About Me

My name is Raylen Sterling. I started publishing the master cleanse secrets newsletter because I’ve gained so much (physically and mentally) from going on the master cleanse that I wanted to share it with others.

Really I just had a few questions. First off, buying a water filtration system is a little out of the question right now, so is there another way to take in water that you could recommend? I am currently taking several supplements which consist of multi-vitamins and the like; should I stop taking those while on the diet?

Thank you for what you are doing, my wife and I are not over-weight, but we are unhealthy and we are going to give this detox a try.

Hi
I was wondering if the maple syrup is necessary for the cleanse or if it is just for sweetening. As a diabetic I would prefer to use Stevia instead, lemons have enough sugar already.
Thanks, Dave

jill July 16, 2008 at 7:38 pm

I am a non-insulin dependent type 2 diabetic. My biggest problem is starch! However when I last did a cleanse (3 weeks ago for 14 days) I halved the maple sugar and suplemented with stevia that I buy at Trader Joe’s. I use the regular stevia as the “super-stevia has too much of a licorice aftertaste!
The first time I detoxed I was in bed with the worst migraines for nearly 24 hours but I tapered off my sugar and starches for a few days before beginning this time and only needed and excedrin-once!
Good Luck!!

Can I use sugar instead of maple syrup? If so how much?

Raylen,

Thanks so much for the tips in your book, it has made the Mater Cleanse a lot less intimidating. I am on day 4 now and am having extreme pains radiating from my intestinal area and extending all the way up my back and even a little down into my legs. I have not slept the last two nights and am getting very frustrated. It is especially painful when I sit or lie down. Standing gives me a little relief, but since I haven’t slept much, I am exhausted. I haven’t read anything similar yet on line of other people with this side effect. I was wondering if anyone had described these pains to you in the past, and if it is anything I should be concerned about. I really don’t want to quit the cleanse yet, but these pains may force me to.

I downloaded Master Cleanse Secrets a couple of nights ago. A friend of mine told me about the cleanse and the great results others have had with this particular process. I’ve been looking for a cleanse to give me a fresh start to eating without sugar, flour, processed food, etc. I also need to lose about 60 lbs. I’ve been a vegetarian before and I want to return to about 90% vegetarian. It’s good for me and for the planet. I plan on eating some fish though. I’m severly lactose-intolerant so milk is also out. I just ordered the Aquasana filter. I was using one of the worst on the market. I’ve also set myself up with the other supplements and products. My 10-day cleanse will begin on Aug 29th after all my orders have arrived. I’m very excited to find a program that makes so much sense. I appreciate the recommendations you give to make the process as easy as possible. I will check in during my cleanse.

Hello Raylen, I heard about this “diet” and indeed my idea is not to loose weight because I have hipertiroidism and had already lost like 14 pounds in a quite short time, 2 or 3 months. I just want to feel better and younger, it’s like this disorder aged me a lot, so I want to know how I can cleanse my body without loosing any more weight. Try to eat healthy, protein in different ways (avoid red meats), lots of “fresh” fruits but still feel my muscles flacid because of the disorder (though I have strength yet). Besides I’m allergic to citrics (all my life, not just now), so what can I do??? I don’t have reactions with “cooked” citrics juice (like when I make my orange sauce for baked chicken)
Hope you can help me.

Hi Raylen,

I downloaded the Master Cleanse Secrets and read through it. Im looking forward in doing the cleanse now since reading the Master Cleanse Secrets. I had one question though, can I use Spirulina instead of the wheat grass in addition to the cleanse?

Thank You For Your Time,
Jon

Hello there,
I am a cleanser that recently downloaded your giude. It was unbelievably helpful and I know I could not have made it without it!!! What a great service you do.
Unfortunately my 9yr old son deleted my guide!! I am embarking on another cleanse and just HAD to ask if you could resend. While I think it is well worth the $27 expense I just had to ask. Your records should show my visa was charged the name being Annie McGovern.
Thank you so very much.
Annie

I am on my 9th day of the cleanse I have lost overall 9 inches, 6 lbs, it has helped my asthma and acid reflux and my body does not ache any more. I have lots of energy.

