I’ve been reading through the comments and it looks like some of you are having trouble tracking down grade B maple syrup. It might not seem like a big deal to substitute regular commercial brand maple syrup, but it actually is. The refinement process for comercial syrup strips it of its minerals, and while you’re on the Master Cleanse it’s important that your body gets the vital nutrition that grade B maple syrup provides.
If you can’t find grade B maple syrup my advice would be to try your local health food store. You can also check your regular grocery store, but be sure to check the product labels yourself because most store employees probably won’t no the difference between grade B maple syrup and regular maple syrup.
If you still can’t find any grade B maple syrup you can always order some online. The link below will take you to Amazon.com which sells grade B maple syrup, and offers speedy shipping. You an also do a Google search for “grade B maple syrup” which turns up a few sites selling grade B maple syrup.
PS. It looks like I’m going to go on a Spring Master Cleanse some time next week. I’m open to starting any time, if there’s a specific day you would like to kick this thing off let me know.

Does Maple syrup Grade A suitable for Diabetics?
My friend is worried about it. Does anyone can answer my question?
Okay well I’m 15 years old and I weigh 145.6 pounds I’ve tried exercise and it works but not as fast as I want it to I’ve started exercising for about a month and a half and I’ve lost 11 pounds but gained 6lbs back and it just won’t cut it nobody knows I’m dieting not even family or friends I just wanna surprise them but I don’t know if it’s good for me! Should I try it? Oh and do they sell grade b mayple syrup at winco?
Is maple syrup suitable for diabetics?
Thanks!
I wanted to know if marple syrup grabe A is okay, since the guide always says grade B?? Also to day is my third day and I gained weight is that possible??? I lost 2lbs yesterday and when I wweighed myself I had gained the 2 plus 3 extra lbs…help…I was trying to go for 10days, but I might have to go for more than that…
Grade B is recommended by the dietician that created this diet because it is more nutrient rich and does not go through a refinement process that depletes the vitamins you need during the cleanse. You can find Grade B maple syrup online… I did. I buy mine from this site called TheLemonadeSite.com. They have master cleanse kits and a whole bunch of other products for this diet. Hope that helped!
For those of you who say they are at a plateau;
You need to up the pace, you say you are feeling
great and walking and exercising then you need to
change up. Try a different exercise or walk more or
start yoga or something totally different than your
routine. You will see instant results once you change
up. I promise. Unless there is something medically
wrong with you, there will be results. Change it
up people……in the know………pattie
Unfortunately, for people like myself who are military and living overseas, many places will not ship food items to APO or FPO addresses. So, I am stuck with Grade A.
The question I have for this detoxing system is ,considering that Black Strap Molasses has an abundently more amount of minerals by far than , a Grade B Maple Syurp , couldnt someone substitute the two ingredients and get even a better result?
I would suggest doing the “Master Cleanse” not as a weight loss method but more as a hey i’m going to start eating healthier and before i can do that fully. i need to get out the “bad stuff” out and start anew. if you do the cleanse and go right back to eating fast food you will gain the weight and more back from doing so.
I completed my Day-10 of the Master Cleanse four days ago. I did it to learn good and new eating habits. I am happy I completed the whole 10 days. It was not easy, of course. The first 2 days were really tough, almost all of the side effects mentioned here were on me. However, things started to get easier from Day 3 onwards. To my surprise though, day 8 was very very tough. Just one side effect–hunger pains, solid food cravings …I just kept drinking the lemonade juice and occupied myself by doing some house cleaning, before I knew it the day was over. I feel very good with myself, definately lighter in the midsection where I had a nasty bulge. I am currently wearing pants I had not worn for almost a year. I have not weighed myself to see how much I lost, since that was not my goal. But I definately feel lighter and very very happy with myself. One big positive after the Master Cleanse is that my cravings for junk/unhealthy foods have decreased and nearly gone. This program or diet may be tough to do, but IT REALLY WORKS. Thanks everyone.
as one who has helped with maple syrup production, i would have to disagree that there is any difference in the way grade a and grade b are processed.
the grading is in color only. there are some additional minerals in the darker grade b, and even more so in the very rich grade c, but the temperature that day and when in the season the syrup is produced determine the color, and thus the grade.
sorry if i am contradicting anyone, and please let me know if you have personal experience that is different than mine.
hi,i leave in bahrain and i want to do master cleanse to lose weight but maple syrup is not available ,is there anything i can use as subtitute or is it possible for me to mix other available ingredients only?my second question is can i still do master cleanse after using colon cleanse for a month?i will really appreciate your honest response.
thanks
NO! if you are a diabetic do not eat maple syrup and expect your blood sugar to stay good. it will shoot up!
