Keeping Your Colon Clean

by Raylen on July 6, 2007

Lifestyle changes, such as a new way of eating, can be a great way to get and keep your colon clean. There are a variety of foods you can eat that will help cleanse your colon. However, there are also some foods and activities you will want to avoid while cleansing your colon.

Your colon cleansing diet should include plenty of foods high in both soluble and insoluble fiber. These fibers help keep food moving through the digestive tract as well as encourage the growth of good bacteria. Good sources of fiber include fruits and vegetables, whole grain breads, oats, seeds and nuts. Foods containing chlorophyll are also good for the digestive tract. These foods include things such as alfalfa and barley.

You should also drink plenty of water while on a colon cleansing diet.

Along with things you should eat while trying to cleanse your colon, there are also some foods you should avoid. These foods include fast food, junk food and foods that have been highly processed. You should also cut out smoking and limit your alcohol intake.

A colon cleansing diet is an excellent way to get and keep your colon clean. This type of diet can improve the health of your colon and your overall health.
