How The Lemonade Diet Works

by Raylen on March 31, 2008

Health fads come and go but the master cleanse or lemonade diet as it’s also called isn’t a fad. In fact, it’s been around for more than 5 decades quietly providing relief to anyone who’s willing to give up a few days days of food. Fasting has been around for centuries, but the lemonade diet is not your typical fast. You will be consuming calories, just not from solid food.

The lemonade diet will detoxify and cleanse your body from years of chronic abuse, and it also works to promote good health in the future.

To get the full cleansing effect it’s best to stay on the lemonade diet for 10 days and it’s always best if you repeat 3 to 4 times a year. If 10 days sounds like more then you can handle don’t worry, even 3 days on the diet can give some amazing results.

Some critics say you’re starving yourself on the lemonade diet – they’re wrong. Like I said earlier it’s not like a typical fast where you’re not taking in any calories to fuel your body. The ingredient in the lemon drink provide you with plenty of vitamins, minerals, and calories so you won’t be putting yourself at risk by depriving your body of the vital things it needs to function.

Here’s how it works…

You’ll drink one glass of lemonade made from the ingredients listed below in the morning and then 6 to 12 more throughout the day when you get hungry. In the morning, you’ll also drink a glass of salt water and at night, you’ll have a cup of Senna tea. How do each of these ingredients work?

  • Fresh lemon — it is a loosening and cleansing agent, a tonic to the liver, stimulates bile, cleanses the intestine, cures digestive order, aides in the elimination of the bowels, it destroys intestinal worms, eliminates gas. The lemon is high in Vitamin C but it also has A, E, B, Folic Acid, Niacin, and all the necessary minerals.
  • Grade B Maple Syrup — protects the heart, boost the immune system. It is an excellent source of manganese and zinc. It’s also your main source of calories.
  • Cayenne Pepper — soothes the digestive tract, promotes circulation, relieve gastrointestinal disorders such as cramping. Cayenne is high in Vitamin A, and it also contains Vitamin C, B, K, manganese, and dietary fiber.
  • Water — reduces hunger, flushes toxins out of the body. Make sure you use filtered water because tap water is filled with chemicals and other waste that will sabotage your detoxing efforts. This is the water filter I use
  • Saltwater — works as a laxative from the top of the plumbing down. It thoroughly cleanses the digestive track and the salt scrubs the intestine walls. It will kick in 30 to 60 minutes after you drink it.
  • Senna Tea or Other Laxative Tea — will help the bowels to eliminate.

Combined these ingredients not only cleanse your digestive tract, they will also remove toxins and mucous from your body, cleanse the kidneys, cleanse the glands and the body’s cells, relieve pressure and irritation from the arteries, nerves, and blood vessels, and create healthy blood.

You may experience detox symptoms that will last at least until the majority of toxins are removed. Cravings, tiredness, irritability, hot bowel movements and headache can happen. They will shall pass, so don’t be too alarmed.

Over the years your body has been exposed to all kinds of toxins — pesticides sprayed on your food, chlorine in the drinking water, hormones and antibiotics in the meat, pollution in the air we breathe, chemicals in the soaps and lotions we use, and the list could go on. Our body does it’s best to rid the body of these toxins but over time it simply cannot keep up and without detoxifying these toxins can lead to cancer, heart disease, arthritis, excess weight and even obesity, mental fugue, a weak immune system, and the list goes on.

Detoxifying with the lemonade diet gives your body a new lease on life. You’ll feel younger, and healthier. You’ll be more energized, and you are at less risk of serious illness.

If you’re interested in trying the lemonade diet for your self my book has helped 1000′s of people, including doctors, get through the diet. This link will tell you all about it!

I am able to drink the lemonade drink fine and I am doing fine with not eating. Not feeling any aches or pains. But my head will hurt sometimes. But I did sometimes get headaches before I started this. If someone can please help me. I want to make sure that this is working.

Good luck to you!! My husband is currently doing the cleanse. He is completing his day 5. I’ve done the cleanse before. For me, day 1 was OK. Day 2 was the hardest. I felt sooooo sick with headache and so tired. I stuck to it though. I felt better on day 3. I know it’s hard, but you feel great if you can just get past thouse first couple days!

I am on my third day. The first day was the hardest for me, had headaches and was very tired, The second day was fine and now on my third day, I have a little headache. I’ve preparing for this diet for a long time so my suggestion to those ho want to start on it is – do mark on the calendar the day you are starting so your mind become prepared; do prepare a few meals and freeze them for your loved ones as this you decrease the amount you spend in the kitchen; stop drinking coffee at least a week beforehand; go for nature walks and plan how you are going to get out of the diet as you need to do it slowly…. So far, i found that i have more time to do other things simply because i am not thinking about what am i going to eat next….. Cheers all and good luck.

hey all… i’m on my first day today…. i wish those good luck who are starting today aswell… i have done fasting before and i would like to share my secret into not thinking about food… if you are lucky like me and not working at the moment (just had two throat op’s) ..get out of the house.. or don’t go near the places where there is food…try doing some simple sit ups or ust go for a walk around the back yard..if you live in apartments.. use the fire stairs and walk up and down a few times and try beating the numbers next time..just remember that a craving only last for 15 mins… and its all in your brain..