3 Questions:
Do medications affect the cleansing process? (adderrall)
Do tobacco products affect it?
Are Multivitamins allowed?
Blackstrap Molasses does indeed contain much more minerals and nutrients than maple syrup. I question the scientific basis of this lemonade diet.
No one is giving concrete information as to what is a safe alternative for maple syrup. I am no a diabetic, type II, and I love doing the Master Cleanser Diet. I have been doing it for over 10 years. I stopped doing it last year, and I have now been diagnosed with diabetes. I was much healthier, and felt great. Please tell me what I can use. I just read that Agave is not good. I also need something that will give me energy like the grade B maple syrup did. Thank you.
Sorry for the typo, I am NOW a diabetic, type II.
Where can i get the maple b in south africa? i live near Johannesburg
Im glad to see so many people actually DOING the Master cleanse diet. By the way, I’ve been using grade A syrup. They syrups are the same.
I’ve been going at it for 7 days now. Im still in the same clothes. They actually fit now & I lost 7lbs!!! I havent been working out only because the book suggested I should reserve my energy. But I have found that I have MORE energy now than I’ve had in the last 2 years.
I’ve signed up for the YMCA and I start my workout plan tonight.
My skin is brighter, I’m less irritable, and the salt-water flush, though gross, is quite beneficial. I love the Cleanse. I’d recommend it to anyone and I think I will do the Master Cleanse my whole life.
? Good Luck to Everyone ?

This is day 3 on the master cleanse for me and I am doing it for to clean the toxins out of my system and for weight loss. I lost 7lbs in 3 days and I feel great about that. My plans are to continue for 40 days. Has anyone did it for that long and if so what were your results?
I’m repeating a previous comment but while maple syrup have a more balanced sugar profile than other sugar sources like corn syrup and of course has many more nutrients, it is still sugar! If you are diabetic you should be careful with this. I run a website where you can find good grade b maple syrup.
I started the lemonade diet two days ago. I have only had some minor discomfort. I weighed 340 lbs when I started and today I weighed myself and I am down to 334 lbs. I made it in a gallon jug but have not done any of the cleasing, sea salts or tea. So far I have only had 1 1/2 bowel movements. That is a big change for me. I usually have one or two a day. I have to go some where later so I will get the other items to see if that increases my weigh loss. Many of you have the same questions so I added the website I found above that answers all of them. What about diebetic, what about mollasses or agave and some others. Read the testimonials. Good luck everyone. By the way at 340 lbs I eat a lot and everyday. So if I can do it so can you.
One more thing I forgot to say. Since I have tried to make it a gallon at a time I thing I got the math right but I want to say it tastes teribble. But it will be worth it.
In the State of New York, it is no longer legal to use the words “Grade B” on syrup. Apparently Vermont sued, and we can only put “Grade A” on that type of syrup, and now have to put “Dark Amber” or “For Cooking” on what use to be called Grade B. If your doing the Master Cleanse, your body really needs the minerals and nutrients in Grade B that are filtered out in Grade A. I have spent much time going to every Health food store in Chelsea, Union Square, and The VIllage, and learned this by and employee at Whole Foods on Union Square South. I hope this information helps. If you find one that does not have a Grade, and is DArker or Amber in color, and is more expensive it is probably Grade B.
ok so I have looked everywhere for grade b maple syrup and I can not find it I dont do the buying online thing due to past experinces, and I’ve never tasted molasses I heard it was awful, so I was wondering if it is ok to use grade a I have read the ingredients on both of them and there’s not very much of a difference, so is it ok to use grade a? will it affect my cleanse in bad way please help
thank you
if you are diabetic blackstrap molasses is a good substitute for maple syrup. it is made from the sugar of beets or sugar cane and does not cause rapid and dangerous rise in blood sugar levels. it’s also PACKED with far more nutrients than maple syrup. I’m not diabetic but I am using the molasses instead.
I am currently on my 8th day and all I can say is wow. I didn’t do if for the weight loss so much as to cleanse my system and press the reset button on healthy eating habits. I started weighing 218 (I’m six feet tall) and have lost a miraculous 18 pounds! I thought it was interesting what that one person wrote about it being hard on the 8 day. I have to agree. I don’t know if it’s psychological, (as if one week is some sort of barrier) but I miss chewing. But I can’t beat the weight loss.
