhealthy, sugar-loaded food we put in our bodies. It’s funny to see there was this one young kid with a very large portion of ice cream in a big mug-like container and he finished all of it. I kept thinking, wow, our stomachs aren’t THAT big! I can’t believe how much food we consume just because it’s in front of us, not because we’re really hungry but because it’s just there.

Funny thing is on Day 5 my sister was telling me about what she had cooked for breakfast, bought for lunch, and cooked for dinner. Having food on my mind, I sat down and made a list of things I’d like to eat when I get off the MC. After I finished my list, of about 15-20 dishes/meals I started laughing. Who is this person? Everything I listed was completely healthy. Cucumber salad, whole wheat flatbread with oven-roasted tomatoes and basil, spinach salad with feta and dried cranberries. I astonished myself. I went out on Day 7 and bought several healthy cooking cookbooks and 2 Vegetarian ones. I have absolutely no cravings for red meat anymore. I read in another blog how your body cleanses itself of these unhealthy food addictions and makes us crave the good stuff, nuts, fruits, vegetables, berries. I guess I’m at that stage. I’m spreading the word on the MC to friends/co-workers and so far 4 have joined. Haven’t checked in on them yet but I told them to read up on what you may feel during the MC so as not to get discouraged and quit. It’s VERY MUCH WORTH IT.

Cindy June 2, 2009 at 5:30 pm

Since I’ve started the MC, I’ve slept COMPLETELY through the night. I never realized how much I toss and turn during the night. I don’t wake up groggy or hitting the snooze multiple times like before. It’s like as soon as I open my eyes, I am ready to hop out of bed and get going. I’ve never had so much energy! Yet another positive benefit, not to mention the weight loss. I wasn’t going into the MC for weight loss but for the health benefits so I didn’t even bother to weigh myself. I do regret not weighing myself in the beginning. I highly recommend it. It’s so nice to see when I sit down all I see are boobs and no protruding belly! I can actually see my lap again. Haven’t seen her in a long while! I just keep thinking about the good I’m doing for my heart and organs and let’s talk about self-esteem!
