Dear Raylen,I wanted to get to you personally about my question……I bought Dr Burrough’s book in January of 2008 and immediately went on line and found your attachment and 109 page supportive info. I bought that online for $27 as well. It was without a doubt the most important element in the diet. I use it all the time and refer it. In February of 2008 I lost about 25-28 lbs using the diet and I do a sacrifice thing during Lent anyway and it is not hard for me…..I did the diet 2-3 times during the 2008 calender year but mostly for maintenance and not as strict as I did it initially. I am 6′, now age 55 and my weight will fluctuate between 190 to as high as 217/220….it never should be that high but on 2 occassions before I do the diet like I just did in 2009 (Lent) I relax and sometimes I will endulge a little because of stress. This last Lent (ending April 12, 2009) I went from 217 to 189 but I went for 15 days…….I love the diet….it is always initially challenging but I like the discipline thing and I love how I feel during and after……….My blood pressure in 2008 went down considerably (I AM NOT ON BLOOD PRESSURE MEDICINES NOR HAVE I EVER BEEN) and my colesteral went from 239 to 150. My personal physician, who is also my good friend called me and asked me for the diet which I gave to him………and the credits go on and on……………..NOW, here is my question…..I have developed gall stones. I went to the Cleveland Clinic and saw a specialist who told me NOT to take out the Gall Bladder. I prefer not to do that…….This happened to me where I had attacks. You throw up and dry heave. I have only had 3 total attacks. One happened to me right before my 2009 Lenten sacrifice. That is how I found out it was my gall bladder. The 2 attacks I had were 2-3 months apart. I did go on the Diet on February 22nd, 2009 (the Sunday before Ash Wed) and came off Easter Saturday (April 11th, 2009). I had no Gall bladder attacks at all during Lent, began eating freely after Lent, and about 7 days after Lent ended I had a horroble gall stone attack that is induced by eating fatty foods like peanuts or cream sauces which I did the day prior……….I can handle the short term pain but what I want to ask you (that is why I provided the history) is my youngest brother is an ER physician. He is not a proponent of weight loss like this but accepts this about me but indicated to me that part of the gall bladder problem is caused by sudden weight loss………..I have not checked with my physician at the Cleveland Clinic yet but I wanted your input since I love this form of self control and diet…..I am an ex-athlete but still run and walk and my weight today is 198…..I will get it to 185-189 in the following months. Have you heard or do you know if I could do organ damage with this diet? That is concerning to me……I have never felt better as when I am on the diet. I am scheduling a scope (for the gall bladder) and a regular colonoscomy (just because of my age)…..Do you have any input that will ease my mind. Please let me know……..That is a great piece you did for the Burrough’s book. It really adds to the importance and is much more explanatory…….Sincerely,George F. Joseph Jr.

Hi – I ordered a master cleanse kit from Amazon and received the package yesterday. however, there is no information on the cleanse at all! No how to or thank you for ordering. The box simply contains the ingredients. Is that right?

maritoni April 30, 2009 at 2:30 am

Hi! I’m actually very interested in the master cleanse but I have some concerns which are: I have diabetes (wouldn’t the maple syrup shoot up my sugar sky high?Although I read that blackstrap molasses can be used by diabetics instead but that’s still sugar isn’t it? ) high blood pressure (wouldn’t the salt water flush affect it since salt is bad for blood pressure?) and gastritis (my gastritis acts up when I’m hungry, taking liquids alone doesn’t fill up my stomach and the lemon & cayenne pepper might make it worse. I read somewhere that it caused acid reflux on someone. What are the foods that one is allowed to eat? Do you know of anyone who has successfully done the master cleanse despite any of these illnesses? Would really appreciate your reply.

hi, i have one question… is it okay to chew gum on the master cleanse?? i’ve found that chewing gum helps me take my mind off of food… if this is ok, is there a cetain gum i should go for??

cynthia boswell May 20, 2009 at 6:51 am

I have an allergy for citrus. I have used the lemonade for a couple times by day 2 I am itching and have to stop. Is there a way to do this without the lemon juice? I like the results I have gotten; but don’t want to end up at the allergist.

Sabrina Drake June 12, 2009 at 8:48 am

Hello! I started the Master Cleanse today and I have a few questions. Is it ok to chew gum while on this? Also, the Cayenne pepper is really strong. Is it possible to use less or get the pepper some other place like a pill or something? One other thing do you have to use fresh Lemon juice or can you use the pre bottled stuff?