Sincerely,

Kristi

I am on day 8. I am feeling pretty good, but I have a couple of questions. I am a bit swollen, as if I am retaining water. Would the salt water do that? I am using kosher salt, I think that is the same as sea salt?
I haven’t eliminated much except water and a very small amount each morning. I was expecting stuff to happen by now?
I have only lost 3 pounds. I am about 30 pounds overweight, and I assumed I would lose much more quickly based on what I read.
Should I go longer to get more benefit?

I have been on the cleanse for 4 days. I am in my 5th day. Today I am having the least side effects and feel good. I have been fumbling around different master cleanse sites and i found one that said “you must use Grade A maple syrup or you will not get results”. I was wondering why you have Grade B. can someone clear this up. I dont want to continue if i’m using the wrong product.
thanks

Jennifer October 4, 2008 at 2:13 pm

Can I use botled lemon juice?

Jeremy November 2, 2008 at 12:34 pm

Jennifer,
God gosh!
Use the salt water flush ASAP.
You must feel horrible

james November 22, 2008 at 8:43 am

I was wondering how old you have to be to do this diet?

Jan December 10, 2008 at 10:47 am

I started developing a yeast infection on the 6th day of the cleanse. From what I know about yeast overgrowth, sugar is the culprit. Should I stop adding the maple syrup to the lemonade?

paul December 12, 2008 at 11:44 am

I am a recreational bodybuilder and my muscle mass is important to me. Would a Master Cleanse still be beneficial if I added a scoop of whey protein in the morning and after workouts, but stuck to the plan the rest of the time?

julie December 13, 2008 at 7:45 pm

i was wondering i must take my meds and i was wanting to know if i can still do the lemon cleanse.

Vassa December 16, 2008 at 12:59 pm

What would happen if you eat solid food right away after the cleanse? Is it bad for your stomach?

Vanessa December 27, 2008 at 4:58 pm

Can I purchage a hard copy of “Master Cleanse Secrets” by Raylen Sterling, instead of downloading?

Jerry Sheets December 29, 2008 at 5:34 pm

I’m interested in what you are doing, but can’t start Jan 1. I recently fractured my shoulder and am still on muscle relaxers and anti-inflamatory drugs. As SOON as I can get off those things, I’m ready to go… so keep me posted.

FYI: I looked for you and/or a ‘Master Cleanse” group on LinkedIn and didn’t find either. If you haven’t looked at LinkedIn.com, it might be worth while to consider and provide the link to your blog and/or create a Master Cleanse Group. Feel free to look at my profile for an idea of how it works: http://www.linkedin.com/in/jerrysheets

Hello, I’m on Day 1 of the cleanse and have some concerns.
I’m leaving for a cruise on 1/24/2009 would it be smart for me to continue on the cleanse? I’m just worried that my body will not be back up to speed by the time I leave and will not be able to eat and drink. Please help!!!

letty January 9, 2009 at 10:39 pm

Linda, I’m happy you started this before your trip. You should be fine, in fact you should feel energized and ready for you trip. I’m on day 3 and being my second time (I did it about 2 yrs ago) and doing it all by myself (last time a friend and I did it together) I fell wonderful. Today there were no cravings or hunger. I just drank the lemonade and lots of water. Good luck to you.

Patty January 19, 2009 at 9:51 pm

I will be starting the Master Cleanse tomorrow!!! So excited! I do have one question. I went ahead and got the Smooth Move Herbal Tea and drinking it tonight as I read you should do. My question is, Do I need anything more, as I do not have a problem eliminating as I am a Vegan/Vegetarian and I quit eating processed sugar and almost no processed foods. I’m doing the cleanse because I never tried a cleanse before and feeling sluggish. I will be starting the Raw Foods diet after the cleanse to see if that in addition to the cleanse will boost my energy level and help me stay within my preferred weight.