I have done the lemonade before and it’s great. Yes, you do lose weight and look younger. I will be 47-year-old on 15 Jan. Everybody tells me that I look so much younger. I don’t like new year resolution because they are hard to stick to, so I started the Lemonade diet on 27 Dec 2008. This is day six for me. I still workout while on the diet and carryout my regular routine. The only things about any diet is not being able to eat certain food or not eating at all on the Lemonade diet that make a person wants to eat. Hang in there I know each and every one of you can do it. If you can only do it for three to five days that is still great.

michele January 6, 2009 at 7:13 pm

I’m on my second day, and it is going pretty good right know I have been working out, I am hoping to see big results. I just hope I don’t gain any back.

agnes January 17, 2009 at 9:09 am

how do i start, and what is the reciepe for the salt water

Mike February 5, 2009 at 2:37 pm

I am on day four and I have a bit of a problem. I haven’t “passed” anything since day 2. I do the SWF and I just retain it. I drink the lax tea at night too. I read that i should add more salt, so I did and nothing happened. The problem is that the salt water is extremely bad for your body when you retain it. I am a male 6’1 180 lbs and I have maintained a healthy diet and worked out daily for about 3 years. Could the problem just be that I am not backed up? I’m not trying to lose weight, I am just doing the cleanse for it’s health benefits, but if I am not passing anything, should I even continue? Any help would be amazing. Hope everyone has an awesome rest of the week. Thanks

Paul February 6, 2009 at 4:57 pm

I am in the same situation as Mike from Post 18. I’ve followed the diet to a T, and I have only “past” a little this morning, and nothing else since Day 2. I too have been eating healthy and have been running/working out for 3 years. When I drank the salt water (Day 1 and Day 3) i past very little waste, mostly clear fluid.. Also My legs/arms feel extremely week, I dont think they are recovering form my daily workouts/run… Please help!

Hi all… I’m only on my second day. Yesterday wasn’t too bad at all. I expected it to be harder. I did as the instructions indicated and completed my first day with no side affects. Today, I’m having a bit of a problem. I have this slight headache that won’t go away. I have to sit here at work and it’s getting hard to look at the screen. Also, my neck and back have been hurting too. I’m sure I’ll get over it. Another thing that I’ve noticed is that I’m cold all the time now, so what I’ve done to change that is I warm up a glass of water and have that after drinking my lemonade. That is helping so far. I’m determined on doing this cleanse, for one I have to two kids who I plan to be there for many years and two my asthma is getting worse and I hope this cleanse will help reduce the episodes.
Good luck to all and I’ll write back with my updates.
Kudos to you all!!!!!

You mentioned that you use organice lemon juice; where do you find that at? or can you use frozen lemonade? I’ve heard people say they’ve used regular fresh squeeze lemons or lime. What’s the best method for the authenticated lemonade diet?

Letitia February 18, 2009 at 1:02 pm

Also I purchased you secret manuals. Good stuff! thanks for sharing. I appreciate all the tips. My daughter and I plan on kicking this diet full throttle. And I think we will ease into it, it makes sense.

HeleninFLA March 20, 2009 at 1:14 pm

What I’m going to do is a fast for just one day.
I read that you can begin anytime, say….7pm to 7pm.
OR…8am to 8am….whatever.
But do remember NOT to ‘run’ for the food when you’re done with the fast. You don’t want to ‘shock’ the life out of your heart! By doing the fast one day, say…every two weeks, then it will be much easier to handle if I decide to go with a few more added days. Will let you know of the results.

Hi

I started with the Lemonade yesterday. My mixture was wrong yesterday and I felt hungry. Today is supposedly my second but I am fine. I didn’t know about the salt water, how do I do that. Wish me luck. M really hoping to lose weight as I have been struggling for quite a while now.

Thanks
Pamela

I am on my first day, and I feel lightheaded, not hungry at all. My wife started as well, unfortunately she can not drink the recommended laxative tea at night, she is allergic to any kind of tea. So I came up with a creative idea for that, I told her to take a laxative in a capsule, and drink warm water with lemon. Genuius..LOL But we are both well on our way to loosing the unwanted pounds and removing all those unwanted toxins!!! Wish us luck!!!

I am starting the cleanse today. yeah. well I am looking for all advise from those with experience, anything to help me along the way. I did have problems with drinking the salt water? Thats a rough job. I am in this for of course some weight loss but mostly for the spritual aspect of cleansing and purify my body. I do some yoga and I am a vegeratian, so I am hoping that the displine there will help me along the way also. ANY ADVISE