Janice June 27, 2009 at 9:43 am

I would like to know if I can order the program through the mail, I don’t have a printer at this time, therefore it would not make sense for me to download all this information! Please contact me ASAP, because I am anxious to begin the program! Thanks.

Omarchy July 10, 2009 at 11:47 am

Hey Raylen my name is Omarchy. I absolutely love what I read, unfortunately well, fortunately haha (you will see when I tell you) I would out I was 2 monthes pregnant. I would love to try the master cleanse, however I cannot now. If I can have a refund only for about 7 monthes (because I am defintiely buying it again after the pregnancy) I’m so sorry and I feel extremely horrible :(

deepest apologies

Caitlin July 11, 2009 at 2:19 pm

was wondering if, for the Master Cleanse, you HAVE to drink the lemonade as directed? Is it okay to just eat my two spoonfuls of maple syrup, and then drink the lemonade and water together and do the cayenne as a separate “shot”? The recipe kind of grosses me out. I love lemon water, and spoonfuls of maple syrup are not problem, and I can bare a cayenne shot I suppose.

I’m just wondering if this will compromise the effects of the Master Cleanse?

cenaida July 17, 2009 at 10:16 am

Zoe July 28, 2009 at 3:52 am

hi am about start the cleanse tomorrow, am i supposed to fast smoking too?

Glenna July 29, 2009 at 3:53 pm

I am on Day 2.

It’s been a very emotional couple of days at work and home and I really want to cheat for some comfort food. Would this be so terrible? Is it the detox that’s making me weepy or more likely other issues?

mel August 6, 2009 at 10:16 am

We are on day 4 of the cleanse and my boyfriend has started to pass foam what is that?

Karina August 10, 2009 at 8:21 pm

Hi! I am doing the master cleanse but I don’t like the way the pepper burns my throat. My friend says that she took a shot of the pepper and that was easier. Is that okay to do? Let me know at vlasssad@cocmast.net

Julie August 11, 2009 at 7:02 am

I began the MC yesterday Aug 10, and have already failed. I need to know what went wrong. I did as instructed, began with the sea salt laxitive, but immediately I was nauses. I made it through that began the lemonade drink, consumed appx. 4 or 5 glasses and 6 or more glasses of water. By 2 o’clock in the afternoon, I had the worst headache, ever, I was so sick to my stomach that just the thought of taking another drink of anything, even water, made me sick to my stomach. Is this a normal reaction. Did I do something wrong. I followed the receipe exactly as instructed and I didn’t eat anything. I stopped with drinking anything after 5, I just couldn’t do it anymore. Very sick, I was hot then cold and I really tryed to hang in there but couldn’t. What happened! What went wrong?

Meg August 12, 2009 at 2:04 pm

Hi, I’m on day 6 of the master cleanse, and today I have extreme heartburn. I’ve had it for over 5 hours now and I’ve started throwing up, 3 times now, and the last time there was a little blood in my mucus. Has anyone experienced this before, or have any suggestions? I’m thinking of breaking the cleanse and starting on the OJ.

Hannah August 17, 2009 at 4:18 pm

I bought some organic maple syurp for the master cleanse, but i just found out its grade A not grade B. Can i Still use it or not?

becky August 20, 2009 at 11:18 am

is it ok to eat protein while on the cleanse? if so what are the best things to eat while cleanseing?

valerie August 23, 2009 at 12:53 pm

Hi, this question is for the Master Cleanse author. I started the cleanse diet in March “09″ I like many others had a hard time getting past the salt water drink. Yes It made me quisey but I found it was I drank it too slow. I found the best way to drink it is to gulp it through at least 15 to 17 gulps at once, rest about 10 min, and finish off the rest, also important, don’t drink it cold, nor too warm, it has to be slightly under refrigerater temp and just above room temp. Accomplish this by adding just a few cubes of ice. Anyway, I went on the diet for 18 days to lose weight. I had a doctors apt. in April, just routine and was told that my blood pressure was very high. I’ve never in my life had high blood pressure! I’ve been blessed with good health. I thought the cleanse would make me even healthier. During the apt. blood test were ordered, the results were astonishing. My cholestoral was sky high, and the salt content was rediculous. I was upset because I could only atribute the content of salt to the diet. I’m not a big salt eater as far as my normal diet is concerned. I followed the diet to the letter! I had head aches, dizziness and other symptoms that simply weren’t normal for me at all. My concern is the salt liquid intake. Is it really safe. I know the book said the sea salt runs right through you. The drink did cause me to eliminate within 20 min, in fact every 20 min for about an hour and a half. That was cool, it didn’t bother me at all. The elimination I expected but the high blood pressure I did not. What can be done to improve this problem, for I find that it is only high when I practice the diet. I’ve tried the smoothe move tea. It too worked great, but elimination wasn’t as much. What do I do, I want to start the diet again. Oh, by the way, I lost 16 lbs in 18 days. Excellent for me because I’ve weighed the same 210 lbs for 15 years. I was excited for the loss, but again, depressed for the rise in blood pressure and colesterol. HELP!

