Master Cleanse Questions Answered

I was reading through the comments and noticed a few questions that have already been answered on this blog. You’ll find links to the original post at the end of the questions.

You can also use the search box at the top of this blog to search for old blog posts, there’s a good chance that any question you have about the master cleanse has already been answered.

Hi! I am very new to this MC detox and would very much to give this program a try. I understand that there are three main ingredients that are required. a) organic lemon, b)organic grade b maple syrup and c) filtered water.

I am from malaysia and it is very difficult to get organic food here. especially lemon and grade b maple syrup. is there any substitution? and can i use R.O. water (reverse osmosis water) instead of filtered water. is there any difference between filtered water and purified water?

Please help. I want to start the program but difficult to get the ingredients.

Here’s a link to a post I made about not having to be perfect to benefit from the master cleanse

Hi,
I am not interested in loosing weight (BMI 19.5) but want to detox my body. I am 45 yrs old and just a bit worried that after the minimum 10 days detox I will look haggard in my face because I will loose too much. How is this? Will the little sagging belly (fat) go away, too? And: Some people tell me that I will have a strong body odour because of the toxins getting out of my body. Any experience with that? Thanks!

Here’s a blog post I wrote about how to do the master cleanse and not lose weight

Hello! I have a few questions that I would greatly appreciate being answered, first off I am very excited to start the master cleanse and can not wait to get started. However I am wondering if it is alright to exercise while on the master cleanse? If so, should I avoid drinking water when I exercise? I hope you are able to answer my question! Thanks for your time!

I have an acidic body type. I love putting lemon slices in my water as flavoring. If I drink lemon water for a few days in a row, I start with back pain. I have been told that my body type cannot take the acid from the lemons. I would really like to try this cleanse, but am afraid of this happening. Is this the lemons cleansing or is this process too much acid for me?

I started the master cleanse 4 days ago and i feel great. I am down 7 pounds as of this morning and i have noticed changed in my complexion. I have been faithful to the cleanse except for day one i had 3 pastacios to ease the craving in my stomach… I won’t say that its a breeze but the craving are getting easier to work through. I have found that mostly my body is used to its eating schedule, so i have used that as my drinking schedule and it seems to kill the craving…. And I drink a lot of water to keep my fake my stomache into being full. It works most of the time. My goal is to go the full 10 days and luckily with the help of my husbands support i know that i can do it. A big thanks to Yolanda from the housewives of Beverly hills for introducing this to me…

And to those that can’t find the grade b syrup you can find it on the internet. I found it at Krogers in the organic section.

Can I drink hot pep. tea while on cleanse and can I eat anything? I’ve never done this before and am on day 3… Feeling a little nausea and not sure if I should keep going strong or back off. I certainly don’t want to pass out :)

Where do we get the answers to all these great questions? I have some of the same questions……

Can I still work out while on the master cleanse? I lift a lot and for a 19 year old, 5′ 7” tall girl I surprise a lot of people with my strength. I squat 570lbs and work out for an hour each time 4-5 times a week.I really don’t want to lose muscle on this diet, I just want to cleanse my body, should I be worried about losing my muscle?

Can you continue a vigorous workout program during the cleanse? I’m training for a 10k in April…..and desperately need to help rid my body of ALL the toxins I placed in my body over the last three months while nursing an injury :(

I’m thinking of starting the master cleanse, however I am worried that the cleanse will be the type that you need to run to the bathroom. I will be working during the time I start the cleanse. Is it easy to do the cleanse while still working? And can you work out as well? Thanks

I jumped into the cleanse without knowing much about it. Today is my tenth day and I feel amazing! I’m very thankful for all of the useful tips and directions you provided to help me be successful. I would recommend this cleanse to anyone. It taught me a lot about myself. When I put my mind to it, I can achieve anything! Also, I’m pretty impressed by my own will power being as I am a chef at a restaurant with amazing food. haha. Thanks again for helping me through this life changing experience.

I have been considering and researching a cleanse options for years. I have always found an excuse to not do it because I was afraid of the mental anguish and failure. I feel like I am finally ready to try it. I have thoroughly read through this cleanse and think this is the one for me (if I can do it). I just have a few questions first. #1: is a Brita filter pitcher an ok source for purified water? #2: I am on medication for anxiety and depression, will this cleanse be detrimental to me? and #3: Is this blog a safe place to hope to find support and encouragement if I’m feeling weak or deterred?

I tried this cleanse. By 4pm in day 1, my head hurt so bad, I got so dizzy, I felt beyond sleepy and had no interest in anything. I gave up, yes, I gave up. It scared me. I needed food, so I ate. And I felt great after I ate. I don’t have a support system so maybe that is why I can of succeed in my cleansing endeavors. I just really want to lose weight. I was hit by a car and spent 3 months in a bed. I gained 50 lbs that I simply cannot get rid of. I’m doubting that this is right for me. I’m not happy with the way I felt. It was extreme for me. Something I never felt before. I’m a bit lost right now!!