I am 32 years old. My mom has been doing Stanley Burrogh’s master cleanse since the eighties. I’ve been doing it for 2 years. I do it for my mental clarity (I like to know who’s the captain of the ship) and for vanity to be totally truthful. If you do it properly you will not lose more weight than you are meant to. Sorry guys, we’re not all meant to look like Brangelina. It is NOT a weight loss cleanse but is a cleanse for health and it is not as good for you as doing a juice diet or eating healthy consistently, you will also lose weight if you do that too. It changes your metabolism so that if you decide to consume in excess post cleanse or eat the wrong foods, you will be unhealthy and gain weight again even faster. I personally don’t think you should be doing this cleanse unless you have an extreme health issue or you are over 30 and/or want to avoid Cancer. Try being vegan or a raw foodist, having juice and exercising. Learn about food combining and get tested for food allergies also.
If you are going to do this cleanse please google master cleanse pdf and read Stanley’s details. It’s a bit outdated in tone, but still applies and verrry important. All the best to everyone’s health. G
OK – I’ve read what I think is the original master cleanse document – – and the guy says that grade B is prefferable, but grade A is also acceptable. I’m not sure why this rumour has gotten out about grade A being totally unsuitable… perhaps people are trying to sell shit? I’m in Australia, so grade A is all I can get.
Anyway, I’m on my 3rd day – haven’t had any crazy hunger pangs yet… I just drink the lemonade when I’m hungry. I will say that the first night/second morning I felt like death – bad aches and pains, nausea, photosensitive… But after I had the salt water flush I passed this really weird mucous type stuff – kinda looked like chicken skin (sorry for the graphic description) and now I feel fine. I’m not suffering from any loss of energy, though I am taking it easy.
I’m hoping to do the cleanse for at least 14 days, with 3 to ease myself into eating solids again. I think how you come off is probably the most important part – because if you gorge on crap it’ll all be for nought.
where can i get grade b maple syrup from in stockton, ca…plz guide
I would like to know where in the Cape (South Africa) I could find the golden syrup replacement for diabetics. Years ago I got a bottle of syrup at a health shop but have never been able to find the product after using up that bottle. It was very expensive then, but I wold gladly pay for another because the tase was that of golden syrup and such a change for us who also love sweet things (natural). Thank you so much – look forward to hearing from you.
is it bad if i eat food while drinking the recomended ingredients? and if so will i gain weight? the reason that im doing this is that i heard it helps you get fuller faster and so im trying to cut down on how much i eat. please let me know, thanks
I’m on day 2 of the Master Cleanse. No weight loss as of yet but then that’s not why I’m doing it…..well, not entirely. I will welcome the weight loss as an added bonus but really I just want to clean out my system and hit the reset button on my everyday eating habits. I have been a vegetarian for over a year now but recently witnessed myself falling into some very lazy and dangerous vegetarian habits. Basically, just eating what ever is convenient which tends to be processed foods and high calorie snacks instead of the wide variety of vegetables, fruits, leguems and grains that I have been eating. My goal is to come out of this clear headed, eating healthier and maybe a few pounds lighter.
The hunger seems to be coming on and off. I did my salt water flush at night which appears to not be a good time to do it. I am hoping that once I do it first thing in the morning I will feel a little better and not quite so bloated.
Why must you use Grade B maple syrup instead of Grade A?
Just wondering what difference it makes.
You can buy Grade B at Trader Joe’s
Trader Joe’s carries Grade B maple syrup…. and at much better prices than most other places.
I have now been “Living” on this stuff for 5 days.
I have read elsewhere that the Salt Water treatment is not such a good idea and unnecessary, and that’s fine by me.
Initially had problems with the taste but got over it by knocking the pepper back separately in a small glass of water. After that the lemonade is quite nice.
No hunger problems at all.
I was 243 lbs and I’m not at 233.
For me this is the incentive to carry on with a more sensible lifestyle.
I would recommend it to anyone, subject to the usual exceptions, diabetes, health problems etc.
By the way, I cheat so I’m probably not getting the full benefit, but not eating is just soooo boooooring!
does pure maples syrup grade A work???? can somone please answer that??? please.

My 4th day on the MC. My knees aches- but I feel great today ^^
After the Firts 2 days it’s not that hard anymore…
I used syrup grade A first – because I only could find A and C. But now mixed both . Today I want to go buy some seasalt and try to find some grade B syrup.
can organic raw blue agave syrup be a replavement for grade b syrup?
First day of cleanse. Have a lot to lose. Current weight 156.5 I am 5’6. Need to lose 30lbs so any weight loss will help. I did not have real lemons so I used RealLemon juice and grade A syrup. I made a 60 oz pitcher of the lemon concoction and tried the salt water cleanse this morning. They weren’t kidding about the salt, I was in the bathroom 3 times within a half hour after taking. The lemon juice tastes good but I did use a concentrate. I forgot to drink water but I’ll do better tmrw. I also found a chocolate senna laxative tea. Can’t wait to try it. I’ll keep everyone posted. Hoping to go 10 days
Day 1