Ruth January 25, 2009 at 11:34 am

Hi Raylen,
I thoroughly enjoyed your book and all the suggestion to make this liquid detox easier. I am on day 3 and feel great!
Friday, Jan 23, 2009: Day 1, feeling a little lethargic, but was able to work, probably because of my caffeine withdrawl. I love my coffee! In the evening I had chillllllllllls rolling through my body, I just couldn’t get warm; but afterall I slept well. I had no BM although I had Psyllium in the a.m. and “Get regular” Tea in the evening.
Day 2:
Felt tired; very slow and glad I was off. So, I took it easy. Felt a little nauseous with little headache spills but all in all well. I drank 1 “Get regular” tea and also took 1 Psyllium Caps early morning. Before bed I took another Psyllium Capsule. But had only one BM that day.
Day 3:
I got up and had lots of energy. I drank this morning the 25 oz of warm water with 1 tsp. of Seasalt, but 4 hours later, still no BM. In addition to the 60 oz of Lemonwater, I drink approx. another 90 oz of liquids (water and herbal teas) a day.
My question: Is it o.k. not to have that many BM’s and my concern with all the liquid intake has produced no BM. I also heard about drinking too much water. How much is too much (water intoxication)? I started out with 156 lbs of weight, your recommendations are 156 oz of liquids plus the 60 oz of lemonade = 216 oz of fluids a day. I am afraid that this amount could be at a dangerous intake level, so I stopped at approx. 4 liters of fluids.
Looking forward to your speedy response

Sharlene January 30, 2009 at 7:37 pm

Hi Ray,
I have a few questions regarding your first MC. I, like you were, am about 75 lbs overweight. I’m 38 years old and on day 8 of my first MC, no real significant symptoms yet. A backache here and there, a twinge of pain in my back, heartburn…… during your first MC, when did you start to feel symptoms? How long did you stay on the MC the first time? I am determined but get a little discouraged. I am anxious.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I just started the Master Cleanse diet and today was day 1. I have never done a cleanse before but it sounds like from reading all the blogs on it most people were eliminating by the first day. This did not happen for me. I did the salt water in the morning followed with 6 glasses of the lemonade and tonight will be drinking the smooth move tea. My question is whether or not this is abnormal and if it happens again tomorrow is there anything I should be doing different? I also was planning on doing Bikrams yoga I am curious if that would be too much detoxing at once? Any thoughts on this are much appreciated!

Susie February 8, 2009 at 3:37 pm

I have not started the Master Cleanse, but did purchase it today. I am looking forward to planning out the start date and cleaning out my apt. I on average eat healthy, but I do have a weakness for oreos…yep, bad. So I will be getting rid of those and my cereals. I am really hoping this routine works to cleanse my body. Honestly I am a bit skeptical after reading the Master Cleanse booklet and finding numerous typos…is this legit? I hope so.

Richelle February 9, 2009 at 1:04 pm

Reylan,
I am on day 5 of the cleanse and I have a few questions. First, thank you for the secrets. This is the second time I am doing this cleanse and only made it to day 5 the first time, so for me, I am at the hump!
First question…is this the appropriate forum to ask you questions? I couldn’t seem to find anywhere on your site to just ask questions. I guess if you don’t respond, I will know. I also emailed you in response to the Welcome email you sent, but assume that is the wrong way to get an answer to a question, because I never received a response.
My second question is with respect to the amount of water you suggest we consume. I weigh 146.5 lbs (well, that was on day 1), and you indicate that I should drink the same number of ounces of water as my weight. Should this be in addition to the 60+ ounces of lemondade that I consume daily, or should that be factored in to the over all number of ounces I consume?
Also, as you recommend, I am doing 2 of the three “helpers” to eliminate daily – either the sea salt & water (btw, should this water count towards my daily amount); the psyllium; or the smooth move tea. However, on Days 3, 4 and so far today, I have barely eliminated….once only, and very very little. Is this normal? What can I do? Would it be overkill to do all three on one day?
Regarding the cayenne pepper, I thought I read somewhere in your secrets that pills can be used instead, but then when I went back to reference it, I couldn’t find it. Can you please confirm that this is ok? I totally cannot tollerate the cayenne pepper in the drink, but seem to be okay taking a pill before I drink lemonade…
Thank you for your help in getting these answered.
Richelle

Alexis February 9, 2009 at 11:54 pm

Hi Richelle,

I did not yet get answer back to my questions either so I am not sure if this the right blog sight for that. But I do know that you can substitute two cayenne pill capsules if you hate the taste I read that in a few places as well. So hopefully that can be of some help to you.