Anita August 27, 2009 at 1:01 pm

hello I would like to know what happens to you if you mix caffeine and dairy products while you are on the master cleaner. I need to know what do the ingredents do to you. please help me with this information. My mother would like to try it too.+

Margaret Hess September 2, 2009 at 10:23 pm

I ordered the ebook and pamphlets in order to read them before recommending them to a friend. I have done the master cleanse some years ago for a week with no ill effects (I took a tablespoon of colloidal clay each day and that may have helped) and I lost 8 lbs as I recall. Thank you for your information and committment to healing, prevention and wellness for others.

I hate reading off the computer though and will print out all the pages so I would have preferred to buy a printed book to begin with. I guess publishing costs are prohibitive but I would prefer to have paid for a book.

Victoria September 19, 2009 at 5:53 pm

I have a chronic sinus problem and my blood pressure is elevated. I am not on any medication for these, even though my doctor wants me to take medication for the high blood pressure.

Will doing the Master Cleanse help me?

Yolanda December 2, 2009 at 9:15 am

Can the actual book Master Cleanse Secrets be ordered and not downloaded?

Amy December 3, 2009 at 11:03 am

cayenne pepper helps break up the mucus in your body, you can get the book at Amazon and if you are doing the MC correctly you should have NO dairy or caffeine! The point is to not eat or drink anything but water, the lemonade, and some decaf herbal teas! And if you get sick with headaches it is your body reacting to the release of toxins in your body, sometimes especially in the beginning it happens quickly and your energy levels go up and down and you feel sick, It will pass. But nausea is probably because the salt water is just gross, but listen to your body as well. I was pregnant and didn’t know and I could tell my body did not want me to fast and so I quit and sure enough I found out a few weeks later I was prego!

Lisa December 6, 2009 at 9:22 am

Dear Raylen,
I was just wondering exactly which hoodia product you recommend. When I click on the hoodiathin link from your book it brings me to hoodiachaser. There is also a hoodiathin so i am not sure which one you think is best. The hoodiachaser is 400mg for two full droppers and the hoodiathin is 250ml/dosage. If you could tell me which one is best that would be great. Thanks.

Should I exercise while doing the master Cleanse?

Amanda December 11, 2009 at 7:53 pm

I have been on the cleanse for 4 days now. I have used smooth move and the psyillum husk, using one twice a day. I have only had 5 bowel movements since I started this cleanse. I’m not sure what I am doing wrong and/or if I should stop the cleanse. My bowel movements are still solid. Please Help!

Sarah January 4, 2010 at 7:50 am

Is it really a huge deal to have a small cup of coffee in the morning while on the cleanse? Also, I keep reading conflicting reports on the grade of maple syrup used…I realize grade B is the best case scenario, but I thought grade A would be ok?
Please advise. Txs

sharon January 5, 2010 at 5:34 am

I’m currently taking medicine that requires me to eat, because I have been diagnosed with being anemic. I take my meds in the morning and I fix me a piece of toast to take with them. My iron and b12 levels or very, very low. Do I need the do the master cleanse diet.

Kate January 6, 2010 at 1:16 am

Is the Master Cleanse still safe if you have no gallbladder, meaning you have free floating bile in your stomach?

Kate January 6, 2010 at 1:17 am

Is the Master Cleanse still safe if you have no gallbladder, meaning you have free floating bile in your stomach? I have done it twice before but want to make sure i am not doing any damage!

suzy January 10, 2010 at 4:53 am

Two Questions:

Why Grade B maple syrup?… I have pure grade A. medium from Ohio. I will use it, as I have a gallon of it. It is pure… what is the difference?
AND.
Do you have experience with alcoholism, and if so, what effects are to be expected with the master cleanse?