Patrica October 19, 2012 at 11:59 am

I have had much difficulty, staying on as I have twin boys and a husband that I do cook for and so very hard to resist a bite., but still have managed to lose 7 pds in 4 days so I feel it is still worth it. But not getting the full detox benefits. Not sure if I am making things more difficult. Ireally want to detox for healthier looking me. I am 49 and want to be a fantastic 50 yr old woman.

Eugenia October 10, 2012 at 5:58 pm

This is my last day of the cleanse and I lost over 15 pounds but I didn’t seen any fantastic results with my skin – my face didn’t clear up as I thought it would – the first couple of days were really tiring. The first day was awful – I had cold and hot spells and ached thru the night. Today I felt pretty good – I walked outside as well for a few days. It was difficult to sleep thru the night – I was waken thru the night with Bathroom Calls. I did enjoy the fast and I am now preparing to go on juices for another 10 days – I’m going to drink orange juice for the next day and then switch to juices (fruit first and then vegetables). It was worth it for me because I feel stronger and feel like I can now kick bad foods in the butt.

My cousin told me her friend did this cleanse but with the salt and laxative tea in the lemonade. Is it bad to combine them? Or is it just better to drink it separate? Also can you go to the gym while doing the cleanse?

How many single servings are you supposed to have in a day? I am under the impression that it is one serving (one lemonade drink) per day?

Patti February 23, 2012 at 6:25 pm

Is it safe to exercise as I normally do on the cleanse? I normally jog 3 miles a day, 5 days a week and weight train 3 days a week.

Thembi February 23, 2012 at 8:09 am

Hello , I just want to know if is safe to use cleansing while I’m breastfeeding or pregnant.

Perry January 30, 2012 at 11:06 am

I must say the cleanse has worked wonders for me. The first tiome I did it I lost 25 lbs in eleven day. It was amazing how much energy I had during the fast. Since I have done it one more time and lost 13 lbs in seven days. The beginning was difficult I had a stuffy head feeling for the first two days and afterwards it became a lot easier. I recommed this to anyone that wants to detox and lose weight. I do a regular workout four days a week in the guy now and the weight is melting like butter. It was a great jump statr for me to move into the next phase of my get healthy program.

I have a lime tree in my backyard, I only use soap and water on her. I was wondering if I could replace the lemon juice with lime juice.

Hello Raylen! I wanted to thank you for your much detailed mastercleansesecrets website! I plan on going vegan after the ten day fast, and hope the cleanse will help me control the cravings for whipped cream, cheese & fish… I have been pescetarian for the last 3 years.

My question is this; about two months ago I started feeling really lethargic, depressed and my bones ached. After being sick for about a month I went to the doctors, had blood work done and figured out what was wrong with me. I have two vitamin deficiencies, iron and vitamin. I am now taking supplements throughout the day. Liquid iron in the morning, calcium magnesium citrate and vitamin d in the afternoon and at night. I have been in this routine for a month now and feel extremely better.

Is the cleanse a good idea for me right now? I need to keep taking my medications during the cleanse, and they are not organic…

Thanks so much for your help

Ciarra December 10, 2011 at 6:07 am

Can you excersice too ?

Jenny December 1, 2011 at 3:37 pm

Hi I was wondering if putting more cayenne will affect the diet.

Christoph November 25, 2011 at 10:47 pm

I just completed the MC after 11 days and lost 18 pounds! This was my third time doing the MC and also the longest! It was gratifying each day to see the weight loss on the scale. I’m 44 and I feel great and the weight loss definitely shows. Now, I’m doing the ease-out process and that really helps with the cravings discipline and re-adjusting to healthier eating habits. Thankyou again for the detailed MC recipe diet and ease-in and ease-out process.

E.Smith November 20, 2011 at 3:52 pm

claudia November 7, 2011 at 9:50 pm

This is my second time on the mc. The first time i accomplished 12 days. It feels like this time around it’s harder. I’m on my 1st day and i’m already struggling. Any mc buddies that have just started?

Cassidy November 3, 2011 at 6:01 pm

I saw this cleanse on LA Ink, and I knew I had to try it. I’m starting on Sunday, and I can’t wait. One question: What age do you think is too young to try this? I’m only fifteen but am overweight and definitely don’t eat healthy enough. My parents are all for it and I’m trying to get my mom to do it with me, I think she’d love it. I’m kind of nervous because I know we can’t completely clear out our house, but I still want to try.

Diana November 3, 2011 at 1:34 pm

I have had many test in the past 6 months that required injections into my blood system. I do a colon cleanse every year and now I want to cleanse my liver, etc. I know that vitamin 12 and B vitamins cleanse the liver, but was wondering if this lemon-ade cleanse is also for cleaning up the liver? Today is my first day on this and I am very excited about doing something wonderful for my body and continuing with eating right. please let me know what your thought is on the liver and drinking the lemon-ade mixture..

Kelly October 29, 2011 at 8:49 am

Please PLease PLease answer my question… Do you take the laxative and drink the sea salt and water? Do you do both or just 1? Also the lemonade concoction do you have to use the cayenne? I do not like cayenne at all… Thanks