Just wanted to stop in and say hi. I have been planning to go on a master cleanse for over two weeks now and I set the date to start tomorrow. I knew a few things about the cleanse, but I actually just found your book tonight and I just finished up reading it! It was definitely a Godsend because I had some questions about how it would take a toll on my body, all I knew was that I needed to do it. And your amazing book cleared everything up for me! I am using this for long term weight loss, but mainly for a healthier body. Being a 20 year old college student, I have had my fair share of fast food and junk food from snack machines. I know that after I get through these next ten days, I’ll be healthier and want to eat better food. I am 41 pounds overweight and in the long run this master cleanse will have made all the difference. Just wanted to say thank you so much for all the information in your book!

Oh yes, and I did have one quick question. I was wondering if using fluoride toothpaste was a bad idea during the cleanse? I know that fluoride is actually pretty bad for us, but would you recommend dry brushing or using a fluoride free toothpaste?

mom of 3 March 12, 2009 at 8:40 am

Hello everyone,
I am interested in this diet but I cannot eat anything with pepper. Do you know if I can substitute it for something else that has the same effect? Thanks for any help.

brittney March 21, 2009 at 4:34 pm

ok so i just have a few questins about the master cleanse…
1.)what can you eat while your on this diet?

2.)after the 10days does it matter what you eat after that?

3.)do i have to work out to loose this weight?

brittney March 21, 2009 at 4:34 pm

thanks

mas sajady April 2, 2009 at 3:23 pm

Hi Ryan
On the 4th day and feeling great. Ive read a lot about what to eat after the cleanse so your body stays feeling good. Most of the literature says to eat raw foods. I found a nutritional beverage that is made of wild raw berries and fruits. No preservatives etc. I would like to see if you would like to promote it as part of your health quest to your followers. Please let me know by contacting me either way.

Doc April 16, 2009 at 3:00 pm

i was interested in checking out the colon cleanse…… i got a bit frightened when i read that my energy levels would “sore”. sounds a bit painfil to me. hope the webmaster “soars” back to correct this. :-)

Hello all,

After doing a general detox for almost 5 weeks, I’m now into my 5th day on the Master cleanse, which is proving to be the best day so far (I’ve been hungry, tired, sleepless – all that going to the loo!, distracted.) Today I am still hungry & tired – but less! – and definitely feeling more focused (it’s amazing.) Doing everything according to plan (except no psyllium, which I’m thinking I should go and get if it quells the hunger pangs!) The one thing I am really struggling with is water retention. It’s a problem I already have but yesterday my legs swelled to about twice their size, the skin on my calves so tight it ached! Am I doing something wrong or is there anything I can or should do to minimise this? Please help! I worry that perhaps my kidneys are struggling with all this liquid?

Hi…I am trying to detox to 1) pass a drug test for a new job (marijauna), and, 2) lose weight. Can I achieve both on the Master Cleanse??

Given the sensitive nature of this question, I would appreciate if you would not publish this in the public domain.

Mandy June 8, 2009 at 9:56 am

Hi Raylen!

I just finished reading your Master Cleanse Secrets Guide. I am interested in doing the cleanse to detox my body and for weight loss. I had a few questions:

1. Can I do the cleanse for 10-13 days and then continue the cleanse following 1 of the 2 options available for long term dieting?

2. Can you change from week to week on the option? For example: One week replace 1 meal a day with the lemonade and then the following week do the cleanse for 1 or 2 days?

3. Can I use a Brita water purifier? Any recommendations? Didn’t want to invest in a whole house filtration system–will be moving soon & plan to put one in at new house.

I would greatly appreciate you getting back to me ASAP– I would like to try to get pregnant again very soon, but I wanted to get my body in a good healthy state first!!

Thank you for your time!! :)