I will pay for and read your book, but first I would like an answer to both of my questions. I know you have an answer for the first question. However, if you don’t have experience with the second question, would you at least find out what you can? I would appreciate it greatly.

Thank you.

Suzy

suzy January 10, 2010 at 5:32 am

I’m wondering how come I’m not seeing ANY answers for these questions. I can understand that you want us to read your book, yet here is the forum, and we have questions.

Please post answers, Raylen… I will answer some that I have knowledge of, but I know I don’t have all the answers myself.

I do know that filtered water is necessary, and that you need to have Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice, not the concentrate, and that Cayenne Pepper is for speeding up your metabolism. If you can’t stand the heat, go buy a capsule version of it. You can find it in a health food store, or just google it, and you’ll find it. You CAN drink lemonade (FRESH) and take the supplement of Cayenne.

Another thing: When you fast, you DO NOT exercise. LAY LOW. You may feel sick. That is the Cleanse at work. I do not know what to tell you other than LISTEN to your body. I still have not tried this cleanse, but I have fasted with water and juice. It’s good to know what to expect. Do some research. And yes, smoking and alcohol is not good during this, and that is something I worry about too, but I know that I shouldn’t do. And as to psyllium husk… just drink MORE water, because yes, it will make your BMs way more solid… but that’s ok, because it will move the stuff out, and that’s what you want it to do.

If you have a LOT of weight to lose, it seems like you would want to do this full on, but I saw the question from George F. Joseph Jr., and this makes me wonder how this cleanse affects the organs, especially the gall bladder. ANY answer on this? This and diabetes should be consulted with a doctor, and alcoholism, except that no one, including me, would want to ask this. But your doctor is the best one to answer this. Talk to an MD Doctor. Important.

Otherwise, as George asked of you, Raylen, do you have any information that will ease our wondering minds? Even if you just send an answer to me, and maybe only you send answers personally, please do send answers. What you may not know, you can certainly find out, and more people would buy your book, because I would recommend it to everyone I knew, knowing that you were the person that could help me figure it all out, and you could help more people (who would also buy your book…)

Just a thought.

Thank you.

Suzy

Hi. I am planning to start the master cleanse, but I want to make sure it is safe and ok for me to do a 10 day cleanse while I am on Cymbalta (anti-depressant).

Unknown January 26, 2010 at 10:47 pm

Where can i get the master cleanse diet ( ingredients ) in Bangalore India ?

mari carmen February 1, 2010 at 6:55 pm

just want to know if destilled water could work as good as filtered water

Anderson February 17, 2010 at 12:54 pm

Hi! I did the master cleansing for 8 days. I prepared for it for 3 days eating just salads with no dressing and fruits, then after I did the 8 days of lemon water the whole time having only a fruit juice in the morning, after the bentonite and salt water enema and early evening I’d drink a vegetable juice and lemon water until sleep.
Now, it’s been almost 2 weeks after and I am trying to go back to my normal diet, which is pretty healthy with mostly organic and free range products. The only problem i am finding is that I’ve been feeling bloated with gas and the bowel movements are not happening every morning as used to be, unless I take the salted water enema or psyllium pills. The movement might skip a day or so.
I had fish, chicken and free range pork once each, in different time during this period after the fast and whole wheat past. The other food is fruits and vegetables, brown rice and cereals, whole milk maybe a couple of times.

My question is is it normal after a fast? What could I do to make it better? Is is ok to take bentonite 2 x a day and the sea salt water enema every morning? How long can I take this enema?
If you could answer those questions, it would help me a lot. Thank you, very much!

Have a pleasant day!

Best,
Anderson

I was wondering if anyone has experienced coming off anti -depressants ( Cymbalta) and do the Master Cleanse at the same time. I thought of trying to get off the Cymbalta first then do the Cleanse ? Not sure what to do really.
Can anyone help? Can’t wait to start the Master Cleanse but do need to go to work each day and coming off Cymbalta is not a nice experience from what I have been reading.

Hi,

I had a gallbladder removal surgery 3 years ago. I am 21 years old. Does my missing gallbladder would conflict my health during master cleanse?

Thanks a lot!

Anonymous April 17, 2010 at 8:29 am

I have searched my books and the internet for answers and can not find any. I wanted to start the cleanse today so i did the laxative tea last night and then first thing this morning I ded the salt water flush. I have only had my normal BM this morning and it has been over three hours. I feel completely normal and nothing has come out of me. I am not crampy or anything. Do I need to do another salt water flush? Do I increase the volume of salt?
