There’s been some debate recently about which is better, juicing or blending?

Juicing has been popular with health seekers for decades. But many people are retiring their juicers and replacing them with blenders.

They’re both great for taking large servings of fruits, vegetables, and other healthy foods and turning them into an easy to consume liquid. But which is better?

Lets take a look at the specific benefits of both juicing and blending…

Benefits of Juicing:

Benefits of Blending:

For me personally, I prefer blending. My Blendtec blender does an amazing job of liquifying everything I put in it, so my smoothies are easy to drink, and packed with fiber. I still juice once in a while, but if I had to pick one, I would pick blending.

Here’s a helpful video that might help you decide.

3 Reasons To Use Powdered Greens For Juicing

If prepping loads of fruits and veggies, and dealing with the cleanup sounds like a pain – powdered greens might work better for you. Just mix a scoop of green powder with water or juice and you can get most of the health benefits you get from fresh juice.

If you travel, or would enjoy making yourself a healthy drink at work, powdered greens are a better choice than juicing and blending for three reasons:

1) Convenience. Carrying a blender or juicers, and a bushel of fruits and vegetables is not practical

2) Fresh juice and smoothies spoil fast. You can take powdered greens with you and whenever you feel like making yourself a healthy drink, just add liquid and you’re set.

3) It’s cheaper. There’s no expensive device to buy. And a serving of powdered greens costs less than $1 a serving. You can easily spend 4 or 5 times more on fresh juice and smoothies.

  1. This is a novice explanation of juicing vs blending. You don’t juice peaches and fleshy fruits first off. Doesn’t even talk about micronutrients and how your body processes them. There is nothing healthier than having a slow masticating juicer and using it properly to get those micronutrients absorbed into your body. The juicer in the video is not a very good juicer but if you at least use it once or more a week then it’s better than nothing. If you have to chew your juice you are not getting all the benefits. When you need fiber you should be eating good whole foods like black beans, split peas, and lentils are the highest in fiber but even raspberries, pears, and blackberries are great. When you juice, micronutrients are ready for your body to absorb and use right away where as too if you only eat whole foods or have to chew your body has to go to work breaking down the foods to get these vitamins. In the process they pass thru your body before it is even full absorbed and broken down. That’s why eating whole foods is best for fiber. Your body is just like the juicer where it grabs all the really good stuff and makes it easily accessible to be absorbed then all the fiber to push the rest out of your back end! Lol! My auger style juicer makes the most amazing tasting juice and when you use items like green apple, kale, spinach, cucumber, carrots, and beats topped off with a dash of cinnamon I never need coffee or and energy drink to keep me going all day! I do have and use a VItamix which I use for making soups, salsa, and the best margaritas (oops) when I’m taking a break. =)

  2. I already did the 10 day Master clense,
But i’m trying to do it again but the maple suripanta it’s hard to find in México and to expencive, can it be substitud. Can you help me?

  3. I have ordered a Blendtec – and it will be delivered in a few days – I cant wait to start using it ! The soup option is what I am most excited to try … especially with the cooler weather right now. I’ll be back to add an update. Char

  4. I think that while we certainly need our fiber and blending is a great way to get it, we also, at times, need the pure nutrition WITHOUT digestion that juicing gives us. If someone is very ill or has something that needs fixing, juicing is the way to go. For maintenance, blending is probably best.

  5. The juicer you mention is not a quality juicer. It runs too fast and has the effect of adding centrifugal force and heat to the process. The process actually reduces nutrient efficacy. The same goes for a blender.

Check out GreenStar and Norwalk juicers.

This article doesn’t really address any of the science involved. This is more like “helpful hints for the homemaker”. I suggest a modicum of actual research.

  6. Bout crazy about the blender at all . I follow eat right for your blood type and too much fiber makes me bloat. I love the way spinach kale celery beets apple fennel taste from a juicer and to drink it blended gags me lol I will stay with juicing and when I need fiber there is always that beautiful Bosch Pear!

  7. This is a big topic of conversation in my life right now. I have a friend who is insisting that although fiber is important and you need it, you need to absorb all of the nutrients from juicing when trying to releive health issues. Any views on this?

  8. I have a Blendtec, and it really does work MUCH better if you have more food in it. I make green smoothies all the time, and I use apples, citris, grapes, frozen fruit, (any combination of fruits) and lots of greens. When you have a blender that is at least half full or more, it blends so completely smooth, you won’t find any lumps. I can’t imagine trying to blend just a frozen banana!! I even blend a carrot with it, and again, there are no lumps.
